This was my first time coming to Advanced Eye Care for an annual exam for both glasses and contact lenses. I had been looking for a Black optometrist in the Round Rock/Austin area but with no luck I had given up. Advanced Eye Care was listed as an in-network provider with my insurance company. I went to their website to read about them. Much to my surprise and delight, there was a black female optometrist practicing in that office! Dr. Bridget Fuller, O.D. is amazing! We talked and laughed as if we had already known each. She took the time to answer all of my questions and even listened to part of my life story. I did not feel rushed. I appreciate her professionalism and sweet demeanor. I was looking for Black optometrist. I recommend Dr. Fuller for anyone of any ethnicity. She is the best! Upon walking into the building, I immediately felt welcomed by the front desk personnel. I was given a notepad to complete my new patient paperwork. A few minutes later, I was called back for initial examinations. I wish I could remember the exam tech's name. She was awesome! Even the check-out process was quick and easy with Danelle. I've been a patient here for 15 years. For 12 of those years, I have had exceptional service. The technology in this office is second-to-none and the staff and doctor ARE fantastic. HOWEVER, they do not return phone calls. I've called 5 times in the last week to get an update on my contacts order from almost a month ago. That leads me to believe they either do not check their voicemails, or they didn't actually place my order. I have been a patient of Dr. Javier Zamora's for at least 8 years now. After going elsewhere and not being satisfied with the contact lense fit or "excuses" for eye pain I found Dr. Zamora when they were Brushy Creek something-or-another. He diagnosed dry eye and helped me select contacts that are better for this problem. He also recommended and inserted punctal occluders (tear duct plugs) which I've had for several years. No more eye pain, no more changing vision (waves) and no more wasting money buying tons of eye drops. He truly listens and is very thorough. I feel like you aren't just $ to him. Excellent care and professional! I just wish Bob Faktor was still there as now I go elsewhere to purchase eyeglasses because the other opticians aren't as good with recommendations and don't seem to remember you (so they aren't prepared for you) from visit to visit. Bob would already have an assortment of frames in mind (he grew to know my preferences) and know what sizes were available so I didn't spend hours looking for something that's me just to find out it's not in my size when the person looks it up now. My adult son has eye conditions that require specialized contacts. He is Autistic and at times can be a little difficult. He also struggles with fine motor skills so I was worried about his ability to manage contacts. However, due to Dr. Zamora's caring, compassionate and dedicated team of professionals our experience was amazing. I've never met a more friendly staff. We had the pleasure of working with Liz who was so kind, patient and encouraging my son was able to put in and remove his contacts himself. This review is for Dr Debra Ware of Advanced Eyecare & Surgery. Dr Ware has been my optometrist since mid 1999. She makes sure you understand every step of her exam, and calmly walks you through the "is it 1 or 2? 3 or 4?" questions (even when the patient reaches the point of saying nothing looks good ) Dr Ware understands when she needs to slow down, answer additional questions or concerns-and as a result successfully navigated me through LASIK surgery in 2000. My distance vision 17 years later is (still!) perfect-so Dr Ware is navigating my old eyes through reading glasses... My kids started visiting Dr Ware when they were 3 ( for a quick checkup because of family health concerns) and both have continued as patients throughout their teens and more. Dr Debra Ware received training in pediatric optometry and it shows. I've had the opportunity to see other optometrists in the Round Rock area since 1992: I'm thrilled that Dr Ware joined us in the late 1990's, and is with a great office in Advanced Eyecare & Surgery. read more

Made an appointment online, took the day off, put on a mask and headed in for my yearly. Was told that they had decided to drop my vision insurance provider, even though they were listed as accepted online. Their reply was that it just happened "this month" and they were working on updating the website. It's the 28th of this month. The 28th. It's astounding to me that in the information age, and with the drop in patients they must be seeing due to the pandemic, they haven't gotten around to this yet, and that they wouldn't inform long-time patients who used this insurance that it was being dropped. That's poor customer service and disregard for their customers' time and health. My family has had issues with this place before. Time to move on. :-( read more

No issues with doctors and nurses. My problem was when I come back to do my prescription for my glasses front staff had me sit at the lobby for an hour before someone come to ask if they could help me. A new trainee comes to apologize for the wait and took me to see if could help me. I advise her that I need a prescription on both pairs of glasses. She was doing her best to help me but need help from the other Young lady that been working at that location for 13 years but she wouldn't really help her because she was doing her own thing and I could see her face expression she would ever time she would ask for help. So almost 3 hours later and almost $700.00 and that's how much I had to pay out pocket. Pick up my glasses very satisfied with my glasses. I would give 5 stars but just the communication and the 3-hour wait was too much. read more

The waiting area is very peaceful and even though they have tv's in the area, the volume is at a low volume. I found out about this practice about 12 years ago when I was considering Lasik and they had 12 months free financing through Care Credit. Just what I was looking for. They have expanded their practice greatly throughout this time but it is the same wonderful folks in a bigger place with more services available. My son and I see Debbie Zamora OD and my husband sees Javier Zamora OD and we are very pleased with their services, their care and their facility. They have modern equipment and many different tests you may not get at another optometry office. They have machines where they don't have to have your eyes dilated for annuals! They have walked us through 3 surgeries for the family - two lasik and one cataract. Very patient and helpful! They are dedicated to their field and to their patients. I felt like AEC was interested much more in emptying my wallet then treating my eyes. I went in for a routine eye exam and left with a $125 bill (and that is with vision insurance that completely covers an eye exam)! They did up sell me a retinal scan (which I honestly didn't need) which they repeatably messed up due to the tech not knowing how to analyze it correctly. And I just checked my medical insurance and they are billing them three times (incorrectly - they should have only been billed once) for this retinal scan, and it also doesn't show on the claim what they charged me. I'll be going somewhere else next time. read more

We were looking for a pediatric Ophthalmologist for Kiddo after some eye pain complaint concerns. I found Dr. Lan Hoang through Dell Children's at the Round Rock location. Our first choice was scheduling out two to three weeks and we opted for an earlier appointment deciding on Dr. Hoang. The office was updated and spacious, not at all crowded at lunch time. We were greeted by a friendly and cheerful front desk person who handed me the prerequisite forms to be filled out. The wait was of reasonable time and we were ushered into the back by the assistant; a woman whose name escapes me, but she had a distinctive accent. She presented herself as nice but not overly patient with Kiddo. She did not allow the allotted time when dealing with a toddler and came off somewhat forceful and impatient. Dealing with toddler is like breaking a horse; slow and steady wins the race. This mama doesn't much appreciate a forceful hand where my child is concerned. After a short wait, Dr. Hoang entered the room cheerily but did not introduce herself or inquire about Kiddo's eye background. Instead, she jumped right to the examination without explaining to me the steps she was taking or procedure. It wasn't necessarily a bad experience. It just didn't set too well with me in hindsight. I appreciate a gentle hand when dealing with children especially at a medical facility that caters to children. Also, greetings and introductions are important. read more

If you have a lot of time and nothing to do, this place is a great eye doctor for you as you will be waiting a long time and possibly making multiple trips back bc they didn't diagnose your vision properly the first time. I'm here for the second time trying to just get my prescription I had when coming in but they decided I need it changed. The changed prescription gave me a headache and I couldn't see that well with it. I'm back now and it's a struggle to get the original prescription and I'm being told I have to pay $30 out of pocket for coming back in after 60 days of my original exam...which was the one that gave me a headache from not seeing correctly due to eye dr's diagnosis. They are waiving it but aren't happy to oblige. My wife has experienced the same issues and has had to return multiple times just to receive her original prescription. Needless to say, the family will not be returning here as we have been coming here for years for contacts and glasses. We don't have the time to waste at a dr appt that keeps misdiagnosis our vision multiple times. Frustrating to say the least. read more

Visited the place for my regular eye check. Firstly, the place is far away from crowd. Interior gave me homely feeling. Staff were very nice to me. There was through measurement and explanation along with it. I liked the doctor very much. He explained pretty much everything in best possible way. Of course, the doctor didn't gave me chance to ask question but I am OK with that because he explained every important thing in is way. I recommend others to visit this place. read more

I've been going to Advanced Eye Care for several years and it is wonderful. Dr. Ware is fantastic and she's very thorough. I've read people complaining that a standard eye appointment does take a lot of time- and that's true. But that is mostly because of the attention and care they give to each exam. I'd much rather have a longer appointment where I have confidence in the care and attention that I'm getting, rather than a "quantity" practice that you'd find at the mall that tries to get you in and out as fast as possible. Your eyes are important-- you can take the time to make sure they are healthy. The only drawback and reason I'm giving it 4 out of 5 stars is that the glasses and contacts are a bit pricey-- but pretty much in line with what you find at any other optical place. All in all, I love this place and will continue going there for many more years. read more

I ordered her glasses here for the first time, I usually get our glasses at Target but since she liked the frames here we decided to purchase here, 4 weeks later, like now, STILL NO GLASSES! Tried calling them but they don't seem to pick up the phone or calling back. Called 4x straight and finally someone got annoyed and picked up. They have the nerve to tell me that it was broken and that its still in a different state WTF? NEVER GET YOUR GLASSES HERE I WOULD TRUST WALMART WITH BETTER CUSTOMER SERVICE (PUN INTENDED). A doctor who would see the severity of our situation too many have sat back and just let her lose her vision without explanation to my understanding. Dr. Xaviar Zamora has taken great care of my dry eyes and I like him very much. The staff that works with him has also been exemplary. I wish I felt equally positive about the front office staff and its procedures. Waits can be as long as an hour while the staff says they have to "contact medicare", and checking out is also frustrating. If there are patients ahead of me working out payment plans for glasses or procedures, I have to wait to give them my co-pay for the simple office visit. It is so inefficient. When I need assistance in getting a prescription, there is only one person who does that and we play phone tag for days. read more

Today I brought my daughter into the optical shop because she broke her glasses. The representative that helped us was not only rude but argumentative. She was confrontational with me about how my daughter broke her glasses. I was really taken off guard by her attitude especially since my daughters glasses are under warranty. Why did it even matter how the glasses got broke? I was so off put by this that I will just go somewhere else and buy new glasses. Great doctors and nurses, but DO NOT BUT GLASSES FROM THESE GUYS!!! I have had glasses for twenty years, and my daughter had them for five years. We have used both regular lenses and anti-reflective lenses multiple times. So, we know how the anti-reflective (anti-glare) lenses should look like. I bought a glasses for my daughter from these guys. I paid 100 dollars more for the lenses to be anti-reflective. The glasses she got was very reflective and full of glares like a $20 cheap lenses. The optics person at Costco looked at it and also said that the lenses do not look like anti-reflective lenses. So, we went back to these guys, but they insisted that the lenses are anti-reflective. I don't think these guys are dishonest, but I can confidently say that the anti-reflective lens making skills that these guys have are the worst in the market. The basic lenses at Costco seem way better. The doctors and nurses are great here, but I will never buy glasses from these guys again. read more

Billing filed our insurance (2 months after the service) and had the insurance money sent to themselves. Due to a late payment by our insurance company, they also sent an interest payment. Our refund didn't include the interest, so my wife talked to their billing department who said it was their policy to keep the interest. They were paid "in full" the day of service. Why would they think they're entitled to the interest money? "Sorry, they said - that's our policy". Sorry, but we'll switching to a more honest eye care practice. read more

No problem with the doctors, but they up charge on contacts and glasses so I'll be finding a new vision place. Somehow with in a two year time frame my contacts for a one-year supply have more than doubled in price from what I have paid in the four years prior. When I questioned it the staff was extremely unhelpful and couldn't even pull up my billing records from the previous year because they upgraded their system and when I called and said I have copies in front of me from previous years that I'm willing to send them their reply was this is the price now. No explanation for the sudden price jump or willingness on their part to look further into the matter. read more

The staff here are very courteous, professional, and are experts at what they do. My daughter got her eyeglasses here and I got my prescription eyeglasses at this location. Although it took substantially longer than anticipated to receive her glasses, I won't bring down their rating more than one-star since it was out of their control. Great facility with latest technology. Staff are all real friendly, helpful and patient. I have been a patient of Dr. Debbie Zamora now for 10 years. My husband, myself and our 4 children are all seen here and we are always able to get appointments on the same day as each other making it very convenient. Because we all wear glasses, the staff assisting us while picking out frames is always able to show us the ones that are covered by our insurance therefore keeping our costs down. Glasses are always ready fairly quick, even when the frames have to be ordered. I like that I even get a detailed eye care report at checkout. This detailed report is the "Why I have to wear glasses" explanation and in terms that I understand along with the vocabulary the doctors use so I understand what they said. I also appreciate Advanced Eye Care giving me a copy of my prescription without judgement. Other places I have been have made me feel bad when I ask for my prescription. I like being able to order very cheap backup glasses for my children online and other places have given me grief about this, but never Advanced Eye Care.
