What a delight!!! Tonight was my second time visiting here (first time was restaurant week- everything was great) and I can't wait to visit again. For restaurant week I made a reservation, but this time (on a Saturday) we just popped in after visiting All Good, the beer/wine/cocktail next door (they also have an awesome antique spot). I don't leave reviews, normally, unless it's super great or horribly bad, and I would 1,000% like to shout out some positivity for this Italian spot. Massive Plus: - told we had to wait at least 30-45 minutes wherever by a very nice and sunny redheaded host (I did not get their name, but they were really nice and had a super cute dress and I just want them to know that they're awesome- hence being more descriptive). We got a text in about 10 minutes that our space was ready!!!! We had gone back to All Good to wait (BTW, if you're waiting for Cibo and go next door to get a beer, your drinks are $1 off!). We tried to chug, but we decided that our burpfarts would be best saved for after dinner than delicious IPA chugging, so we left the majority of them on the bar. -Food: Just order everything. We were sat at the bar and had a front seat view of the kitchen. Although everyone on the line was awesome, I asked the bartender/server the name of the person at the head of the line. His name is Gayo and he is a f***ing bad***!!! The restaurant was busy as heck and he just...did it. Watching him (as well as the rest of the kitchen staff, bar staff, and servers) work, was a pretty gorgeous ballet that I would suggest you pair with a bottle of wine. -That being said- our server/bartender was Christine and she was such a delight!!! I CAN NOT stress enough how many amazing people you get to meet when you're relaxed, calm, and have a sense of humor when you're out dining. Christine suggested an amazing Rosé (I definitely could chug that...nbd) was kind, funny, sweetly sassy, and you could really tell that she had dealt with busy days many many times before. There is almost zero space between the bar/kitchen/pass and everyone does such a great job dealing with it. Myself and my husband have already decided this is our new Italian spot and we hope you will love it too!!! read more

Dear Cibo, you have officially lost your way. My family would come here weekly prior to COVID. During COVID we ordered delivery a lot. Over the past couple of years we come in, but the experience hasn't been the same. Last night we walked out shortly after we had been seated due to the first 10 minute impressions. We stood in your entrance, waiting to be seated for 5 minutes and 6 different employees passed in front of us and didn't say a word...two employees passed us by multiple times. Finally, someone decided we were important enough to acknowledge and seat. As we followed her to the table, we were able to view her baby blue bra with her backless spaghetti strap dress. JFC...develop some uniform standards already so that I am not being engaged by someone in their trashy underwear. She came back to drop off a dirty water carafe and didn't say a word...not hello, not can I get you something to drink, not so and so is your server...nothing. After sitting for another 3 minutes with no interaction we got up and left. You were excellent at one point in your history. You had standards, you cared about service, and your food was reasonably priced. So basically, you are now offering much less for more. This is how restaurants go out of business in this ultra competitive hospitality environment. read more

What a great little spot. We came for a birthday dinner and it is now my favorite spot for date nights, family celebrations and girls night out. First off the atmosphere. Quiet but lovely enough to people watch. The drinks were amazing! They made me a peach lemon drop that I will be dreaming of!! The service was the best I have had in a long while. Our waitress was awesome though I didn't catch her name. She has a cute bob esque haircut and we bonded over being from Orange County CA. And. She needs a raise! She was sweet ti the whole family and even celebrated our birthday guest without singing when she noticed the appalled look at the thought. The food was top notch and everything she reccomended was great! Prices were fair for the lovely atmosphere food and service and I had leftovers to spare! Next time you are looking for a date night. Have to drop a shout-out for Cibo's "House-Made Pepperoni" Pizza. That caught my eye tonight, I was quite intrigued, so I ordered one up via Grubhub. I was quite impressed! The house-made pepperoni was delicious, and not the sliced salami style you're accustomed to. It reminded me of nduja in a way, just not as spicy. High Five for excellence and creativity. The only downside is the woman at the DoorDash window who very curtly said "We'll seat you at 5" when it was 5:01 or past. I have visited Cibo a multitude of times and I love coming back! Oddly enough, every single time I've visited, I order the Wild Mushroom Ravioli. My FAVORITE thing! I rave about it to everyone! Their drinks are also delicious - they have a variety of cocktails, NA drinks (I love their non-alc G&T), and wines (during my recent visit, we tried one of the sparkling red wines and I enjoyed it!). The service is spot-on - the servers are attentive and ensure that the table's food comes out in a timely manner at relatively the same time. The ambiance of the space is lovely as well - there is ambient lighting that isn't heavy overhead-lighting, and the plates have such unique designs... honestly dining here feels like I'm in my own living room. There are plenty of booths and table seating, all providing a cozy vibe. This is also my best friend's favorite restaurant, so I am bound to visit many more times in the future! I highly recommend! Be aware that this restaurant is on Division so street parking is the only option - on weekends in the evening, it'll be difficult to find anything close by. We went there for Easter dinner and were once again absolutely wowed by the food. Started with the fried shrimp appetizer. It was lightly breaded in tempura batter and was absolutely DELICIOUS with the spicy aioli. My husband is a chef and is really picky about his caesar salad as he is a master at it. He ordered it for us to share and it was perfect.. served the traditional way with whole romaine leaves and the dressing was garlicky and rich. Superb! Entrees were porcini ravioli.. Divine! and the Uncle Vittorio's Rib Ragu.. Both were excellent. Sara our server is an absolute gem.. lovely and attentive. Great Italian joint that has very delicious food and a lot to choose from on the menu so it can be a little overwhelming, but all the descriptions of the dishes sound tantalizing. I highly recommend getting the arancini 16 for a starter and the wild mushroom ravioli or the southern homestyle spaghetti and meatballs. After a long break, I came back to Cibo during my "Say goodbye to summer" frenzy and then found myself returning several times after that. Cibo is now one of my favorite places in all of Portland. I love the coziness of this place, especially at night. I usually grab a front-row seat at the bar and enjoy the lighting, the wooden bar-top, and the warmth radiating from the pizza oven. I've enjoyed their spaghetti and meatballs several times. It really hits the spot! And their Margherita pizza is delightful. They also have a great cocktail list and plenty of other dishes on their menu that I'd like to try someday. Service is always great. I'll be back! read more

I love this spot! My boyfriend and I went on a double date with our friends the week before Christmas. The ambiance is very spacious / high ceilings, but still manages to be cozy. Our server was very attentive checking in right when we needed something without being overbearing. Everything we ordered was delicious! There are a lot of good places to eat in this neighborhood, but Cibo is near the top of my list. The decor is sort of casual elegant. Service was friendly and cheerful. The menu is quite extensive, with helpful descriptions, and everything we ordered was delicious. With main, cocktail, and dessert, dinner came to about $50/person, which seems reasonable. read more

My son made a reservation for a family's birthday. We were seated right away, as we entered the restaurant. After the rest of our party arrived, menus were passed out, our drink orders taken promptly as were our food orders. One son was saying: he'd want to come here for his birthday! The birthday boy was given not one but two desserts (one to go). The seating was a bit tight, the son in the middle was kicking the guy in the middle. The food was NOT good. I had Saugus risotto. It wasn't cooked all the way and was gummy and lacked flavor. TERRIBLE. My husband had the bolognese and it was slimy and lacked flavor. The bread was bad and bland, the drinks were just blah and all four of us hated our food. We were all polite and just dealt with it but such a waste. It was our families first night in Portland and I was SO embarrassed I had picked the spot to eat. We always say how great ptown is for food... well not this place. I really need to update my review. It's been a long time and I have been back twice for the pizza. Big difference from my old review. It was very good and it was nice they were willing to add prosciutto to the margarita pizza. The flavor was great, the prosciutto was thin and good crust. I will still say Ken's is better but here you also have many other options too and on a weeknight you can get in pretty easily. My husband had the pasta with sugp and really enjoyed it too. Another time I need to get that for myself. I even got a pizza to go once and walked 10 minutes home with it and was still very good. I like the atmosphere and cool bar design. We were going out with friends and decided to make a reservation at Cibo. I'm so glad we did because I would have been disappointed in missing out on this delicious meal! The environment was cozy but I didn't feel packed in and we were able to have comfortable conversation without having to raise our voices whatsoever to be heard. The staff was great. Our waiter was charming and attentive. We all had different vegetarian dishes with appetizers and wonderful desserts. The pizza was good and could have been a main dish for two. The raviolis were also very tasty and more reasonable for one person each. I loved the polenta fries and they were an excellent way to start the meal. However, my favorite dish was the olive oil cake for dessert. That's what will bring me back sooner rather than later. read more

This was our first time at Cibo restaurant in Portland. We didn't know what to expect, as we were taken there by a couple family members who were familiar with the place. All we knew was that it was Italian! The restuarant itself has a nice, cozy, warm vibe to it. Great for pleasant conversation without being too loud. Our server, Steve, was absolutely great! Friendly, helpful, and attentive. What more can you ask for? I had the Duck / pork ragu and it was so tasty! I have to say though, that the duck got a bit lost in the pork, but it was still delicious! I also ordered the Old Fashioned, and it too, was delicious! Visited for Dumpling Week and ended up having a full meal here. Their dumplings were out of this world! Very filling and rich in flavor. Was craving some good ole spaghetti and their southern style hit the spot! The meatballs were huge and the entire dish had a nice lingering spice from the peppers used. This is my favorite restaurant in Portland. I finally went into the restaurant after hearing about it for so long and every single time I've been here, I've had the most exquisite food with ample portions and the most satiating flavors of Italian food and wine that you could get in Portland. It is comfort food at its finest with the best local ingredients and everything is off The chart delicious. I've had the pizza, I've had pasta, and I've had steak twice. Everything is delicious and I can't get enough of it. The decanting of the wine, the sides to the bread with olives and oil/vinegar. Every single thing I eat, seems to be at the highest level of ingredients with a lot of attention to detail put into everything. The vibe of the place with the uplifting atmosphere, the decor and the righteously amazing vibes of Chrissie the head bartender...makes me keep coming back for birthdays and special occasions. I actually don't eat out very much with fast food or takeout because I save my money for this place. I can spend $20 at Taco Bell or I could spend $20 here and usually go home very full with leftovers. The staff is always checking up on me and my guests. Everybody is really kind and engaging. Whenever I sit at the bar other people that are there we have a nice talk usually about the food and the restaurant. It just is a very inviting open comfortable and delicious comfort food kind of place. If you drink wine, ask Chrissie. I'm not a wine drinker yet Every time I go to Cibo I end up drinking wine! She knows. Her Moscow mules are divine! Chrissie can make the most delicious concoctions and she literally looks like she's creating something magical when she comes up with something new. Her cocktails are on point and she's always innovating her craft. Attention to detail for every single drink. The best recommendations for what they have that night. She informed me that they bake their bread fresh every day. Foods are sourced locally and every single dish makes me want more. I'm trying to get some variety in what I order yet. The steak does it for me every time. The pizza is the best I've had in town and sooooo good. I'm very picky about pizza as it's my favorite food yet this crust and the delicious cheese and greens and everything they put into their pizza is so tasty. If the Italians that I know in my community, make this a regular spot, then I also know it's good! It's authentic righteously on point delicious food every single time I go. All my people come with me to this restaurant for special occasions. Do yourself a favor and visit Cibo! If somebody's coming in from out of town... Take them to Cibo! To celebrate my children's accomplishments, I take them to Cibo! I already have two reservation reservations for the first week of January and I went there last night. It's this good! A lot of people post pictures of the food there and I've had every dish that I've seen online... But what means the most to me about this place is the whole experience of bringing My special people here to experience, uplifting vibes, delicious and exquisite food, the most incredible drinks, and an atmosphere that takes us out of our daily life and gives us such joy and pleasure to experience.
