Do not go here. I bought plants all over flower district and the two plants I got here came with mealybug infestations. It was undoubtedly from them. I had quarantined the plants and they were never watered while with me. It happened 2 weeks after I purchased them. I followed up twice email and called them and was ignored each time. Staff tried blaming me it was my fault however I later discovered the plant was infested with mealybugs in the soil, after lifting the moss covering. I bought a Fabian aralia there a couple of weeks ago. The price was a bit pricey but I had been looking for one for awhile. I asked if he would replant it in a pot I brought along. He was very nice said no problem. He brings the plant out I paid and left. After I got home I realized he didn't repot it he just stuck it in the pot I brought and covered the top with bark. Horrible customer service! Picked out a beautiful 8 foot fig tree and received one that was beat up with brown/dying leaves upon delivery. It definitely was not the one we picked out in the store. Not make matters worse it was BUG INFESTED. WIthing 48 hours we had little bugs crawling everywhere! I spoke with the store many times over a few weeks and was told that a manager would return my call which NEVER happened. They were supposed to replace the tree and refused to get back to me. Excellent service and clean location. The plants seemed well taken care of. The nice young lady had patience and went to the basement to get the planters and saucers. We purchased an aloe Vera and she repotted and put some nice wooden pieces at the bottom and on top. We were delighted with the Aloe Vera and terra-cotta pots. She also gave us instructions as to how often to water it. We will make this a to go place when we would like to add some green at home and at the business. read more

I like this place. I have been going here since I stumpled upon the flower district probably 6 or 7 years ago. After walking around to many of the different store fronts, this one seemed to have the most diverse and interesting looking Orchid offerings. I don't know much about orchids except that most people say they are hard to keep alive, not in my experience. I water them once every 7-10 days and rotate the pot every now and again so that they grow straight up. Otherwise, they are beautiful easy to maintain plants that add some life to my apartment. One of mine is 5 or 6 years old and continues to bud nicely. The other one I recently purchased (about 1.5 -2 months ago) still has flowers on it. I have also picked up some for friends and family over the years (all still alive and doing well). The thing I love about this place, is that they have really different looking orchids, rather than the run-of-the-mill grocery store or home depot varieties. The most recent one I got looks a little like a Lion Fish, in terms of coloring and petal shape. Best of all is the pricing. Small ones are around $10-$15 and the larger ones are $20-$35 depending on size. After living on the UES and seeing what some of those "boutique" shops uptown charge, this place is really nicely priced, and its kind of cool finding a spot in a grittier part of town that has an awesome selection at a good value. read more

I came to Paradise Plants to look for tall, nice tulips for our church's Easter service where over 400+ people came. Jesse was so helpful in helping me pick nice tulips and even customized the pot-fitting, the way I asked him to! The tulips were beautiful and fresh. A lot of people gave compliments on the tulips and how fresh/beautiful they were! Even people on the streets stopped and asked where I got the tulips from. The tulips lived about 1 week, which is how long Jesse said they would last for. I highly recommend this place! The prices are reasonable and the selections are good. read more

TERRIBLE Customer Service!!! Awful. I have been getting orchids from Paradise Plants (Foliage Paradise) for over 2 years. I have been very loyal to the company. They delivered 4 orchids to me 2 weeks ago one of which was over watered by Paradise Plants. The orchid has since died and I called requesting a replacement (providing pictures via email). I get a phone call back within minutes with a "nice" (not) woman telling me I need to provide the original receipt (which I no longer have). I offered getting something from AMEX which shows I made the purchase (only thing I could think of providing). She kept speaking over me even as I tried to explain to her I don't keep the receipts but the gentleman that I order these orchids from knows me and knows our address. Long story short is-this company doesn't care about your loyalty. Will sell you a bad plant or orchid and don't even think about getting a replacement. It's not happening. The reviews by other customers are completely accurate. TERRIBLE AWFUL RUDE!!! Good job Paradise Plant to living up to your reputation. 5 Stars for that one. read more

I don't even know where to begin only that I should have read these reviews before purchasing. The owner is so rude and insulting that should be enough not to go there. BUT they don't stand by their product... I spent over 2,000 in a year and just changed my flowers for the season, one set died after 1 week and I was promised replacements only to be given the run around for 2 weeks, telling me the plants are coming the next day then when they didn't come another guy says he doesn't know what I am talking about and that they don't replace anything. We bought a beautiful orchid from Paradise a few months ago, only to have it die within a day or two. Frustrated, we brought it back to the store, where the owner (?) brusquely blamed us, claiming we had put the plant too close to a window where it would be too cold. Now, this was in September, so it wasn't cold outside at all -- and we'd been told nothing about the orchid's sensitivity to temperature when we bought it. Still, after a bit of arguing back and forth, the owner did let us exchange the plant and we bought a sansevieria (snake plant) and succulent garden that are still going strong. I'd be willing to bet that particular orchid was already sick before we brought it home, and the transportation shock was more than it could handle. We've been back several times since for other small succulents and such, and haven't had a problem with anything else. From a customer service perspective, the older middle-eastern man isn't the kindest, but some of the younger staff (one younger woman in particular) are very knowledgeable and happy to help. TL; DR: Don't come here expecting great customer service; come here for quality plants at a reasonable price. read more

Their prices, I have found, are also more competitive than other stores. I do wish they provided better in-store service. I wish I would have read reviews before spending over $900 for plants with Paradise Plants my experience with them was overall terrible. I think Paradise Plants is an example that you get what you pay for, they may be less expensive than other vendors, however their plants are inferior and customer service horrible. 1. Delivery - they told me that they would help me get the plants situated in my apartment. They delivery men did not help me and were uninformed of what the sales person promised. 2. Products - they sold me two sick plants. They were infested with bugs. They would not return my calls, let alone even come and help me figure out how to treat the plants. 3. Customer Service - they are extremely dishonest. I called and left my contact information over 5 times after being told someone would reach out to me to schedule a visit to help me with my plants. I purchased several plants from here. At first I was very happy. I noticed that my very HEAVY and sharp agave needed to be replanted. I called twice, first to ask what to do, the guy told me that they would be able to help me but to call after the new year because the were busy. I called again as directed, and again, I was told that they could but to wait until it was warmer. I happened to pass by the shop and went in to get more details about replanting. The guy told me that I didn't know what I was talking about that he always answers the phone and he wouldn't say that. DO NOT BUY FROM THIS SHOP. Owner is nasty and doesn't stand behind any of his staff or products. Purchased a gardenia plant and was instructed from delivery person how to water it and when it died 3 weeks later owner was hesitant at best to do anything about it. After only a 25% discount to repurchase I agreed because i wanted a living plant, i reminded him he needed to replant it, to bring soil and he said he didn't do that. he backed off and tried to get an additional re-ptlanting fee. He planted it the last time, even brought extra soil to me. When i told him that he said i should have mentioned that prior. He then told me I was in Err for not calling the store to find out how to water the plant when his driver/ installer of 15 years doesn't know what to tell customers. He hung up on me and told me he wasn't fulfilling my order I had to pay for . I didn't know how to treat people - he didn't want to sell me a new tree. The NERVE of this shop owner. I work in the gardening industry, & would have to whole-heartedly disagree with the previous reviewer. Paradise Plants sells some lovely, lovely plants--lots of variety & reasonable prices. When they deliver, they bring the proper number of people for the job, & even the proper materials to transport the plant & protect the floor of the home or business they're delivering to. Nice folks, nice plants. (Also, just as a reply to the previous reviewer, NEVER believe the advice of someone at Home Depot! They are COMPLETELY CLUELESS, particularly about how to care for plants! When I first started working with Paradise, they were great. There are or were key people there who have it together. After working with them over some time as my orders increased, the customer service decreased massively. Even the owner acted like he could care less about the customer service when I spoke with him over the phone. Buyer beware. If you must order from them, speak only with Kathy. Otherwise if you are a design professional and can't work with mediocrity or have clients that do not tolerate mediocrity, this is NOT the place for you. Helpful, friendly staff, reasonable prices, same day shipping, etc. would have gotten 4 or 5 stars if this was end of story. However, they say they offer a guaranty that the plant wont die in the first couple years and replace if it does. Plant was fine for first couple months but then it never came back with spring. I called about a dozen times and each time was told "we're really busy today, call back tomorrow". After about 3 months of this, i finally forced them to give me a time for them to come (with threat of yelp review) and they finally agreed. I waited around during the 4 hour window they gave me and they never showed. I called back and they again told me they were too busy to come!!!! Then why did you tell me you were coming?!?! Anyway, in summary, good prices but dont expect any customer service or for them to honor their guaranty after purchase. read more

Among so many other incidents and several times when they got my delivery wrong or forgot it, this one stands out: a delivery guy arrived at my door and then came up without one of the plants, claiming that a homeless man had just stolen it out of his delivery truck when we arrived. I mean, I can't prove it's not true. but given the many other times this place has forgotten one or several items I ordered, it seems more likely they simply forgot it. I also think they sometimes, inadvertently or not, sell plants that are diseased--I've had two plants from this place contract a disease with white fungus on the plants. I had a horrible experience in this place and I will never ever go back to this place. I had bought a beautiful ficus tree for $300 + $25 delivery fee. I found it a bit expensive but really liked the tree since it was to be the central piece of my living room decoration. Before buying I specifically asked the salesman if it was going to lose the leaves since it was the beginning of winter. He said it would lose some, because of the move, but not all. Well, one month later, I have a almost bare tree with only branches, even following the watering instructions and buying a humidifier to place beside it. I went back there asking for GUIDANCE and was poorly treated. The owner growled at me that it was "normal". I asked him if the tree was going to die, he grunted: "no" and I finally asked him when should I expect it to be normal again, and he snarled: "6 months" before pushing me out of his way to talk to an employee in his own language. I went there for advice, and never complained (although I had all the right to) and was treated like garbage. Don't go to this place and beware that he owns other stores in the area. I was actually there to also look for other plants, but I don't think this gentleman cares about returning customers or any customers at all. read more
