I have a decorative door made in China with a lock built into it of unique size. Other locksmiths refused to work on it, advising me that they could not obtain parts they needed to fix the lock because it was Chinese. You may have trouble finding this place if you aren't Chinese. I speak Mandarin and was even lost in Chinatown for a good 15 mins. My Korean friend came to the same place and got lost for a super long time because she didn't know to go INTO the fish market in the "CANTON PLAZA," so I had to help her. There is a single guy manning this stand and he makes all the keys. You tell him what you want and he does his thang. Then in a few mins, he is done and you just pay him in cash. Super cheap. Also, I came here twice with the same exact keys, each time its the same price (no more or no less). I was skeptical he would change the prices but he didn't. He is very professional and seems like an honest man. Just plug your nose while you wait, this is in a fish market. I made it there yesterday at 5.58 pm (2 mins before closing) and asked if he could make a copy of my scooter key. (Keep in mind I anticipated that the answer would be no - because no one stocks 1985 Honda scooter key blanks, right?) Within 6 minutes, I got a scooter key copy - he made it from a longer, existing key blank (cut for length), and told me to try it. It cost $4.50. He told me to come back if it doesn't work. It's tucked away in a fish market in Chinatown, so can be a little hard to find. I came here on Memorial Day because every other place was closed! I need 12 keys to be copied, and it was completed in 10 minutes. I went out, ate some dim sum next door, came back, and the finishing touches were being made to my keys. The owner also offered to fix them again if they didn't quite fit the locks perfectly. For my 12 copies, it was $19, which I think is a great price. Note that this place is cash only! read more

Note: Locksmith speaks mostly Cantonese, lucky I had a friend on-hand. Called around 3pm to get one of those typical handle-locks done; the gentleman said he could come after 6pm when he closed his shop. Said he would charge $25-$45. Upon arrival, he said this was a tough lock, and he might have to end up drilling it. After some fiddling with picks, he settled on drilling out the core, and charge as he had said--$40. 5+ years of using Yelp and it's about time I wrote my first review... because this guy is amazing. I handed him my key, he analyzed it, frowned a little and asked me if I've had problems opening my door with the key. I've definitely had some problems opening my door, but I had always assumed it was the lock itself, so I just said it works but wasn't GREAT. He starts working away and within 5 minutes, hands me a new key, charges me a negligible price and tells me to come back if I encounter any issues. I couldn't help being a bit skeptical at first, but I got home and tested the key and sure enough, it actually works much better than my original. Proves that not all keys are equal. Needed to get some keys copied. After 2 attempts at Lowes, the copied keys didn't work both times so I finally looked on Yelp and found this locksmith. I appreciate his method, copying keys the old school way, measuring the grooves of the keys then cutting it. He advised me, if the keys didn't work to either to go back the next day or 2 weeks after since he's going on a 2-week vacation. Great thing is all the copied keys worked!
