    Beef tartare served with crisps
    James L.

A nice spot which offers great value for your meal. So many places here start at $30+ for their mains but there they start at $20 which my pocketbook definitely appreciates. I got the beef tartare (~18$) and the gnocchi (31$) and to me the beef tartare was really the standout. You get a generous portion of meat and fortunately you can get refills of crisps at no extra charge! This being my first experience with tartare I didn't know what to expect but I was pleasantly surprised to say the least! The meat did not have any game-y taste or strong beef flavor. Really it just served as a nice vehicle for the sauce and egg. It was not that different from poke or sashimi in my opinion besides the obvious requirement of needing to chew more because of the different texture, but otherwise equally great. The gnocchi had a nice broiled top which punches with flavor and the mushrooms soaked up the sauce nicely. It was a very warm and cozy atmosphere here and gave the place an intimate feel.

Delightful restaurant! Overall: 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Truffle Pasta - 4.5/5 - I loved the flavours of the pasta and the egg was an awesome touch. Flavourful but not too strong or oily, was just right! Braised Beef - 4.5/5 - one of the softest beets I've ever eaten! It was so tasty and tender and both my friend and I really enjoyed it. Atmosphere - 5/5 loved the quaint look, the restaurant had so much character... wasn't just a typical restaurant. Service: 5/5 - everyone was friendly and helpful!

So my favorite thing here is definitely the cheeseburger. Formerly called the Foie gras burger, they no longer serve Foie gras anymore, they said it was torture to animals which I thought was interesting because they sort of named their restaurant after it . I originally came for this burger and expected it to have the foie gras on it, but this burger was actually incredibly delicious even without it! 5 star item for sure! My second favorite item was the escargot . It was served in shells as is the traditional way, and I loved the garlic butter and crunchy topping forgot what that was, but flavors and textures were definitely popping. Definitely a solid 4.5 star maybe even 5 star escargot. We also had the chicken liver mouse. We both liked it. This was my first time eating it where everything was sort of combined together like that. I've normally spread it on bread and added jelly etc to the bread one by one. But nonetheless it was pretty good. Definitely worth 4 stars! We got a side of the bechamel fries. This was super Earthy notes, but good. 3.5 or 4 star for sure. We enjoyed it, and may or may not try it again next time, but it was nothing to write home about. What also stood out about this place was the service. I didn't even have to complain about anything, they noticed that I didn't like the truffle pasta I ordered so they removed it and gave me a new dish! Great customer service!! I feel like the customer service definitely pushed them from 4 to 5 stars on my review.

I had the chance to try Foiegwa pancakes however they didn't meet my expectations. The customer dining next to me said, similarly, that his pancakes were under cooked. I love the ambiance and look of the restaurant but certain areas of the restaurant were dusty. Also, the walls were overdue for fresh paint. I believe improvement is needed to ensure a 5 star dining experience. The staff were pleasant and ensured exceptional customer service.

My wife and I had the privilege to dine at Foiegwa and now we cannot stop talking about how amazing it was! Need food was beyond spectacular! The service was top-notch! The ambience was the perfect blend of charming, cozy and hip. The food I gave off five stars while the vibe in the restaurant was more casual. This provided for a very relaxed experience experience while enjoying some of the most incredible French cuisine Montreal has to offer.

    Lobster eggs Benedict ($45)
    Carmen G.

Came here for brunch on a long weekend before the rush! Wait was about 20 minutes (which is great!). The food here is good - above average from your regular brunch spots. Got upsold by our waitress on getting a lobster eggs benedict. It sounded delicious and a must get - however it was our fault that we did not ask for the price of this and just ordered it. It was definitely on the pricey side for this lobster eggs benedict, coming out to being $45 for the dish which was a surprise (and not) for us when the bill came. But again - that's on us haha! Pancakes and home fries were also delicious.

    Salmon tartar
    A S.

My time in Montreal was winding down and I needed to try some signature Montreal dishes before leaving. I had the escargot and salmon tartar. After trying escargot for the second time in my life I have come to the conclusion that I'm not a fan. But if you like escargot or want to give it a try you can't go wrong with this place. The salmon tartar on the other hand was delicious. I could eat it every day. The layout is intimate so I suggest making a reservation. I sat at the bar and the bartender provided great service.

Chicken and waffles - so good!
    Dilys C.

Better than the average brunch place. - Chicken waffles was amazing, chicken was crispy and savoury that paired well with the soft fluffy waffles. - Smoked salmon eggs Benedict was average - Spaghetti was amazing, heavy for brunch but something you have to try! - we ordered the Pancakes to share, they were amazing! Heavy, but done so well. - friend ordered the cassolette with duck confit, said it was average, nothing special. Could skip and get something else instead. The place is on the cozy side, prepare for a wait if you come during peak hours. Definitely a spot to try in Montreal!

Tasty, crispy, rich. - Grilled octopus on pepper sauce with potatos $24. Really tender and flavourful. The sauce was bright and acidic - Sorrel soup $13.75. First time having sorrel. Quail itself wasn't as flavourful but the sauce was amazing and soaked into the rice - Creme brulee $15. Flavour was impeccable. I'm being more nitpicky here than usual, mostly to go back to these notes again in the future. I loved the meal and would definitely go back. Service is very friendly. Food came out super fast. BEST "BYOB" FRENCH BISTRO DURING RECENT TRIP…read more This is the best dining experience in our recent Montreal trip. I'm glad we made reservation since the place was quite packed when we arrived. To be honest, our first impression wasn't too great. We were seated in their main indoor dining area which was a bit too warm. We asked if we can be moved to their fully covered / heated patio area, but unfortunately the restaurant was full. Fast forward 15 minutes, we have placed our order and were enjoying our bottle of wine and a basket of bread. Our server came over and offered to move us to the patio area since a table had opened up. We were pleasantly surprised because (1) we didn't ask again and (2) most restaurants wouldn't change tables once customers started eating/drinking. The restaurant setting is unpretentious with a casual and cozy vibes. The staff are so friendly that we feel like having a family dinner! They offer a pre-fixe menu in which we thoroughly enjoyed! For appetizers, the escargot dish gave us a pleasant surprise. They wrapped the escargots and blue cheese sauce in a thin crispy crust! It's hard to describe, but it's sort of like having an escargot "crepe"! The few main courses we chose were excellent, and the rack of lamb was probably our favorite - tender, juicy, and perfectly cooked. As for dessert, their creme brulee was one of the best I've had - creamy custard topped with a perfect, crisp caramel top. I'd highly recommend this place, and will certainly visit again when I'm in town next time!
