We were in town for a family function and had to stop by one of our favorite breweries. Just go around we had the pleasure of meeting Jacob, the master Brewer. Super friendly as is the entire family and we loved hearing what new ideas were on the horizon. Not only that we had shared an experience we had with taking a growler home years ago, and he immediately took action to try to recover the situation, even though it happened years ago! True customer service and hospitality. We enjoyed bourbon aged stout and the millie Kalikimaka. Both darker beers with good flavor. My husband ended up switching to the copper tail, which was their German alt bier. He really enjoyed that and had several glasses of it. I switched over to a delicious hard seltzer, the Midori sour and it was divine. I'm still kicking myself that I didn't grab some to bring home. If you love honeydew melon this is the perfect beverage for you! We also finally tried their in-house distilled bourbon whiskey. We really enjoyed it. It definitely does not give you that Kentucky hug you normally feel when you drink bourbon. read more

We dined here while staying in their Harvest Hist site. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The food was awesome and all of beer/mead we tried was very good as well. Feels a bit like Deliverance as you come down the road to find this place. Smack dab in the middle of tornado catchers (mobile homes/trailers) and not where you would expect a brewery/meadery to be. The ambiance is great. It feels a lot like the food they serve: Cajun. Service is typical of a brewery - counter casual. There is ample outdoor seating as well. Mead is very good. Beer is about average. Boudin balls for the win. Some of the best I have had outside of Lousiana (not surprising, the cook is from Louisiana). We found this great brewery on Yelp so we started driving, got a bit worried as we drove through neighborhoods in the dark. We finally roll up on it. We walk in to find a great keg tree and tables and counters to order at. You order drinks from the counter after you sample to see if you like them. We ordered Christmas in Hawaii($6.67) and Nite Nailen($6.67)and six pack cans($10.00). At the other end of the counter you order food. We ordered cheeseburger($7.95) and Bourbon Street Burger($9.40) and hush puppy basket($6.30) We really enjoyed the beer and the hamburgers were also great. So happy they were not smash burgers. The hush puppies were pretty good, they had a little heat which we liked. We took our chips with us. This is a fun brewery tucked away where you will not just stumble upon it but so glad we found it. It was a nice complete experience at the end of the tour. Started with beer tasting. My first choice was hefe-weizen - wheat beer- I liked a lot and continued with the same. What a fun & friendly place! We visited Folklore on a random Monday night a few weeks ago (mid-March), so this review is just for the libations & service. I did the "mead sampler," and thought all four samples were good, but I think the raspberry was the best. I've been to several "Meaderies" on the West Coast, and I think Folklore's offerings are much, much better. I wish our visit included live music or on-site food offerings, but realize we showed up on a Monday night in somewhat cold weather. Can't wait to go back! read more

My family and I were driving down to 30A for Labor Day weekend and decided to stop by at Folklore for dinner on our way down. It was more than a little off the main road so we were a little worried at first, but like other reviews say, you'll drive past some homes, backyards, and auto junkyards before reaching the brewery so don't be spooked! When we got to the brewery, we were pleasantly surprised by how cozy and lively Folklore was! There's plenty of parking in their lots and both indoor and outdoor seating. We were there on a Thursday, but they have live music on Fridays and Saturdays. The staff was super nice and gave us tasters of their spirits, beer, and mead as we were deciding our drink orders. My dad and I got a couple beers and a flight, while my mom found a mead she really liked! We also got dinner at the little Cajun place inside. My dad got a burger while my mom and I got buffalo shrimp po boys. The po boys were SO GOOD. I loved the heat from the buffalo sauce. The burger was also delicious. I also loved the variety in beers (especially the Summer Shandy). We also ended up getting a bottle of bourbon we liked here as well! Great little spot in Dothan, definitely check it out!! read more

AMAZING PLACE to have some really good beer and excellent food!! The atmosphere is perfect! We got the flight and had the lady pick our choices. She did a great job. All of them were great but ShadowCaster was my favorite. My husband ordered the Grouper platter and I got the Bourbon Street Burger. THE FRIES! OMG! Best fries I've had anywhere. Huge Cajun food menu. Almost hard to choose what to get. They have so many different flavor beers on tap, so something for everyone. They also have a live band on the weekend I think but we were just passing through on a Thursday night. So glad we came here. Highly recommend. Very family friendly and even have a playground for kids. Our special needs daughter is in a wheelchair and we had no problem getting her in and around the area. We are staying here for the night in our motorhome as Folklore Brewing is a Harvest Host. The property is very spacious for our 40' motorhome and jeep in tow. Staff is very friendly! We had dinner and drinks and are very pleased with our visit! We had shrimp and chicken po' boys. Yum! Sandwiches were hot and had plenty of shrimp/chicken. We couldn't finish them. Kevin had the amber red ale and I sampled the sparkling cyser. Tasted like hard apple cider but not as sweet. Very good! They have live music Friday and Saturday nights so that's fun! Seems like they do a lot-Tomorrow they're hosting a craft show In their parking lot, Santa is coming and they have live music that night too! The food is fairly good, and the beer selection is pretty extensive. The service is as good as any bar given the nature of the clientele. Meaning it can be fast or slow depending on who is ahead of you in line. I'm never in a hurry when I go, but I've not been unduly delayed getting my order. I love all the local talent and live performances on Friday nights. There's sort of a folksy/hippie vibe in this tucked away jewel. Folklore is a brewery and meadery in Dothan, Alabama that I have been trying to get to for a bit of time. Business found me in the area this early evening, so to quote Rod Stewart, "tonight's the night" and I headed that way. Following my GPS, I was directed to make a left and I thought that perhaps I turned up the wrong street as it appeared that I was heading into a trailer park, but, no, just ahead, lo and behold, was Folklore. My bartender, Rachel, was friendly and helped me navigate the menu and sample a few of their beers before I optedfor their Shadowcaster Porter. This poryerwas very good and I am enjoying it as I write this. I believe a second beer might be in order and it will be either their red ale or their hefeweizen. I shall return here, good beer is something we should treasure and having a good beer with a good friend even more do. read more

You'll think you are lost and then there you are! I live in Dothan and haven't been to Folklore in several years, so I hadn't seen all of the new additions. We decided to go to try the cousins Maine lobster food truck. The atmosphere is so fun, games, music, great food and most importantly good beer. Love the lighter beers- 231 Blonde and mid lite crisis, but also enjoy the Cotton Tale, Grateful Red and Wiregrass Wheat. If you're looking for an adventure, this is the place to go. read more

You'll end up in a residential area and next thing you know, your gps takes you to a "front yard" with awesome signs, perfect lighting, and the most relax ambiance for drinking and having a good time. I recommend mead, so delicious and made delicious! It's fermented honey and it's sweet. Their craft beers are pretty awesome! Also, whats really neat is they have a "Pay to forward" program. Pretty much, if you're a service member with ID, you get a "free" beer. I emphasize free, because it isn't really free. Someone else paid $5 towards it. This is one of Dothan's hidden gems! The mead is awesome and so is their beer! I didn't expect to see Cajun food on the menu the first time we went. It was actually really good! The outdoor seating is really peaceful. If you want to play cornhole, they have boards set up. It was a good place to take family and just hang out for the afternoon. You will think your GPS is taking you for a ride when you are navigating here so be warned! Just follow it to the address and you'll see signs. There is a good menu variety, I ordered the cheese burger which came out in a few minutes. It didn't taste that good, in fact I've had way better. The ladies that serve you seem sweet but I only talked to them for a slight second. My Aunt ordered us some doughnuts but they were completely uncooked and tasted gross. The lemonade tastes like watered down Diet Pepsi, they have free popcorn, but there was barely any left and it was cold. They had free lollipops for children but they were melted, the fries were over seasoned, and they don't have regular coke, just Diet Coke. Overall the only good experience I had here was talking to my family and drinking water. 2 stars. :) read more

We were passing through in our RV on our way to Red Bay and stopped here for a beer. What a delightful, unexpected experience. The property owners, Uncle Kenny and his wife, met us in the parking lot on their golf cart. We had great conversation with them and the beer was great! We sampled a couple of beers and settled on the IPA and the JP-8. AMAZING! Then I got a Pecan Brown and hubby got the Blood Orange Blonde. Again, AMAZING! Quality beer, awesome service, and great atmosphere. This is exactly what a craft brewery should be but all too often isn't (from a CA resident who visits a lot of breweries). In a market loaded with underwhelming hazy IPA's it's refreshing to visit a brewery that has a core lineup that stands on its own. Six beers were sampled and every one was technically solid. Pils- light, refreshing, and appropriately hopped for the style. Wheat- a little lighter in color than most but great flavor with a touch of expected wheat tartness. Witbier- earthy, spicy crushable Belgian character that pleasantly sets it apart from the other light offerings. Red- so perfectly balanced. Toasty and sweet but not sticky or heavy with a nice complement of classic hop aroma and medium bitterness. Porter- delightful roastiness that transitions from chocolate to espresso. My favorite of the lineup. IPA- yes! West coast IPA all the way. Piney resin with a tiny bit of citrus and ripe stone fruit. Craft breweries, take note. Folklore is the model that should be emulated. read more

Well it's the only brewery in the area and the pics of their Amber ale got me excited so we drove out to this place. It was a little farther than anticipated, but the desire for the Amber ale was more so we pushed on. We continued to follow the GPS despite what looked like a residential area, but as we rounded the corner we saw the christmas lights hung up lighting the way and figured that has to be it. As we drive up we note its a dirt parking lot lighted with Christmas lights. Also note there is a mini- bonfire going on. Some people are are sitting outside having a good time. It was a little intimidating at first because it appeared we were going into a barn, but the taste of the Amber ale kept driving us and we enter. We enter and am totally amazed!!! It has large tables for large groups. It's a pretty big area. Has bathrooms. And then of course the bar with their liquid magic! They had some food, I didn't get any, but it was hot dogs with a lot of fixings and from I remember them telling me it was based on donation only; no set price. He said he put in $3 and was really happy with his food. Anyways to the beer...they had 10 beers on tap and 2x Rattlers (beer mixed other stuff..I can't remember what's the one was but the other was beer and lemonade...pretty good..a little sweet). Anyways I got their flight of all and went to town. They had a mixture of ales, porters, IPA, and pale ales. A little for everyone. Of the 10...I don't like 4 of them. Just because they were IPA...I am not much of a IPA guy. It was still good. Their Amber ale was delicious. They also had a cherry wheat was a great balance. Folklore Brewing is the best place to go in Dothan, AL! As you drive up, you feel like you're either lost or about to be murdered until you see the cool outdoor lights of the brewery. The beers are all pretty good and there are great outdoor games to play while you hang. They also sell some good bar food outside on the patio. It's a bit of a drive from Enterprise or Dothan to get here, but you will not regret it. Come to Folklore for good beer and a good time! read more
