The theme was Country Nights and Carnival Lights... all day and night. I've been attending this fair for quite some time. My favorite events to watch are the livestock auction, horse riding drill team event, and the John Studebaker wheelbarrow racing. All of these shout out "community" and is unique to the area. I enjoy watching the auction and seeing the youngsters show their animals... pigs, turkeys, goats, rabbits, and Angus cattle. Plus it's pretty neat listening to the fast talking wise cracking auctioneer. The wheelbarrow barrel racing is a signature event unique to this fair. Yup, the race is named after the auto manufacturer. Contestants run an obstacle course pushing a wheelbarrow and filling a gunny sack filled with dirt. There's even a water hazard. Fun fact as a young man, John Studebaker made his way to Placerville to gold mine and ended up making wheelbarrows instead. With his hard earned money, he moved back to the Midwest to start manufacturing automobiles with his brothers. Must try food: +The local chapter of the 20/30 club makes a pretty awesome tasting taco. Slightly fried crispy shell tacos. And at $5, it's a bargain compared to the other food stand vendors. +My other favorite food vendors that were locally based was the Love Birds Coffee stand. They sell coffee drinks , doughnut, waffles, cookies, and Krispy treats. The baked goods are all homemade and hefty sized. The prices were a bit cheaper than the other food stands. I had a flavored iced coffee... delicious!!! +Some folks that we shared a picnic table with raved about another local vendor... Holy Grail Grill. The pulled pork soft tacos were outstanding! 3 for $12. Not to worry the fair had a ton of carnival food vendors...corn dogs, funnel cakes, Chinese food, soft serve, icees (including the over 21 versions), BBQ... you name it. Parking: There is no fairgrounds public parking lot. Parking is at the library. From there, a free shuttle drops off at the front admissions gate. They come around often so the wait time is minimal. The shuttle is handicapped accessible and has air conditioning. Admission: General admission is $12 and senior (60 and over ) is $10. They allow in and out fair entry, just get a hand stamp before exiting.

I booked an Afghan wedding for 200 guests, and planning an event of that size can be overwhelming, but they made it feel effortless. I visited the venue several times with family and loved ones to get opinions, visualize different layouts, and see other event setups. Despite all of our visits and endless questions, Ziarmal and Waqar were always patient, welcoming, and happy to help. Their kindness and professionalism never wavered. On the day of the wedding, everything was absolutely perfect. Waqar checked in throughout the event to make sure everything was going smoothly, while Ziarmal kept the entire wedding on schedule and coordinated every detail seamlessly. Because of them, I was completely stress-free and able to be fully present, enjoy every moment, and celebrate with my family and friends. One thing our guests couldn't stop talking about was the food. We received so many compliments throughout the night and even after the wedding about how delicious everything was. The food was incredible, and the tea and cake were just as amazing. It made us so happy knowing our guests enjoyed every part of the celebration. They truly went above and beyond to make our wedding unforgettable. Do NOT get married here. The venue is very pretty, but organizationally, they are a complete mess…read more We were trapped into it with lofty promises and a deposit of half the whole cost. There was no communication between staff, poor communication between the management and us as clients, employees were unsure of their own roles and our provided "day of coordinator" had zero idea how to coordinate a wedding and I as the bride had to keep the day moving and tell her what to do next. (Even though we came up with a typical schedule together.) The management didn't know the size of the tables available at this location, and at our rehearsal the day before our wedding, we were told that we had to redo our whole seating chart because the tables were actually smaller than we knew. The food was brought up all the way from Sacramento in a U-haul truck, which was visible to the ceremony site during the ceremony. Half of our guests got sick afterwards. The food menus they gave to us to select catering from did not reflect what was actually available either. The chef took our selections down with a sticky note, and they lost that sticky note. They had to call us to confirm our choices. Choices we had to change AGAIN because the menu changed again. I even had to fight to have a decorated cake, and even then it ended up being extremely minimalist by design. More than once our wedding detail consultation dates had to be changed in favor of weddings that were much larger than our smaller event. They basically left our event planning to the very last minute. 2 months in advance. We spent $500 on liquor and sodas for people who didn't care for our pre-fabricated signature drinks (old fashioned's and French 75's) but the venue provided bartender never even touched those supplies. Instead, he opened up all of our red wine bottles at once, giving no thought for guest demand. We had to throw out half of the untouched wine bottles at the end of the night. Our guests had ZERO idea that there were more drink options. Please save yourselves and get married somewhere else. We are haunted by this experience.

I had a few ideas of how I wanted the night to go and Sue helped to make that possible at her gorgeous log cabin venue. I had quite a few things to set up and Sue allowed us in early to take care of the setup so we weren't rushing and stressed right before the event. The holiday decor was transformed from Christmas trees to classy and elegant whites and golds for my event colors/theme. Everything was beautiful and the tri-tip buffet was delicious!! The conservatory (where we had the reception) was absolutely beautiful and the venue just recently had their ceiling draping permanently installed, and it just made it that much more beautiful in there. One of the things I loved about this venue was that everything was in one location, which made it easy for our guests to move from one area to the next. Everything turned out exactly how I envisioned and a huge part of that is thanks to Kelle, our day of coordinator. She made sure that everything ran smoothly, that the decor was placed where I wanted it, and that we were all taken care of. I didn't realize this initially, but the venue tray passed both food AND drinks during cocktail hour. The appetizers we chose were the veg flatbread pizza, coconut shrimp, and the teriyaki beef skewers. All of them were absolutely delicious! The one thing my dad said was that the guests who were sitting at tables at the furthest end of the patio weren't able to get many appetizers because the GBGC staff were coming out the door on the opposite end and were getting swarmed by the other guests before they made their way down the patio. My dad mentioned this to the staff and they were quick to make adjustments and started sending waiters out the farthest door to get to those other guests. This was so appreciated! For dinner, we chose the beef short ribs, the chicken, and the mushroom ravioli. Kelle's fingerprints are all over it, so just make sure that you pair up Kelle's management skills with a coordinator of equal caliber. Now, enough about Kelle and let's start talking about Granite Bay GC. This golf club is gorgeous! From the beautiful 18 hole golf course -- to the small lake and the wooden bridge that curves alongside the landscape; the view from here is absolutely stunning. Your photographer will be in heaven. I promise you! They have a lovely outdoor garden area that's designated for your ceremonial vows, and an indoor banquet hall that lights up with class and elegance once it's fully decorated. I haven't even gotten to the food yet. Whoever GBGC hired as their lead Chef is doing a phenomenal job. I applaud you Mr. Chef of GBGC. As a foodie and a native to Los Angeles, the food in Sacramento is truly lackluster to say the least. I know... I know, what about The Kitchen and Mulvaney's, and Morton's and Ruth's Chris, and blah blah blah. Yes, those are about as good as it gets and I still have all fingers fisted in one of my hands. They serve their food buffet style, so all of your guests will attend your event and go home satisfied. That's my word! If we can only spread the food quality at GBGC to the rest of the Sacramento Valley! And if we can only clone Kelle Collier like Tesla's Opimus to ensure that everyone in the greater Sacramento region will always have their big day end in fireworks. Wouldn't that be a dream?
