    Farmers salad with grilled steelhead
    Gauravi P.

We had a great time here! We came without any reservations. We were able to get a table but had to wait 20 minutes. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Staff directed us to the bar next door, where we ordered drinks and oysters. The bar was tented and had fans and high tables. It was a little hot but we weren't sitting there for too long.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The staff were super chill and friendly. Our oysters and drinks took as long to come to us as our table wait time. But, that is because servers waited to serve everyone in the bar area at the same time. That decision didn't make any sense to me but we brought our oysters and drinks to our table and moved on! I ordered the farmhouse salad with grilled steelhead. It was so delicious! I chose the buttermilk dressing and have no regrets. There were so many yummy vegetables included in the salad. I also loved the crunchy dried chickpeas and other crunchy beans added so texture variety. The salad was umami, guys! I would definitely come back here. My only comment and why I left off a star,m was because of their fried fish sandwich. My husband ordered that sandwich and it was terrible. He couldn't finish it and we refused to help him after tasting it. The fish sandwich was more of a patty and I think McDonald's fish fillet tastes better. Our kids ordered fish and chips and they were served real fried fish. I wish my husbands sandwich also had real fried fish instead of a frozen or premade fish cake burger sandwich.

Had the pleasure of having lunch here yesterday. We arrived and placed our order at the hostess stand. The ordering process felt rushed because as we were checking out the menu, there was a line forming behind us. After placing our order, we were given a table number for a table to sit at under the covered patio. I wasn't fond of the whole setup, but I proceeded to find our table and get some water, which was in a bucket that had a spigot. I ordered the 3-piece Fish and Chips, the Clam Chowder, 1/2 dozen local oysters, and 1/2 dozen imported oysters. I didn't like the Fish and Chips. The Fish tasted super bland and so did the tartar sauce it came with. The Clam Chowder was bland, but tasted good with the addition of salt and pepper. The Oysters were delicious and the imported 1/2 dozen was my favorite. All of my food tasted fresh. All of the staff were friendly and nice. Our food came out quickly. I'd definitely return for some Clam Chowder and Oysters.

Great selection of fresh locally sourced fish. They had muscles, sole, rockfish, salmon, and monkfish. Check out options in the fridge sections. They also have additional market items to season or as gifts. [[HIGHLIGHT]]There's a bar for sitting and eating or having drinks at the bar.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Staff was helpful and friendly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Area felt open and wasn't too crowded on a Monday night.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Have heard it gets busy on weekend.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

Great chowder here! I was thoroughly impressed with the quality of their seafood. The cocktails were made well. It's counter service and seating is outside but they have it well heated and insulated. We came on a chilly night and there was no problem keeping warm. Inside is a fish market which had a great selection of fresh seafood. Service was fantastic and attentive but you do get your own water and bus your own table. I enjoyed the crab cakes and scallop special (Winterwaters special). Good flavor, not bland at all. I will be back to try their fish and chips soon!

Went here as my friend recommended it and if you like fresh seafood with amazing service from the bartender to the hostess to the chef I had the best experience! The oysters were amazing but that's not all the fish tacos and salmon were soooooo good it definitely won't be my last time coming!

Flying Fish is back and better than ever!!! Today is the opening of the new market & restaurant format and it is awesome. We had the fish and chips ($15) and side salad ($6) and both were great. Arguably the best Fish and Chips in PDX. The freshness of the fish really shines. It was cooked perfectly and I loved the light crisp batter. We were the first restaurant customers and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. The owner Lyf and the staff are just so nice. Flying Fish is the best casual, mid-priced seafood restaurant in Portland. It started as a Portland Food Truck in 2010 and is a remarkable story of success. This place already had a "cult like" following and the new restaurant is going to be very successful. For me, this is the real PDX dining experience. It's outdoor dog friendly and has a small parking lot. What more could you want? Check it out.

Wow. Great customer service, excellent shucking and really chill vibe. Family owned and passed down generations. It's separate from the market but inside the same area. If you like oysters you should definitely check this place out; big selection and knowledgeable staff. We also had salmon poke with Juanita's chips and it was super fresh and tasty.

    Oysters! Must have!
    Danielle W.

Super delicious and lovely experience here! We popped in to grab oysters and ended up ordering half the menu. There is outdoor seating, in on a Friday around 1pm the wait was 15 min - you can order a drink and enjoy it while you wait, so for me this was no big deal. Once you're called, you order your food then sit down. We got the tacos (fresh and light, creamy but not salsa), the poke (MUST get, fresh and excellent), oysters (duh) and the Caesar salad (if you're a Caesar fan do it - legit anchovies involved). The servers were super friendly and patient. I would absolutely come here again, a little wait is worth it and the food is very reasonably priced for the high quality and delicious fresh flavors you get!

We came craving and hoping to try local oysters...unfortunately their oyster bar was not open the day we were there. Got the Spicy Poke and it definitely had a nice spicy kick to it. They have a cute outdoor setup. And the inside of the store was nicely stocked. If I was local, I would probably end up shopping here a lot.

We were driving from Davis to Seattle and I stumbled upon this gem! Even though when we got there the water line broke they weren't serving food - they let us have a beer and packed us a whole lunch to go! Everything was delicious - will definitely be back to get the Salmon sandwich and oysters! People were streaming in for to go orders like you wouldn't believe .

Traveling to Portland in a few weeks. My husband loves oysters, I am expecting and cant have them. Are their other items on the menu? Are these more small plates or is there a lunch menu?…

This place is a market with a five person seating area. We went there but didn't get oysters we ended up going to Southpark seafood which is downtown and delicious after we found Salty's which is right on the water but didn't have oysters. Hope that…

Being able to get anchovies in vinegar, ham croquettes, and a Belgian beer takes me back to some of my favorite travel experiences, and the Pix Patisserie dessert options continue to provide a thrill. I have two quibbles that keep me from adding the fifth star - the Tortilla Espanola (closer to an egg and potato frittata than a Mexican tortilla) is served with a drizzle of red and a white sauces. A well made Tortilla (and this one is very nicely done) doesn't really need any embellishment. I'll try to remember to ask for the sauce on the side next time. The second issue I have is that the servers didn't appear to have received enough training to do justice to the things on the menu. Bar Vivant has a lot of wonderful offerings, enough of them that they really deserve better descriptions and recommendations. Between the drinks, the savory and the sweet options, this is a very special place.

Bar Vivant is a place where you can get more than just Sherry, you get an education about the differences, variations and Spaniard regions where the sherry is cultivated. If you are into Sherry Wines, then this is the place for you. It's a "low-Key" spot with a sense of Romanticism. They have a beer garden that serves as a temporary escape from hustle and bustle. The chill vibe allows for you to take your time, sip on your sherry while trying the different tapas, such as pulpo, sardines, ham, croquettes and much more. If you are in the mood for a good dessert with your sherry, well, you are in luck because Bar Vivant is like a "two-for-one". The restaurant shares it's space with Pix Patisserie, the only place in Portland where you should purchase Macaroons! Because it is a chill spot, the service is chill as well. If you are in the area, waiting to be called for a table, I recommend you stop here while you wait.

The cheese and crack sundae has toasted marshmallow, chocolate, and cinnamon cracker crumbs. Omg the cinnamon crumbs are so good, that with the ice cream was really yummy (I'm a simple girl what can I say). The chocolate hardened into a chocolate shell and it was kind of only on the bottom of the cup so that was a little disappointing. The toasted marshmallow didn't add much, but maybe I'm biased bc I don't rlly care for toasted marshmallow ‍ Overall, the entire sundae is mainly a ton of vanilla ice cream. It's a big portion that I shared with someone else. Second time I went, I got the banana pudding sundae which was soooo good. I shared this with my friend and it was plenty. They give a good amount of banana pudding and you can tell it's quality. I saw bananas, the bread/wafer part, and it pairs nicely with the ice cream. Prob my favorite thing from this place. My other friend got the pbo which was also good. They layer oreo and peanut butter pudding so you get it all throughout the sundae which is nice. She also got an everything cookie which has literally everything in it. It was texturally interesting and not too sweet! Overall, good flavors and quality ice cream. The portions are a bit big and I wish they had half or even quarter sizes since these came in huge cups. At a certain point, the vanilla ice cream becomes flavorless bc there's so much of it but the sundaes were still pretty good!

The ambiance is dark and moody, with vintage touches throughout that give it a lot of character and charm. We ordered at the bar, and the drinks arrived quickly. The food, however, took quite a while to come out. Given how busy the restaurant was, I suspect the kitchen was simply backed up.We started with the burrata salad, which was everything you'd want from a spring salad - fresh, light, and full of flavor. The roasted chicken was slightly under-seasoned for my taste, but the portion was so generous that we ended up taking leftovers home. Reheated with a few sauces, it was still delicious the next day. The White Negroni and wine paired beautifully with the meal, and the cake we ordered for dessert was the perfect ending. Rich, satisfying, and exactly what we were hoping for after dinner.
