The River Nile Cafe will NOT disappoint. I'd recommend this establishment to any friend of mine. As soon as you walk into TRNC you immediately are greeted by several cheerful employees, shout out Miss. Jaden for her service. Not to mention the aroma of fresh herbs! As soon as you walk in you can tell everything is FRESH. The menu has something for everyone and anyone. I'll add, if I lived in town and wasn't just visiting. I'd stop here everyday for a coffee and pastry. I'll add those menus as well. Food, that I tried. ---------------- Appetizers(Sorry those pictures stood no chance.) ---------------------------------------------- The Bread Basket: The Rosemary Bread with Olive Oil and Herbs was fresh and an awesome starter. The quality is like non other. (10/10) Spinach & Artichoke Dip: A very creamy dish, served with pita bread. Which was a nice take on the traditional dip! (8/10) ---------------------------------------------- Entrees ---------------------------------------------- West of Eden: The bread was fresh made rosemary bread, cut into thick slices. The chicken was moist. (This is my girlfriend's review of the dish.) (8/10) The Gouda Burger: For starters I knew this burger was special when I saw the description in the menu... Boy, was it. The sirloin was juicy, and tasted perfect with the chipotle dressing. Which the sweet mixed with spicy chipotle was a perfect balance. (10/10) ---------------------------------------------- **Honorable Mentions** Alexander the Great, the Greek Salad. Soup of the Day, Creamy Tomato. Thank you Nile River Cafe!

Food, service and ambiance were all great. Not pictured but I also got a raspberry lemonade which tasted fantastic. I got the West of Eden sandwich with sweet potatoes as my side. They weren't kidding about their sun-dried bread!

For lunch, I ordered The Gouda Burger and the Soup of the Day which was phenomenal.

I really can't think of anything bad to say! I'm a very picky yelp-eliter BUT I truly cannot say anything bad about this place. They're in a plaza area, so parking is easy! Once we walked in, greeted right away and it smelled so good and looked so clean! Our server was top notch. I wish I remembered his name but wow, he was the sweetest, so friendly, knew everything of the menu, the drinks and all! He answered all our questions for us and recommended some great foods! I ordered the Gouda Burger, which he recommended and said they were known for and it did NOT DISAPPOINT! It comes with sides and I went with fruit to balance out my burger :) Then I ordered a cup of the soup of the day, I wish I remembered the name of it but it was DELICIOUS. For appetizers, we ordered the sun dried tomatoe bread with the rosemary butter oil on the side to dip it in (not pictured cause I was honestly so hungry!) and it was so good. My girlfriends ordered their pink mocha's and they LOVED it! They have a cool coffee menu. I LOVE THE PORTION AS WELL. Not too big not too small. Just right. Would come here again... probably very soon!

Chicken Salad Sandwich Sweet Potato Fries and the best little dipping sauce ever!

I had heard about this place online and we happened to be near it today so we stopped in. Boy am I glad we did! This place was amazing! I had the chicken salad sandwich and sweet potato fries. Delish. My husband had the burger and steak fries. I am not a fan of steak fries but his weren't the best I've ever had. Thin and crispy. Cooked to perfection. He had onion rings on his burger and he shared those to and they might have been the best onion rings I've ever had. I wish we had saved room for dessert because it looked so good. We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!

The food was Great ! Love the Ambience of this family oriented restaurant in the windmill station. We arrived for lunch and had some very welcoming ladies greeting us and instructing us to take a seat where we would like. Our waitress Jaden I hope I spelled her name right Was very attentive to us as customers. We started our experience with a bread basket with dipping oil. The bread is made in house ! I followed the bread with Spinach and artichoke dip. I had a unsweetened iced tea and my companion had a lavender iced tea I would totally recommend (Keep in mind for a refill of lavender iced tea it is 50¢) but it's worth I had a Tomato cream soup cup ( The soup of the day ) With a West of Eden sandwich a perfect accompany to each other ! The Gouda Burger was served to my Companion a tower of wonderful ingredients presented to make you take a bite and enjoy for sure! We took an Alexander the Great salad home definitely going to enjoy it aswell! Can't wait to visit The River Nile again !!

Chicken Salad Sandwich (beats Chicken Salad Chick) to pieces! Side Sweet Potato Fries and tomato bisque. Highly recommend this restaurant

Fantastic food and great service. Very high-end sandwich shop. Wandered into this restaurant following Yelp and I wasn't disappointed. Highly recommend eating here.

Passed through Dothan for a sweet treat on our way to Knoxville. Ordered famous beignets, chocolate brownie, buttercream cake and a chocolate chip cookie. Y'all, the beignets were phenomenal!! Melt in your mouth and beg for mercy good! All the treats were awesome and our server and the owner were absolutely precious and so kind. Do not miss this gem!!

Just a nice little side salad

Holy moly! Where has this place been?!? Fancy coffee, DELICIOUS SOUP AND BREAD. I realized that the reason I kept missing this place is because I'm always running errands in Dothan after they close. We had already attacked the food when it came so my pictures kinda stink...apologies. Next time, I'm ordering way less...so I have room for dessert!

Great homemade food! It was a-bit out of our way, but we were glad we found it! The tomato soup was award winning and for a good reason.

This is truly the best diner I have ever eaten at! We've done road trips all over the country and…read moreeaten at so many diners. I am here to tell you, no other diner will compare to Metro Diner! We decided to eat here because their rating was pretty high considering there were 13,300 reviews. That many people can't be wrong! When we walked in, the aromas coming from the kitchen were mouthwatering. Off to a good start! We were seated promptly. The diner is updated nicely. Booth seating seems newer. Clean restaurant and full of customers at lunch time. We were checking out the Specials board when our waitress Monica approached our table. This woman LOVES her job! She was so happy and enthusiastic. When we mentioned that we had moved to town a week ago and this was the first diner we've tried in town, she proceeded to welcome us to town and thanked us for choosing Metro diner. She let us know a few times that we won't be disappointed because the food is really good. (She was right!) She also informed me that Metro Diner was featured on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives, too. She then proceeded to tell us about the daily specials, taking time to rave about the blueberry infused pancakes with a lemon drizzle and blueberry butter (rightfully so), their chicken Benedict, and a few other house specials that they are known for. Our drinks were brought to the table quickly and she was ready to take our order. They serve breakfast all day so we indulged ourselves. I ordered the Bissell breakfast which is 2 eggs any style (over easy for me), toast, a protein (bacon for me), hash browns or grits (hash browns), and a short stack of 2 pancakes. I upgraded to the lemon blueberry pancakes. I am really glad I did! When I have a breakfast like this, I typically start with the hash browns, followed by the eggs, toast & bacon and ending with the pancakes. I am a creature of habit and this is how I ALWAYS do it. Not today! All of the food came out together. After reading the description of the pancakes and then seeing them up close and personal, I didn't hesitate to dig right in. That blueberry butter looked as good as it tasted so I'm glad I asked for some extra before I start d eating. There are no words to describe just how absolutely delicious the pancakes were! All of the flavors coming together - the blueberry-infused pancakes, the melting blueberry butter mixing in with that delectable lemon glaze - made mashed tastebuds sing. I have never tasted anything so good. You might expect something that delicious beyond the pearly gates of Heaven but not in a diner in Dothan, Alabama! Seriously, they were that good! My husband commented that it was like having dessert. I typically do not care for sweets like that, especially for breakfast and on an empty stomach. (Yes it was lunchtime and no I hadn't eaten yet. lol) I ate through half of the 2 pancakes before I realized my hash browns were probably getting cold. I love potatoes almost as much as I love my husband so to be that distracted by some pancakes should tell you something. They serve shredded hash browns, which is my favorite way to have them. They were the perfect amount of crispy and it was a thick layer of hash browns. I like to top mine with some ketchup. They were delicious! Next up was the over easy eggs - perfectly cooked just like everything else. The whites were done completely and the yolks were insanely runny, a good thing in my opinion. The bacon was good quality and thick. It tasted the way bacon is supposed to taste. I was given 3 long strips. I didn't finish them all. The toast was plain so I was able to add the amount of butter I like. This was a pretty large portion for breakfast. I took pancakes and a strip of bacon home for breakfast tomorrow. Hubby ordered the meat lovers scramble bowl and a lemon blueberry pancake. (I thought we were going to split mine but he wanted his one. Good thing!) the meat lovers scramble bowl is full of good stuff! Hubby let me try a few bites and I would certainly order it for myself. Bacon, sausage and ham with scrambled eggs atop hash browns with cheese and hollandaise sauce. This is such a great combination! I'd love to have it as a breakfast taco even. Their hollandaise is really good so I'll be ordering a Benedict next time we visit. And we will ask for Monica when we stop in. She's off on Wednesdays and Thursdays. I'm putting this in the review in case I need to reference it in the future. We're looking forward to trying many more menu items here and getting to know the staff. Give them a try sometime! You'll be glad you did!
