When I walked in, the employee behind the counter made eye contact with me, then walked away to the back without greeting me. I stood at the counter waiting and looking over the menu before he finally came over and asked how he could help me. No hello, no welcome, no warmth. I ordered my coffee and sat down to read, and while I was there, I watched him greet every other customer after me with a much warmer, more upbeat welcome. He also acknowledged people as they left, but did not do the same for me. The coffee was good, although a little sweet. I also purchased one of the specialty drinks from the cooler because the packaging caught my attention, but I honestly didn't like it. As a customer, the lack of basic hospitality stood out more than the coffee. I'm big on customer service, and this experience left a bad taste. I won't be returning.

The music is usually original acoustic Celtic, Bluegrass, or Folk. It's good wholesome fun for the whole family ;0) P.S. Coffee will be served. That's why it's called a "coffee house." LOL. Also, if you're a musician from out of town, they will provide you with lodging for the night, a hot supper, and a tasty breakfast at the church to help you out. Cool! This is very similar to Uncle Calvin's Coffee House, except Uncle Calvin's doesn't provide 2 hots and a cot for their artists. BTW, the peeps who work there are all volunteers so do be a good sport and pick up after yourself. Don't litter and treat them like servants because they're not. I stopped in and I was so impressed with the space and the vibe. The coffee has always been great but the beauty and the vibe of the cafe is worth the visit! I was happy to see that the owner was behind the counter and has included his children in his dream. There is an African heritage gift shop, a small stage, bathrooms, and a study/ quiet room. He is located around the corner from the planet fitness in the same area as Shipleys.
