This place is an institution around here. I had fish and chips here as a kid decades ago and they're still around. Theyve become pricier and more touristy. The fish pieces are smaller than I remember. This time i got 2pc cod and chips. Service was pretty quick. Pricey, at around $24 but you get bottomless fries. The fish was moist, firm but flaky, and piping hot out of the fryer. Batter was a bit thick and greasy for my liking but at least it tasted fresh. Fries were fresh cut single-fried. Good when they're fresh and piping hot, but get soft and soggy really fast. Didnt taste too greasy though. Unsalted, which I like. You can always add salt yourself. The pricing is expensive but the bottomless fries make up for it a bit. There is ketchup, malt vinegar, hot sauce, and utensils on the side. Also a water fountain. If you go with say, a group of 3 and get a 3pc with bottomless fries, its not a bad deal. Just gets kind of greasy. Dont expect mushy peas or curry sauce/gravy or any other fixins like British fish and chips. food quality probably 3.5/5. Value if you take advantage of bottomless fries, 4/5. Its a nice place to hang out by the dock and have a quick bite, so accounting for the nice vibes, overall 4/5. Lots of free street parking in Steveston but you'll need to drive around hunting for an open spot during peak hours. read more

We decided to come here during Cherry Blossom season. Yikes...super crowded during Cherry Blossom season. Hard to find parking but we lucked out as someone was leaving and we managed to take their spot. Hubby made a very smart suggestion of coming here early for dinner. He knew it was going to be crowded and that we'd be in for a wait. We waited about an hour for our food...so by the time we got our food, it was around 6pm...normal time for dinner. In other words, early dinner turned out to be not so early dinner due to the one hour wait. Not sure I'd wanna dine here during Cherry Blossom season again. One hour of waiting is a bit much. We had a bday meal to redeem. They give you 4 months to redeem a bday meal here. I love that. Such a generous time frame! We ordered Cod and Chips, plus a Poutine & Krispies. I researched on Google ahead of time and found out that both the gravy and the Krispies are vegetarian friendly so I actually tried the poutine this time. Pretty good. I always go for the cod here. It comes out tender and not dry, which is exactly what I want in fish and chips. The fries are great too, and the free refills are a nice bonus. It is definitely nicest in the summer, but I still enjoy it on a clear day even if it is a bit chilly. There is some seating on the wharf, which adds to the whole experience. Yum! So fun eating fish and chips on the pier. We got two pieces of cod with the bottomless fries for ~$23. A little pricey but the fish was very delicious with a nice crispy light batter. We had a birthday BOGO coupon so we headed down to steveston for fish and chips at Pajos. It's a long weekend with nice sunny weather so it was pretty busy in the neighbourhood. It took some time to find parking. Took us a minute to realize where the ramp was to get down to Pajos lol. We ordered through the app and it didn't take too long for them to make our order actually. I wish there were more tables and benches to eat at as most of them were already taken up. Before heading to Vancouver we did some research and decided to add this to our list of places to eat. A couple of buddies and I are constantly on the hunt for awesome fish and chips after having possibly the best fish and chips from Epcot at Disneyworld years ago. I know that sounds kind of crazy but we were excited to go to this place. The overall experience was okay. It's not the greatest atmosphere because it's on the water (which is greenish) and there are parts of fried foods on the benches and tables from previous guests so birds tend to hover around. I love how this location has a display that shows your order number when your order is ready - this is far better than staff having to shout out numbers, helping to provide a more pleasant experience overall. Went for a bike ride along the dike in Richmond which means a stop at Pajo's on the wharf in Steveston for fish n chips. Came by around 11:30 on the Monday of the long weekend in October. Secured a table which is always a plus as it does get busy with nice weather any weekend around this time. The views are great of the wharf with all the boats...hard to beat on a sunny day. Opted for the 2 piece cod and chips. I did like the presentation of the fish on top of the fries. And love how they still serve the fish and chips in cones which fit nicely into the holes cut in the table. There was no issue with the service. The taste of the cod was good...crisp and not overly greasy. The portion size I believe has decreased since my last visit. And while I did enjoy the fries, I found they were not seasoned or salted in anyway...very bland. It was a positive food experience but more for the destination and views. read more

Perfect place for a fish and chips spot! Located right on the water along Steveston Wharf, which is still a hub of commercial fishing. All sorts of fried goodies! I went with the Pacific wild cod and halibut. Pieces were not huge but were fried well in a nice crispy batter. Fries themselves were decent but not the highlight here. Food is served in a sort of papery cone for easy holding. The seats around the place come with convenient holes that your cone of fried goodness perfectly fits into for easy eating. Apparently, a fish taco or burger order can come with "bottomless fries" which I did not test. Beware the seagulls here show up in force and can get a bit pushy looking for a free meal! read more

Terrible chips, good fish. We ordered halibut and it was very flakey and cooked well. Battering was thin, crispy, and not oily tasting. On the Friday that we went, we only had a ten minute wait between ordering and receiving our food. Minus stars for the stale and soggy fries. Honestly some of the worse fries I've ever had. If it weren't for the ketchup and tarter sauce I dunked these fries into, these fries would've gone straight into the trash. A cold and blustery day in Steveston means you need to warm up with some good food. Nothing like having some fresh fish and chips! We had their famous (and ocean-wise) sustainable 3 piece cod with double (maybe triple fried) chips. The batter was light and airy with no hint of grease. We were there in the summer for lunch which is not very recommended, they have patio umbrella but it's not flexible which means we seat under the sun without a shade. We had Alaskan wild halibut (2 pc), cod burger, and 2 pacific wild cod & fries (2 pc). I would say, it's not as good as we heard about them, normal fish and chips but pricy! We love seafood especially fish and chips and try so many fish and chips shops/restaurants. if you live nearby it's ok but for us, not worth the trip. I was here for a family lunch on May 2nd, Sunday. Because Pajo's is a famous restaurant, I felt so excited to see if this places was really good. I personally felt there was TOO much hype going on. We ordered the total of 5pcs of Cod and a Chips with a drink. Fish and Chips came out as is without Coleslaw, and the food was disappointing for the price. Cod was tender, but it was NOT crispy. It was usually crowded when we came here or at the other outlets so I never bothered with it. Plus I was not a huge fan of fish and chips so I hardly crave for it. Pajo's used to be our go-to spot in Steveston but unfortunately, the quality has gone down while the prices have risen considerably. Since Pajo's seems to employ a lot of high school kids, the food quality is rather inconsistent. You may or may not receive extremely oily food but that depends on whether your meal was prepared by a teenager testing out the fryer on his first week of work. I guess it's still somewhat worth it for a tourist to visit Pajo's since it's uniquely situated on the water and you're able to enjoy your meal on the docks surrounded by boats. Lastly, it is nice that they are 100% Ocean Wise and their tartar sauce is still delicious. I have been to Pajo's twice and didn't realize I've actually never posted about it! Summer is always the best time to go anywhere. It's so relaxing to just grab some food from Pajo's and eat near the Steveston harbour. Pajo's is famous for their fish & chips, so we got the halibut and snapper fish & chips. To be very honest, I think their fish & chips is just fine. I do like their thin and crispy batter, but the halibut we got was a bit dry and it doesn't really have a lot of flavour. The snapper actually has more flavour than the halibut, and it was less overcooked. Overall, I do think the fish & chips are okay, I just wouldn't consider coming back for it very often. read more

As always, absolute halibut and chips perfection at Pajo's on Steveston Wharf, plus lovely quick service and picnic tables with umbrellas. Visited today with my granddaughter and introduced her to Pajo's halibut, which she'd never had before. She was over the moon (we both were) because the food was so good. Plus, bottomless pop as well as chips?!?!?! Wow! We took the bus out from Kitsilano to visit Steveston and loved everything about the place. Charming shops, charming people working in those shops, and an all-around delightful day. But the highlight was those gorgeous fish and chips at Pajo's. Yes, it's expensive. But that's not Pajo's fault. The price of fish is off the chart. Have you ever tried to buy fresh halibut? It's not something that can grace my table very often!
