The Dr is really great! He takes his time, tries to connect on a personal level, and tries to make his business feel like a local shop where customers are also friends. The staff, the ones who do all the on-the-floor tasks are not so charming, friendly or helpful. It's so painfully obvious that their main/only goal is to upsell, upsell, upsell. They don't really care if the frames they're choosing for you is actually suitable for your face. They just want to make sure you fall in love with frames that are $500+ I got flattered into buying a pair beautiful plastic YSL frames, but being Asian with very little nose bridge, these plastic frames (not very adjustable) are super annoying as they constantly slip off my nose. Seems like advice your "optometrist" office would give you, if they actually cared about you. Well, they did a good job selling me since I walked out of there dropping $1500 for two progressive glasses! Oh, and that's after insurance. Whatever that means because the two "saleswomen" and the guy who also does the "fitting" are clueless and can't explain your benefits to save their lives. Shame on me for falling prey to their inauthentic "help" fitting me for frames. Mind you, when I was getting fit/in shopping mode, they were sweet as pie but when I went back in to ask for an adjustment so my $1000 glasses could fit me better, they could give zero sh!ts. So transparent. All I can advise is buyer beware and stand firm on your budget. I don't think they have frames for under $400. I wish I can give more stars because it is quite convenient to get an appt. read more

It's funny how sometimes the people who are so central to your well-being are the ones for whom you never stop to write a Yelp review. Instead, we leave it to those who have an axe to grind or who never even actually met the service provider. Well, I want to correct that oversight right now. Foad Shirazian has been my eye doctor for countless years. (I'm sure I actually _could_ count them but I simply don't have the time.) Foad has not only taken care of my eyes, but also those of my three growing (now grown) children, for well over a decade. Over the years, I've come to regard him not just as a doctor, but as a trusted friend and health advisor. As my health changed over the years (aging is not for the weak of spirit), Foad helped me to find a new primary doctor who in turn introduced me to my new cardiologist, orthopedic specialist, and neurologist. My primary health team is all working in sync - thanks to Foad. I had no idea when I first came to Foad some thirteen years ago (okay, so now I counted!) that I would be opening up the door to a better way of taking care of myself. But more importantly, I need to talk with you about Foad Shirazian the doctor. Foad knows his patients. REALLY knows them. He spends far more time with his patients than any other optometrist I've ever seen. And over the years, I've seen many. Rather than a rushed "better on 1 or 3?" exam and a few blurry, blinking stares at an eye chart across the room, Foad looks at my eyes, examines them optically, explains the digital images to me and tracks my progress from each appointment to the next. And only then starts to compare the lenses and numbers. I also get texts and calls from him -- from HIM, not his staff -- following up on my progress after my appointments. Are his frames a bit more upscale and the prices sometimes a bit higher? Possibly. But the quality is higher as well. When you choose to go to a sole practitioner rather than a big box chain (I'm talking about you, Lenscrafters!), you get more focused attention. And you are supporting a business in your own community. With Foad, you are a patient and valued client, not just a number. His staff all know me and my family and they greet us warmly whenever one of us walks through his door -- even when we are coming in unannounced. Foad Shirazian has seen me and my family through a lot over the years. And thanks to his expert care, I know I've seen it all more clearly. I won't be going back again. I think doctor Shirazian is a wonderful doctor so please note this review has absolutely nothing to do with him! I've gone here about four times at this point because I really wanted to give it a chance. Time and time again I feel so pressured by the other employees. Also- this place is significantly marked up. I found a pair of glasses that retail for $300 and they're trying to sell the frames for $675??? Excuse me??! This most recent time, I tried to pick out a pair of sunglasses that I believed total would be roughly $400 since that's what I know the lenses would cost plus the frames- it came out to $950?! With my insurance!!! And then the woman tried to tell me "oh why don't I show you the price without insurance" like that somehow matters??? Then she asked me if I can't afford it to have me do a payment plan. I can afford it, I just don't believe in wasting my money when I don't have to?! Later I found out that the glasses they sold me two years ago were made of PLASTIC!!!!! I didn't understand why they were getting so scratched and they didn't tell me why that was the case. I took them to my original doctor and they told me it was made of plastic. And no that's not what I wanted I never agreed to put plastic lenses into a Tom Ford frame. My Tom ford glasses from my other place have been perfect for almost 7 years. Just no care in the world. To top it off- whoever the guy is that helps you find glasses- you need to stop being so pushy and make people feel bad about themselves for not wanting to pay $3,000 for two pairs of glasses. This place is such a rip off. I seriously cannot believe it. And then!! They said "oh if it's too much then we'll do $2700 for you" excuse me? So you can change the prices?!? This is just so ridiculous clearly they just want your money. Go elsewhere to pick out frames you're being ripped off. read more

Since I have been coming her for a few years, Dr. Shirazian and his staff are always welcoming to me every time I come for a visit. They're very personable and attentive and makes be feel comfortable being there. As far as the services go, they do seem a bit on the higher end side, but considering how convenient they are to me, it's worth it. I also think the prices seem a bit steep but if you're not comfortable buying from them, they'll be happy to provide the prescription for elsewhere. I do buy contacts from the doctor here but since I wear glasses more, I go to Warby Parker as I think their prices are more in line with my budget. read more

I'm sure Dr. Shirazian is a great doctor and a nice person as so many of these reviews state but I won't ever find out. The woman who answered his phone today quoted $250 for a contact lens exam. I told her that was too high and she said "maybe I can talk to the doctor and do it for $200 or $150". I thanked her and told her it was too much. Imagine my surprise looking at Dr. Shirazian's website and seeing the following: Contact lens Exam Promotion $90 Only for Soft contact lenses Only for under -2.00 astigmatism Including 2 times follow up Regular price is $150 So the woman who answered the phone was going to charge me $100 more than regular price and $160 more than the special price!! This was my first time in Mr. Shirazian's office. His office is well equipped. I was there for optometry. He examine my eyes by couple of devices and equipments he has and talk to me during this process. My eyes were Ok though, I had dizziness. I was quitting some medication and he told me that's the reason not my eyes. After I consulted with my primary doctor, he confirmed Dr. Shirazians's comment. Dr. Shirazian, not only he's expert in his job, but also he's so friendly! I mean, that's not all about science, but also connecting and making communication with the patient. Once again Dr foad and his awesome team made it happen.I moved to Lancaster, CA which is a good distance away. Regardless I still have not found another optometrist who provides quality eye wear like Foad and his team. Zeiss lenses are the way to go if you have a strong prescription like eye do. My family and I have been coming to see Foad for years. He's very patient and conducts a thorough eye exam. Today I came in to get some information on contact lenses, since I have never tried them. Foad sat with me and went over the three different option, prices and everything else that goes along with it. When he put in my contacts for the first time I was very nervous and it took about four attempts but we finally got them in! He was very calm during the whole thing and made me feel very comfortable. Next was taking them out, and putting them back in myself.... Foad patiently walked me through it and took the time to make sure I understood exactly what I was doing. Dr. Shirazian takes his time while performing his examinations for eyecare/wear. The often-time dreaded and/or confusing eye exam of " is 1 better than 2 or is 3 better than 1" is quite easily performed by Dr. Shirazian and relaxing. He doesn't rush you through the exam. I have never felt more welcomed at a Dr.'s office before! Dr. Shirazian made me feel like I was getting my eyes checked by my best friend! After being greeted by the Dr. himself at the front door, we went through what we would be doing today as well as caught up on how everything has been since my last check up. Not to mention the extensive selection of glasses that are actually in style, going to Dr. Shirazian once will only make you want to keep coming back! All I can say is wow! The eye sight test took no longer than 5 min and Dr. Shirazian made it even more unnoticeable by chatting to me about my day as if we'd been friends for years. After the test, he showed me the selections of frames he had available for me and once I saw the one I liked, Dr. Shirazian went above and beyond to make sure I could get what I wanted even though it was a little out of my price range. Dr. Shirazian is the best! Have not needed glasses since cataract surgery on both my eyes back in 2010, but have recently noticed difficulty when reading a book. Went in for a eye exam. Dr. Shirazian was so very kind and understanding. Genuinely interested in me as a person not just my eyes. Turned out my eyes were fine, but testing revealed I did need glasses for book reading and computer work, which I ordered. Was given a discount on my frames which was a pleasant surprise! From The First Time I went to Dr. Foad Shirazian for my eye exam I felt very comfortable with the Staff from the moment I walked into the office. There was no waiting as I had a scheduled appointment. I met with Dr. Shirazi for my Eye Exam. Dr. Shirazian made me feel like he was a member of my family. We discussed many things about me and my healthcare. Dr. Shirazian gave some samples to Vitamins especially for eye care heath. I have severe dry eye, I was also given some Wet wipes as samplwe that have been very helpful to control the Dry Eye condition I have. After a complete Eye exam I decided to look for a New pair of glasses I then was referred to Aiden, hopefully I've spelled his name correctly. I was shown several different styles of Glasses. I tried some of them on. I liked each of the different style of glasses that Aiden suggested. finally, I decided on a new pair of glasses that were completely different from the ones I wore before. I have been wearing rimless silver framed glasses for years. When Aiden showed me New Black Frames that were without nose pads. I immediately noticed the difference between the pair of glasses I had been wearing for years. The difference between the New Black pair was incredible. I knew that I was going to purchase them after feeling how good they felt and looked on me. Also no more nose pad irritation on the bridge of my nose. A major reason why I chose the New Black Rimmed Glasses. They have been Very Comfortable To wear all day long and night. Doctor Shirazian Ended my eye pain after 9 years. I did lasik 9 years ago. After surgery I had blurry vision with my right eye. The doctor who did surgery ignored my complaints and told me it would get better with time. I went to so many well known ophthalmologists who couldn't diagnose me and all ignored my symptoms.
