I will visit the Flying Squirrel any opportunity I get. They're located in downtown Mansfield, so it's a little bit of a trek for me, but it's worth it. Their coffee is deliciously strong, their muffins and pastries are tasty. Their service is spot-on. Sometimes you might have a bit of a wait because everything is made fresh and to-order. The environment is my favorite. Airplane parts make up benches and wall decor. Search for the squirrels hidden everywhere, including the ceiling beams. Enjoy!
Flying Squirrel is right down the street from where I work, and after this visit, I'm very happy that's the case. I didn't want anything that included dairy, but I did want something familiar. I decided to go with the Chai, and the young lady at the register suggested I replace the milk with oat milk. That was a new combination for me, but I agreed. It was delicious! I really enjoyed it, and outside of my visit, I never would have considered replacing the dairy with oat milk. I also picked a chicken salad sandwich on a croissant, which was exceptional. I removed the top croissant, and I could still taste the freshness and butteriness of the bread. It was so fresh, and the chicken salad was perfect! As before, the ambiance is refreshing and rustic. When meeting with friends, I'd suggest FS as a meet-up spot. It's cozy, warm, and the customer service is always so welcoming and knowledgeable.
I brought the whole family over to Flying Squirrel for some goodies. I ordered the Sopapilla latte while my husband ordered the S'mores latte. We both enjoyed our sips, and the staff were all so friendly. And they do have Apple Pay in case you were wondering! When I visited, it was popping with customers. I did find a spot to sit and sip by the back entry door though. The energy was incredible on this beautiful Texas morning!
Today my husband and I went to Flying Squirrel for the first time; I finished my coffee more than half way, then opened the lid as we arrived home, only to my shock see a living fly that's still moving in the cup! How disgusting and unsanitary!! The City of Mansfield Health Department should be notified and the City needs to inspect this coffee shop very carefully to ensure coffee/food they sell is safe for consumption.
I'm visiting from out of town and decided to try some local coffee shops in the area. This was one of the best stops I made--the service was wonderful and the coffee was delicious. It's a small inside but there was plenty of tables and seats to relax and work from or just to enjoy some company. I recommend the squirrel coffee- pleasantly delicious and the perfect pick me up!
Update: December 19th The Flying Squirrel is an amazing place, as soon as you enter the establishment you can smell the aroma of exquisite coffee that they make. Once again, I was very impressed with the two young ladies that greet you with a smile. They are knowledgeable and very helpful. I ordered the squirrel on ice. Yummy ! The establishment decor is an aviation theme and it's fun looking for all the little squirrels about the building. (Not real of course) It's quaint, appealing, and an excellent place to get a fantastic cup of coffee in Mansfield, Texas. You can park on the street or in the back. They are disabled friendly. Whether you sit inside or outside, it is very clean and I enjoyed the view. (I enjoy people watching at times). Yet their wonderful decor I believe will keep you busy checking everything out ! I highly recommend Flying Squirrel at 110 N Main Street. Treat yourself to a wonderful cup of coffee or on ice. I promise they won't let you down on the flavor and the hospitality. Flying Squirrel Coffee Co is a great coffee spot that had its own unique atmosphere and decor. The menu is extensive with signature and seasonal drinks. The service was amazing with the staff taking time to answer all our questions and make suggestions. Definitely recommend stopping in if you're in the area or passing through.
I love when a coffee shop has a theme. The Flying Squirrel DEFINITELY commits to their theme! Planes & squirrels together seems like an odd concept but they make it work. This place is quirky & it's exactly the kind of spot you'd want to show to your friends. There is limited seating, so be mindful of that if you're planning on coming to hang out versus grabbing your coffee to go. It can also get pretty crowded during busy times while everyone is standing around waiting on their to go orders. What I loved most about this place was the staff. They were all very friendly, seemingly happy, and never missed a beat despite being slammed with customers on a Saturday morning. I appreciate that they bring your coffee directly to you, even being as busy as they are, instead of calling out your order. Sometimes it really is the little things. I didn't get to snap a picture, but they had a seasonal menu that was so cool! I'm used to places having the traditional pumpkin spice fall drinks, but Flying Squirrel had a Halloween drink board! I'm also a sucker for a good iced shaken espresso and I don't find it on many menus that aren't mega chain coffee shops. I appreciate that they have it here! I ordered one with brown sugar & vanilla and it was exactly what I hoped it would be. Their coffee just has such a good roasted flavor. Overall, there's lots of options to choose from for coffee drinkers & non coffee drinkers. There's so many options in flavors that I truly believe there's something for everyone. My only regret is that I didn't snag a white chocolate raspberry muffin.
A downtown treasure! I highly recommend stopping by if you get a chance. Due to it being small, seating is limited. What's pretty neat about it is that even though they have some small tables, the larger ones (seats 8 or so) you just share with other patrons. Okay, you have to if you want to stay & sit but this is the vibe that a coffeeshop should be... like you don't feel like your personal space is invaded. There is also seating outside, both in the front & back. I'm not sure how it's always decorated but it was very patriotic, maybe since we celebrate Independence Day in July. Whether it's seasonal or like that all the time, I liked it. Very cute! Huge drink menu, it can be overwhelming but I loved it. I'm a coffee person but for someone who isn't its very detailed & explains what each type of drink is (like my friend asked what is a cortado) with something for everyone. There are some snacks there too. They have some creative drinks & a seasonal menu they also have displayed by the register. They have their menu printed & copies at the register so you can browse though at your own convenience. Sugar free options made me super happy! Purple Rain - lemonade & I think butterfly pea tea? Pretty! Iced sugar free caramel latte - great bold coffee taste Hot sugar free caramel sugar free mocha latte - this was perfect The staff was super sweet, if they get the chance they'll bring your drink to where you are seated. They look like they have fun working together. Busy place, as it should be! We were there until close (which is why some of my photos show many empty tables, I took pics as were were leaving) but was happy to see others were stopping in to order coffee to go up until the very end, the staff seemed happy to oblige! Add this to your list, you must go here!

Super friendly staff! Warm and inviting coffee shop! Thankful for Yelp elites 12 days of Christmas Cheers event for working with Flying Squirrel! This morning I got to try out their December holiday menu! I got a hot Santa's Cookies and stayed to enjoyed the drink! It came in a huge comfy coffee mug! Which made it even more enjoyable! I didn't realize that they had an outside patio in the back but that maybe more enjoyable in the spring or summer time! Lots of seating to study and enjoy the shop! This coffee shop is close to my work and in a cute downtown area so we stopped in for coffee. The baristas were great and able to give recommendations and answer questions. I ultimately ordered the mexican mocha half sweet. It was so good, I was drawn in by the fact it has a small amount of cayenne in it. I like spicy regardless but its not too spicy even if thats not really your thing. read more

Stopped in after church for a coffee with the family. The Maya Angelou had blackberry, and vanilla which I didn't think I would like but it was soooo goood! Not only that but the taste transitioned throughout me drinking it. It was a strong blueberry flavor initially but then disappeared midway through with a light light hint of blueberry. I was looking for a nice spot to sit and get some work done. I drove by this place a couple times, finally decided to stop one day and I'm so glad I did! I got an iced coffee with a brownie. The brownie was delicious and they warmed it up, perfection. The iced coffee was smooth and tasted great. The employees were so nice and their logo is adorable. I came here for 12 days of Yelp and was pleasantly surprised by the location. Downtown Mansfield was decorated for Christmas and had public parking nearby. The barista was helpful with their holiday menu. They had a page full of options of variations of hot chocolate. I went with the pumpkin spice hot chocolate and a blueberry and lemon scone that was from a local bakery. The pumpkin spice hot chocolate was fresh, flavorful and had a good balance of sugar, milk, chocolate and pumpkin spice. The lemon and blueberry scone was dense, flavorful and subtly sweet. The pumpkin spice hot chocolate paired well with the scone. I'll have to check out other shops in this area as well as return to the flying squirrel. I stumbled upon this gem through a Yelp Elite event! Let me just start off by saying that flying squirrels coffee has their flavor on point! I love that they have many different flavors to choose from, including holiday specials. This is not your regular coffee shop. It is a unique by name and flavor! Atmosphere was also very retro. Parking may be hard if downtown Mansfield gets busy. The latte I ordered was called Santa's Cookies and it literally tastes like Santa's Cookies. The baristas are very talented. 5 stars for Mansfield. Probably the best overall straight-up coffee shop I've been to in Mansfield so far. It has a somewhat kitschy interior with a decent amount of indoor seating plus a couple of small cafe tables along the sidewalk out front. They use and sell Salter Bros coffee, roasted in Arlington. I tried the Blushing Beauty (strawberry & rose) seasonal latte and the banana walnut coffee cake. The latte was good but the coffee cake tasted a little bit stale, even warmed up. Wow! I came into this wonderful coffee shop for something other than Starbucks! Yum! Wonderful service, atmosphere, and delicious drinks! I live in the area and did not realize they were here. If you're looking for a tasty treat and a "home-towny" atmosphere, you need to walk not run to this coffee shop. I will be back... like tomorrow! The Maple Leaf Latte has a maple flavor, mixed with butter pecan for a decadent warm surprise for your mouth! My son got the Snickerdoodle. In his words "it's bussin' - kid slang for "it's delicious!". He said it tasted like a caramel, white chocolate dessert with a hint of cinnamon. Not bad for a 9-year old's review! Fantastic addition to this small, growing city!!! Friendly service, delicious coffee, beautiful shop. It's exactly what we need! Flying Squirrel is located right on Main St in the middle of Mansfield's tiny, old downtown. I was excited to try them out when I first saw the business pop up. To be honest, I didn't set my expectation high at all, especially after being disappointed with pretty much all the other non-chain coffeeshops in Arlington/Mansfield area. To my surprise, this has become my go to favorite coffeeshop! For each holidays, they go all out with decoration. It changes every month or every couple months depends on which big holiday is coming up. So far I have seen their decorations for Xmas, Valentine's, St. Patrick's, and Easter. The space is rustic, but the decoration is definitely the highlight and kinda give them the signature. 1 star It's a full on family owned business, which we love to support whenever and as often as we can. The owner is extremely nice and friendly. Besides couple young staff members, I'm about 95% sure she also has her 2 kids work at the shop as well. Not only do the kids do everything, 1 of them is also the occasional entertainer, playing his guitar and hosting a little live music session in the shop. 1 star I have not tried any of their pastries, but we love their latte. My all time favorite coffee shop is Buon Giorno, but Flying Squirrel makes me feel like I've been cheating on my beloved coffee shop by coming here more often for their delicious latte, which I think is just as good as Buon Giorno (this is extremelyyyyy rare, and plus, they're wayyyy closer too). Definitely 2 stars So far they don't offer any latte art, but it doesn't feel right for me to take away a star, or maybe I'm being biased. Anyhow, they just added boba drinks to the menu, so I'm positive they're open to change and improvement, which I have a feeling latte art will soon be offered here as well. 1 star They have only been opened for a few months, so I really hope they would make it thru this crazy time. I love this little coffee show, they always decorated the season, they always have fun drinks that are tasty. There's always snacks and fun things around them. I favorite thing about this coffee shop is the fact that she's dedicated to her father he was a pilot in the Air Force... And so the whole thing is Air Force themed. I will hunt for decent coffee. I can't remember what coffee I ordered, but it was mainstream. Nothing out of the ordinary. Let's see if they can make quality standard coffee. It was a mocha cappuccino. My wife tried the orange-flavored Edgar Allan Poe. I liked mine. She did not. She said it tasted funny. It shows the risk of trying new drinks. Not much in the choice of food. The focus is on the drink, not the food. We ordered a blueberry muffin. Good, but nothing special. I would stick to the coffee. The staff were friendly. The father of the owner was a pilot. This is where the name came from. This is why there's aviation decor. For me, it's the atmosphere which stands out.
