But it's okay, I found another one soon after that whole ordeal. Joe, the lead clerk, is funny as heck and will give it to you straight. He has offered up some valuable resources to me, a nerd who at first admittedly had no idea what he was doing. Andrew is the man, super friendly and definitely has management material written all over him if he's not at that level yet. There are a few other clerks whose names escape me, but this team is solid. Did I mention the mail carriers? The ones who deliver to my apartment gave me their numbers so I can call them if I ever have any issues with the nerdy crap being delivered to me. I'm sure the eBay sellers I purchase from appreciate that... To my tall friend, and I'll get your name again next time - save me a sealed ETB if you ever find 2 of something cool!!!!! Not enough good things to say about this place. Selling on eBay has shown me the other side of customer interactions... it is frustrating when a customer is accusatory when you have your bases covered, but I guess that's human nature? Idk.... I judge the level of customer service by how I feel about my interaction with the postal service employees. Unfortunately, this particular location is hampered from being high-performing by at least one employee (caucasian woman) that I interacted with this morning at the front. Her advice regarding how to ship my item was satisfactory (reason for getting 2 stars). However, her general tone felt negative and cynical. I became confused on the timing of the payment for my shipping material, and then she became condescending publicly, which of course made me feel humiliated (even for the brief moment that it occurred). I imagine the local USPS leadership that will read this review will know exactly who I am talking about based on my description of the employee and the interaction (apologies for not getting a name). They will have to weigh the importance of customer service relative to technical skill as it relates to the successful operation of a USPS location. Given that she is likely technically sound, will you just "look away" from the negative behavior?

This Review is more about Amazon than the UPS Store…read more If they had a zero, I would be given that rating. I purchased an item for our washer from Amazon. The item came in. I install it on my washer. It worked good for two cycles, then stopped working, to verify this issue. I put the old part back on. It started working, but still with the issue. About supplying hot water we then file a return claim were told to go to Rent-A-Center to return the item. I go to rent -a-center and was told they were out of supplies with Amazon so then I have to go to Gulf Shores the only UPS store in the area. I tried to return it there and was told I need a new QR code for them to accept it. I called the wife. she tried to get a new QR code. She tried ended up having to call customer service with Amazon. Once that was done, I was halfway home. She called me and told me that she now had the proper QR code to ship it through the UPS store. I went back and processed the return after 30 miles watching other people say they'll never deal with Amazon again cause they had the same issue.

However, the store recently closed unexpectedly, leaving quite literally tens of thousands of Foley and surrounding areas with no store locally. Foley is the fastest growing city in Alabama and one of the fastest in the nation. To be left "high and dry", facing a 10 to 15 mile drive to a UPS store is disappointing and concerning. Gulf Shores has managed to get slammed by a bunch of hurricanes in the last couple of years (Ivan, Katrina, Sally) but on my visit, I didn't notice any particular damage. The beach is lovely and the people are friendly. Expect to see lots of businesses catering to the beach and the tourists. Mini golf, ice cream, glossy-menu seafood restaurants and such. But if you get off the beaten track, you'll find proper locals who are happy to see you. And don't miss out on meeting up with Barrett O. He's "Mister Yelp Gulf Shores" for sure! Some days the employees are friendly and helpful, but more often than not, I feel like I'm walking on eggshells. Today was by far the worst experience I've had. I walked in with returns while an employee--either Kirsten or Kristen--was vacuuming. From the moment she approached me, her attitude was hostile. No greeting, no professionalism--just a sharp "How can I help you?" in the most irritated tone, as if helping a customer was a burden. I'm sorry, but if stopping vacuuming to help a customer is such an inconvenience, maybe this isn't the right job. This kind of treatment is completely unacceptable in any customer-facing role. If I had another option in town, I would take it in a heartbeat. This location seriously needs to work on customer service training. The attitude from this employee was rude, uncalled for, and honestly embarrassing for a national brand like UPS. Do better
