Went here for eye glasses and found that they accept insurance but for high prescriptions they are like charging $231 whereas Costco was charging hardly $100 for 1.74 index. The staff is not customer friendly especially if you go with kids they make faces. I recommend going to Costco instead. Not many options as well in frames here. read more

FOCUS Vision & Eye Care - Optometrists Near Me - Hutto, Texas

Recently tried switching from my previous eye care physician to Focus Vision and eye care. First issue I ran into, is the refusal to dilate my eyes during what was meant to be my yearly eye exam. They only had me look at dot colored images, and use the ophthalmoscope to exam my eye. I mentioned how my previous doctor also used a device to scan images of my eye and would dilate them to exam their overall health. However, I was told because I was diabetic (Something my previous doctor knew about) I would need to come in for an additional visit. However I was not provided what the cost of this visit would be, and after speaking with my eye and health insurance they were unable to understand why this was. I mentioned my Diabetes is handled my an endocrinologist and I had no worries of it's effect my eye sight, they still would not change their information. After the eye exam I was taken to their glasses section to purchase new frames for my updated prescription. I was told at the time that my insurance covered all but a portion of the tint for outside wear AND that my insurance covered purchasing two pairs at the same coverage (all I would need to pay is for the tint). Three months later, I received an additional bill from Vision Care. I reached out to them and they advised because I purchased two frames I owed them an additional copay. I asked why this was? Why was I not told this at the time of purchase? and why my copay for the exam didn't cover this copay? I was information "Sometimes it happens", and "their sorry they missed it but still expect me to pay the additional charges". I asked if I needed to speak with VPS about this, and was informed no this is a charge from them. I was then passed off to a manager who informed me no this charge was from VPS. These two answers were given 2 minutes a part from one another. I asked if I could return the second pair, as I was not properly informed of all charges or what I would need to pay. Their response was no, and if it happened they would charge me more for the frames anyway. ---- TLDR; The overall lack of medical care provided during my eye exam, and billing unexplained charges months after my service makes this place extremely untrustworthy and personal I feel like they are a scam doctor seeking to maximize what they can squeeze out of patient. I would not recommend going here and looking for other options for eye care. read more

I am very impressed with the friendly yet professional attitude and atmosphere in the office. They have not seen us in a year but made us feel like we were there yesterday. They were able to get my family of 4 in on the same day and worked us through quickly. They weren't even remotely upset when our appointments wmet into closing time. I had such a pleasant experience here at Focus Vision, as a first time patient. The two front desk ladies were very friendly, and helpful answering all the questions I had for them. Dr. Thames was extremely friendly, and professional. She also answered every question I had for her, and wrote down information for me regarding allergy eye drops. She was very pleasant to talk to, and very caring. All 3 of the ladies here we very sweet to my daughter as well. Price of lens, and frames were very affordable compared to other places I had looked at. Office was clean, and welcoming. I was more than happy with the service at Focus. Dr Thames recommended that I spoke to an eye surgeon about cataract surgery which I did. After the surgery when I wanted to go back and get a prescription for the slight defect in the vision in one eye I had to get another eye exam. It seemed a lot if expense as I had only had an exam a few months earlier. After brining this to the attention of Dr. Thames and her partners this policy has now been changed. Went in to Focus for a check up on January 9, 2023. I had not had an eye exam in 2 years. But I had been using Focus Vision for about 5 years. During the exam I informed the doctor of floaters, light in the bottom of the eye that came and went and extreme blurriness in the left eye. She explained that it was "nerve endings." Then my prescription was updated for new glasses. My vision continued to bother me so on January 17, 2023 I went to Austin Retina. At Austin Retina they determined that I had a Detached Retina. This was not diagnosed by Focus Vision and Eye Care even after their testing and explaining my vision concerns. I had my first surgery to repair the Detached Retina on January 24, 2023. I had a second surgery in March 2023 due to continuing vision problems in the left eye. To finish it off I received my new glasses on January 16, 2023. So no I will not be returning to FOCUS Vision & Eye Care!!! read more

Love this place! We have finally found our eye-care home. We called on Saturday and they were happily able to squeeze us in. Dr. Lacy was kind and informative. They offer the new testing for eyes that can test without the dreaded "puff in the eye" test! Dr. Lacy did all the tests on my wife and I, letting us know how we did. I do not appreciate trying to buy contacts and you say repeatedly that you price match 1-800contacts when you won't honor the price match. I called today to order at first I spoke with the doctor who was polite, but didn't see the price I was referring to. The receptionist called me back and sarcastically told me "I would basically be paying you to wear them if I honored that price." Since when do claim to price match but then tell your customer no because you don't like the price? Are you kidding me? Great customer service is lacking when you don't want to buy a year supply. It was more than just a vision check! She carefully examined the health of the eyes, gladly answered any concerns I had, and was very good at explaining complex procedures or medical terminology to my level of understanding.
