I expected a routine contact lens exam -- the same basic exercise I have had before, including through this same business, at roughly a quarter of the price. So when the bill came back at $268, I had the distinct feeling of being mugged in broad daylight by a phoropter. If this exam was going to cost $268, that number should have been made clear before the appointment began. Not whispered through paperwork. Not hidden in a fog of billing codes. Not revealed at the end like the final twist in a bad carnival scam. It should have been stated plainly, directly, and unmistakably: "Before we begin, this contact lens exam will cost $268." Had I heard that sentence, I would have stood up, thanked everyone for their time, and walked directly out the door in search of a business operating somewhere closer to reality. This charge is outrageous. It is excessive, poorly disclosed, and completely unacceptable. No reasonable person would expect a routine contact lens exam to cost $268 unless that price was made brutally clear in advance. I am asking you to review this charge and provide a fair adjustment or refund. And I want to be very clear about what happens if this is brushed off. I will not slink away quietly and absorb this nonsense like a beaten insurance animal. I will share an accurate account of this experience everywhere people look before choosing an eye care provider -- Google, Yelp, Facebook, LinkedIn, neighborhood groups, local forums, and any other digital town square where people still value being warned before they are financially body-slammed over an eye exam. I went to an eye appt elsewhere in 2021 and they told me they couldn't do anything for me but I've noticed my night vision declined further since then so I made the appt. The staff are super friendly as is Dr Carroll. He is very informative and talked to me not only about my vision now but also how it will continue changing as I get older along with some advice around those subjects. He also was funny which was a bit unexpected but very much appreciated. I ended up buying glasses and am very happy with the way they took care of me. I'll definitely not be going anywhere else for my eye appts in the future.

I had been looking for a Black optometrist in the Round Rock/Austin area but with no luck I had given up. Advanced Eye Care was listed as an in-network provider with my insurance company. I went to their website to read about them. Much to my surprise and delight, there was a black female optometrist practicing in that office! Dr. Bridget Fuller, O.D. is amazing! We talked and laughed as if we had already known each. She took the time to answer all of my questions and even listened to part of my life story. I did not feel rushed. I appreciate her professionalism and sweet demeanor. I was looking for Black optometrist. I recommend Dr. Fuller for anyone of any ethnicity. She is the best! Upon walking into the building, I immediately felt welcomed by the front desk personnel. I was given a notepad to complete my new patient paperwork. A few minutes later, I was called back for initial examinations. I wish I could remember the exam tech's name. She was awesome! Even the check-out process was quick and easy with Danelle. They try to deceive you into thinking you're singing up paperwork for services. As an extra step to ensure the customer is ok with that extra test being paid for out of pocket or have it separate from the intake paperwork. They know exactly what they're doing. Front desk lady talking about Nikki has been with them for 15 years. Ok and? Nikki caused your office to lose 6 customers in one visit and will never recommend this place to any family or friends. No explanation was given. The doctor was nice and all. But I paid a $25 co-pay and paid $40 for the fundus photography. I called later and wanted to request the notes and photo and the front office lady that answered was extremely rude. She told me it would be like 5-7 day turn around and I explained to her that it was an urgent matter because the doctor saw something in the photo of her eyes and was looking up sickle cell and that I had a doctor's appointment the following day, so I needed the records. Even after I explained the urgency she said there were people in front of me also requesting records. Later that day she emailed me stating it would be $25 for the notes from that visit. I wasn't requesting complete records I just needed the notes from that visit so I could provide the doctor with the notes. I definitely will not be going back. This is highly unprofessional.

I went in last week for a routine eye exam. Their website said it would be 20 mins. After 20 mins of waiting they were ready to begin... After a first round of tests I needed to finish off by seeing the doctor for the final sign off etc. I waited another 15 mins and eventually had to leave because I had to get back to work. I was already 40-45 mins into a 20 minute appointment. I was told to come back for the second half the following week. Assured I would not need to do the same tests again but just do the second half. I turn up today and after 20 mins waiting (did their files not show that I had issues last week) I get pulled in....to do the exact same tests from the previous week. After this I was then asked to wait in the lobby. At 2.40 (my appt was 1.40) I still hadn't been seen (A full hour after my appointment time). I left. I explained why and was told 'Sorry about that'...no explanation as to why I had had to wait so long. I had been going there for glasses for years and they have previously been decent but sadly I'm done with waiting that length of time. People have lives and things to do. I don't set aside an entire afternoon for a routine eye exam. Extremely disappointed but I doubt I'll be back.
