I didn't go here for my exam, but randomly came in to just take a look at what kind of frames they had. I'm pretty picky about frames. The woman working the front was very nice and helpful. Me and the BF were both looking for glasses, so I felt a little bad that she had to keep going back and forth to different displays to show us frames. This isn't one of the offices where you can try on frames on your own. They are locked in glass cases and the only opening is behind the counter, so you do need assistance. They had such a great selection of frames! They had Kate Spade, Gucci, Prada, Tory Burch, Burberry, Tom Ford, RayBan, and so much more! They also had Penguin, which I am not familiar with, but the BF was. They had a nice variety of frames per brand, as well! I was in Frame Heaven! The woman also mentioned they had a brand that was primarily for Asians because of our nose :) read more

And even worse, after 30 minute they let the one after me get service first and starting to blame me being late - I AM actually punctual at my appointment! Don't you hate discovering an awesome new place AFTER you move out of state?!?! UGH. So we decided to get some frames right in the middle of the mad rush at the end of the year when everyone else's VSP expires too. Plus we were back in Cali and walked by this spot on the way to get our pho on. I already got an exam early in the year, so I was strictly shopping for frames. Hubs got lucky and Dr. Feliciano squeezed him in for an exam - on a Saturday morning too - so he could get frames and contacts. She was really sweet and was even able to help us pick frames - she recommended a few brands considering our face shape and lifestyle (read: kid friendly) and was honest if it looked bad (finally an honest opinion!). It's refreshing to find a place that doesn't try to push the crazy expensive frames but actually tries to help you find the right ones for your face. I especially appreciate that she took the time to help us afterwards until she had her next exam to do. Awesome customer service! They have a bunch of frames to choose from - brands that you know (Gucci, Prada, RayBans) and some that you probably don't know, that I personally prefer. I love that there were "asian no-nose" specific brands too. The frames we both ended up with (IC Berlin) are super durable and trendy, perfect for getting yanked off my face by my 1 and 2 year olds. This place used to be ok but now it is just horrible. They sent me a text and an email with a link to schedule an appointment for my annual eye exam. I clicked the link, picked up a time that's available and hit the submit button. Nothing from this place after. Today I arranged my day off and beat the traffic to this place and they told me the online link is just an appointment "REQUEST", not an appointment!! REALLY?? why you don't let your customer know before hand? They think people have all the free time like they do. Oh well ~ they are much more expensive then other places anyway. I've been coming to Focus Optometry for about 4 years now for my contact and glasses. I've been seeing Dr. Feliciano for the last 4 years and have had nothing but a great experience! She is so understanding and willing to work with you and help you understand about my insurance options and the best way to save my money. Her staff is amazing, always willing to help no matter what time I walk in. They also called my insurance company to help verify a few things and waited and gave me a few spare contacts to hold me over. Nice, patient optometry staff. You have to ask someone to open the cases for you so you can't browse by yourself, but the staff were friendly and accommodating. I have a high prescription so I'm particular about my glasses, and they were quite willing to answer all my questions. Good experience, next time I need glasses, I'll come back here. Oh, and they carry TC Charton "Asian fit" glasses, which do seem to make a bit of a difference if you normally struggle with getting your nosepads to fit well. read more

We have had a very positive experience at this clinic thus far! Dr. Feliciano is so wonderful with children, and both of my young boys felt completely comfortable and look forward to their appointments with her. Dr. Feliciano is pretty booked up, but has always managed to squeeze my kids in for follow ups as needed which we truly appreciate, even late in the day after seeing so many other patients. I would highly recommend. She is very honest, candid and thorough, and just a lovely person. We are grateful to have such a wonderful practice here in foster city! Very nice Dr and they have good selections of frames. I found this place when I was dropping off my package at the UPS store. Easy to make appointment as long as you provide your vision insurance. I did have to wait three weeks for a weekend appointment but that's understandable considering weekends are popular. I love Tiffany frames and I'm glad I was able to use my insurance for it. FYI I didn't shop around to compare prices. So far I'm happy with my new glasses. read more

Dr. Feliciano and her staff were wonderful. I went there for the first time as my previous doctor retired. I have to say they all took their time to answer my questions and each one spent a good amount of time from the eye pre-screen, to the eye exam and then reviewing my lens options yesterday. Dr. Feliciano also took time to ask me all kind of questions to ensure she captured all the background information. I've been coming here for the last few years and I highly recommend this office for your optometry needs! I see Dr. Feliciano, and she is extremely personable and helpful. I've always felt comfortable during my visits and she gladly will explain further any medical or insurance concerns I have. The front desk staff members are also very helpful, as they often check to see if there are rebate offers for my contact lens orders so that I can get the best deal. I'm giving 4 stars because I've only ordered contacts from here, so I can't comment on the eyeglass purchasing experience, but from what I've experienced I have no complaints! read more

Today my child had urgent problem to be checked by Dr. Feliciano, after explained my situation in their voicemail. Someone told me they were able to find a cancelled appointment, but it was with Dr. Zhi. I said ok this is fine since we need to see an optometrist soon. I picked up my kid from her school and rushed her to the office. Boy, what a surprise, Dr. Zhi told me her equipment was broken, with no powered lights to look into my kid's eyes, it just happened that morning. Excuse me, we made the appointment like mid-morning, and you had the whole time to call me and notify me, yet you waited me to rush over and apologize to me because there is nothing you could do? She then checked my kid's skin condition and asked to see her medication for facial eczema. You must be kidding me, why do I have to explain what medication my kid was using when she was there to be seen by an optometrist? She said when the equipment is fixed, her staff can call me back for a real check for her eye. Do you think my kid and me were there to chat with you in Chinese? You think you could just bill us for the talk? You wasted so much of our time, we should bill you for our waste time. We will never see you again, you are so unprofessional, I just hope you are able to keep your license and practicing privilege. Don't cross the line and advise in the medical field you were not licensed for, and be careful when you do advise your patient in the field you were licensed. You have no right to ask my kid medical history outside your specialty! read more

They are extremely pricey. And did not tell me the charges upfront and charged me 55$ in the end for the contact lens prescription. I had got an eye exam for contact lens and glasses for 60$ without an insurance previously and these guys just took 55$ for just contact lens prescription. They also take 39$ for some other exam and threatened me saying my eyes will be hazy with some solution if I don't pay the 39$ this was also something which no other doc had done before. Just seemed like they love to charge you as much as possible for everything unnessary. read more

I started a new job nearby in Foster City and decided to make some doctor appointments the day my insurance started, called Focus 11am and they said they could take me at 12 noon so I came by during my lunch hour to get my eyeglass exam. It had been a few years since my last exam, so I was pleasantly surprised with the new eye scan technology that meant I didn't have to get my eyes dilated and walk back into the office with the funky temporary glasses. I have a couple of minor conditions with my eyes and Dr Feliciano was great explaining how those were progressing and my options long term. Finally, it was also nice to be tested for a regular prescription and a slightly different one for sitting at the computer. My previous optometrists never mentioned that. All I got here was the exam, so no idea about the frames and lenses service. read more

The lens price at Focus Optometry is higher than the other places. And the staff seems less patient if you do not follow their recommendations. They initially recommended thinner lenses with extra coating. However, the lenses that costs ~$250 in other places costs more than $400 here (all before insurance deduction). This means that I need to pay $100 more even with my insurance. When I asked the staff whether I can see any samples of the thinner lenses, they said that there were no samples available for the thinner lenses. I also asked about the paper chart that eye glass stores that usually have for showing the difference between lenses. They said that they did not have that either. read more

I have used this place for 3 years, and I even introduced many of my friends to here. Today, I got a call from here, they said I had $56 balance need to pay. They told me because they didn't do the eye exam for me when I purchased my glasses, so the insurance company paid $127 instead of $183. The $183 include the eye exam. So I have to pay $56 by myself. That's so ridiculous. I have to pay for their mistake. I paid $100 more when I bought the glasses, and several days later, I have to pay another $56 for them. That's a kind of cheat. When you buy glasses you should very carefully, because you can't know the exactly price. It looks like a fake label. read more

I went to this place because my wife has been using it for almost 2 years now and spoke very highly of it. I decided to get my eyes checked and that part was great. The problem started when I decided to get Sunglasses there. I picked up a pair and it only took 2 months for me to get them. Apparently they called me after I left and left a vm that I never got to ask me a question about type of lenses. 3 weeks goes by and I haven't hear from them so I decided to drop in. I said no problem and they where nice and said we will put a rush on it which they did. I think it took only a week and I got my glasses. I didn't like the prescription lenses so they swapped them with original lenses that I never used. I walked out from the place and noticed that the new lenses have scratches on them so I went back inside and they said no problem we will put a rush on it. 3 weeks later I get a vm your shades are ready. I go there and I get handed new air of shades. I pull them out from the bag and the lenses where super dirty nd looked like they might be covered in scratches. The lady said no problem let me clean it which she did. I walked outside and decided to try them on and there we go another surprise the new shades are falling of my face. I walked back inside and showed the problem where I get the answer "it is because the other glasses where fit to your face". Lady takes my shades and makes adjustments and hands me back my shades with dirty lanes that she put her hands all over it. Come on people you only charged little over $400.00 for the pair of shades. Which by the way I found online in few places for $209.00 but my wife said you are gone get great service and they fill fit them for you properly. The new shades after adjustment sit incorrect on my nose and put very uncomfortable pressure. So thank you very much for a nice pair of shades that I will never use. I don't know how about my wife and my daughter but I will never use this place again. read more

I got my trial lenses about three weeks ago,and today the right side of the contacts got torn in my eye when I put it on. It was torn into pieces. I can't describe how awful and scary it was, I couldn't even open my eye, and it turned all red. After half an hour I finally took it out. I paid 245$, for the eye exam and trial.In just two and a half weeks it's torn. I asked the lady that works there and she told me that the lenses were good a month. I know from my sister, she put it on for two months and it was good. Today, i called them, and requested right side only contacts. He told me that its been a month, which isn't true, and added, I need to order and pay 132$ or so to get the new one. I went to their clinic, and requested at least if she can check my eye if there is any piece left in my eye, and the front desk told me that it will cost another 65$ or something for doctor to check. Overall,doctor was a nice lady, but I am not happy with the service. I chose Focus Optometry because my sister suggested me and very close by. But I'll not go again. read more

Living in Foster city I wanted to find an optometrist close to home and was covered under my plan. I stopped by this location and my initial impression from the office was that it was clean, looked like it had a good selection of products and state of the art equipment. The personnel seem a bit lacking in customer service but I figured they maybe were having an off day. I set my appointment and returned a week later. I ended up waiting one hour past my appointment set time for my exam. No explanation, no apologies, just poor customer service. The only reason I did not leave was that I was desperate for a prescription as mine had expired. The exam was professional and thorough, but beware that they recommend tests that are not covered under your insurance and they are vague when stating this. I ordered contacts and was told that it would take approximately two weeks and they would call when they came in. After not hearing anything 3 weeks later I called and found out they were in stock. I figured I should have called at two weeks and not depended on them to follow through. This was all one year ago. Move to now. I wanted to re-order another year's supply of contacts and they told me I had to come in for an exam first (even though my prescription does not expire for another year). I was told it was their policy. Needless to say I have moved on to a different optometrist and can not recommend this place. read more

So, i'm a local plumber and as luck has it I get some rusty metal stuck in my left eye on a Saturday night, now being a plumber I know weekend work isn't cheap, so I decide to try to wait until Monday. Well sunday morning I feel like I was in a boxing match all night with Ali, so as I have been able to find much great help from yelp I look up an optometry shop that is open, Bam! I see focus optometry in foster city (not far from my home in San Carlos ), so I call and see about getting an appointment same day, a few hours later i'm meeting with Stephanie Tsang (optometrist) and she walks me into the exam room doing some test and answering any questions I had with much professionalism. Luckily the piece of metal had come out by that time so no extensive procedure was needed. Dr. Tsang wrote me a prescription for some drops and I was out the door within 35 min. BEST part of all it was only $65 for the visit (yes on a sunday)! Next day, Stephanie (the doc) personally calls me to see about my eye condition and if it has gotten better. That's appreciated, shows the commitment to caring. 1 week follow up call to let me know about my appointment. Being without insurance and paying directly out of pocket first thing I ask is how much is this visit going to cost? Nothing.... Dr. Tsang wanted me back to do a check up at no charge. that's customer satisfaction at its finest! I was referred to Dr. Feliciano by family. My first visit to Focus Optometry was not for me -- I run a group home for children with special needs in San Mateo. I brought one of the residents, a young man with an intellectual disability, behavior challenges, and uses a wheelchair, to see her for his annual eye exam and refraction for a new Rx for his lenses. He was cooperative, but I think it was because of Dr. Feliciano's professionalism, friendliness, patience, and warmth. She made this young man feel very comfortable and she gained his trust. Her staff was also very professional and kind. I returned for my own eye care needs recently. We had some issues with my insurance, but Dr. Feliciano was so kind to help me make it work. In the end, I got the care I needed with the excellent delivery of the service. The office is clean, modern, and they have updated technology and equipment. Any office can have that, right? It is clearly their quality service that sets them apart from the rest. Everyone in that office wants to make sure you walk away with a positive experience. They are prompt, friendly, helpful, and very accommodating to their patients/customers. Focus Optometry has excellent options for frames and I received great feedback during selection. I understood my options when I was choosing frames/lenses, and my insurance coverage because Jing explained everything to me clearly, which I truly appreciate. Just had my first appointment yesterday with Dr. Feliciano and staff. It's always a little nerve-wracking when you move to another city and have to search for new doctors and start all over again. So I was so happy to have found a great place near my home in Foster City. The staff at Focus Optometry are both welcoming and informative on the phone and in person. Dr. Feliciano herself was very friendly and thorough as she took her time to make sure my new prescription was right and that I could see clearly. She even gave me some tips about contact lenses wearing and relieving eye strain at work. When it came to payment I really appreciated her staff for being very detailed on the break down of charges and what is covered under my plan. I didn't feel forced to purchase anything. We went to Arts & Wine Festival in Foster City last weekend. Focus Optometry had a booth, so we asked about Ortho-k for my school-age daughter. Today, we met with Dr. Feliciano for a free consultation. I have a medical background and I have a general good idea about vision care. The doctor was honest, patient, and impressive. She reconfirmed the recommendations that we received from my daughter's optometrist. When I asked about me getting Ortho-k, she didn't recommend it, because of my low prescription for nearsightedness. The office has a nice atmosphere, many different pairs of glasses on display, and a friendly staff. I would recommend Focus Optometry to my family and friends. read more

My husband, son and I have been seeing Dr. Feliciano for two years. She does a very thorough exam and answers all of our questions with patience. I am a particularly detail oriented person, especially when it comes to my vision as I had worn glasses since the age of 11. With a prescription increasing every year, I finally had Lasik surgery in 1998. However, because of my age (53) I started wearing reading glasses since 2010. Dr. Feliciano suggested progressive glasses this year. My first pair didn't seem right even after 3 weeks, so they suggested I come back for a prescription check and then another exam. It was determined that a different type of progressive and frame should be tried. The office worked with my insurance to replace my pair with the new glasses. Jin and Helen (think that's her name, although I may be wrong) are fabulous with frame selection. They really know how to help you choose the best frame for you. The customer service rep was rude and argumentative. I had ordered a pair of glasses from them because they were close to my residence. I was told by their rep it will take two weeks. After 3 weeks I still haven't received my glasses.I had mentioned I needed the glasses urgently. When I call the rep blame me for not having extra pair of glasses and it is my fault the lab need more time. Not even once was the rep apologetic for their delay. I went to this place again this year to get my eyes checked and a new prescription for contacts. Feliciano is very thorough and really cares her patients. A few years ago I had an unhappy experience with an eye doctor at Palo Alto so once I found a really good doctor as Feliciano I stick to her service. Plus the office is modern and clean, parking is incredibly easy. The reason I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 is because I did feel my second visit this year is a little bit more haste than the first one. read more

This place gets five stars because of their customer service. I got a call that my glasses were ready and that I could pick them up at any time. It was a Friday and I get off work at 5:30pm. I rushed there to pick up my glasses by closing at 6pm. I was 15 minutes late and knocked on the door because I could see people inside closing up.
