Excellent first visit! For starters, appointment booking with Office Manager Michelle was very easy and accommodating. The treatment I received for chronic pain in a couple different points including neck and hand/wrist has me pain free! Ryan's knowledge and bedside manner are remarkable. For those who haven't tried acupuncture and/or have a fear of needles, this is your acupuncturist! Even in highly sensitive spots, like the hand/wrist, the needles were hardly felt. Ryan was great in helping me overcome my stress and anxiety due to a rough transitional phase in my life. He used needles in my pressure points to help alleviate the tension that was building up in my body due to excessive cortisol levels that weren't treated. I cannot recommend this place enough!!! Ryan, the acupuncturist, is so kind and thoughtful. He always goes out of his way to make me feel comfortable and is so helpful with my chronic pain. Whenever I have sessions, I always walk out feeling much better compared to when I walked in. And Michelle, the receptionist, is just as kind and accommodating as Ryan. My condition is unpredictable so I often have to cancel or reschedule but Michelle never fails to be reassuring and helpful. Ryan and Michelle are really great. I've gone here for two different gym injuries and both times they were able to help my recovery along with physical therapy. I was always really impressed how Ryan is able to find all my tight spots and be able to treat them. I had been achy ever since I pulled my back and he gave me my first pain-free day thanks to his treatment. Scheduling is super easy and they were very responsive to all my communication with them. They were also great about letting me know when they had cancellations or openings that would work better for my schedule. I was desperate for pain relief on a Friday. Was looking for a walk in service. Called Fong Acupuncture and the little receptionist was extremely polite and efficient and said they could see me the following Tuesday. I didn't want to wait, but had no choice. Tuesday I had an incredibly rewarding experience with the needles for my shoulder pain. My second visit, working the scapular area, left me me with so much more mobility in my arm + shoulder and I was able to turn my head normally to the right. I have been going to Fong acupuncture for the last year to treat low fertility. I had never done acupuncture before so I was nervous at first but now I look forward to it every week. It has become almost like my weekly therapy. Ryan is not only an incredible acupuncturist but a great person - I look forward to talking to him and catching up each week. I'd be giving this business a much higher rating, but in light of recent events which I will explain below, I sadly cannot. I had a fairly terrific result from just one visit with Ryan Fong. When I emailed for another appointment (which they recommended I do) I mentioned that I wanted to see them soon, but I had some sniffles and nasal congestion, and didn't want to return until I was certain it was merely an allergic reaction to dairy (specifically cheese) I'd been eating. Dr. Fong wrote back that I had to take a COVID test, before returning, which seemed like an over-reaction to what I'd written. This struck me as absurd, because if I even suspected I could pass along ANY type of virus, I would not be returning until I felt recovered and well. I told him I would not take a "Covid test" because I felt no need (no body aches or weakness, no headaches, etc). What ensued from my original email brought about a horrible misunderstanding for some inexplicable reason, and I can't get a response from his office now, to arrange another appointment. As it turns out, my congestion WAS only dairy-related as I'd suspected, and 2 days later I felt fine and well. I received NO RESPONSE to my email revealing this, either!' I think it's a real shame, that when you find a practitioner you like and believe is gifted enough to help you, their anxiety overrides common sense and good judgment. I will start off by saying if anyone is considering acupuncture I would highly recommend Going to Fong Acupuncture. Not only is Ryan Fong a skilled practitioner but his bedside manner is lovely and you can tell he sincerely wants the best for his patients. The front desk receptionist, Michelle is always so warm and welcoming as well. Ok so I have had chronic shoulder pain for many years. Have seen an orthopedic specialist, multiple physical therapy appointments and even resorted to a cortisone shot. The shot relived my pain for about 2 months and then the pain came back with the same frequency and intensity. 3 months ago I decided to go see Ryan Fong for acupuncture and after only one session I can honestly say the pain is barely there and very infrequent. I would say it was about a 90% improvement. He also suggested a treatment called Gua Sha and I believe it was the combination of both the acupuncture and Gua Sha that alleviated by Chronic pain. I used to wake up multiple times a night from the pain and not once have I experienced this again. I only wish I would have gone to see him sooner. I went a second time this week just to see if I can turn that 90% improvement in to 100%. read more

After struggling with infertility for some time, my husband and I decided to go through IVF. I came to Fong Acupuncture under the recommendation of a nurse at my IVF clinic, after having gone through 2 IVF stimulations and 1 transfer (which resulted in a miscarriage at 7 weeks, likely due to a poor quality embryo). Ryan was sympathetic and compassionate, a wonderful introduction to the world of acupuncture having never done it before. There was no pressure to do anything I didn't want to; he recommended herbal teas and supplements and we eased into a schedule I was comfortable with financially, without feeling like I was compromising on my care and well-being. Michelle, at the front desk, is lovely and very accommodating (especially when I'm running late!). I carried out treatment for a little over a year, with Ryan adapting to whatever stage of my cycle I was in. I found myself enjoying my weekly visits and ended up with better quality eggs and embryos and eventually a successful pregnancy. Whether it was the needles or the deliberate setting aside of time to decompress or the discussions of my condition at each appointment with someone open and honest without judgement, I truly believe it all helped. I took the recommendation of a fellow mom from my mom's group on Facebook - and I'm so glad I did. Ryan and his staff were amazing - so sweet and accommodating. Ryan is awesome! I was referred to him by my infertility doctor and don't regret it. He is super knowledgeable about TCM in conjunction with infertility issues. I saw him pre IVF and throughout my whole pregnancy. I contribute having a happy and healthy pregnancy to him and my chiropractor. Found Ryan based on Yelp reviews while I was 39 weeks pregnant and just ready to get into labor naturally. I had a C-section with my first pregnancy and wanted to avoid medical induction and having another major surgery. He is magic. I started at 39 weeks and went three times over that week before my water broke. I've come to realize that within each practice of medicine (be it Eastern or Western) there are a range of temperaments. No matter the specialty, some practitioners will simply show up and take the exact same approach to each patient, barely giving you the time to talk through your problems before coming to a conclusion on your treatment. In rare cases, you'll find one who goes the extra mile to listen, work with you to connect the dots, and adjust your treatment to your needs and feedback. These are the practitioners you should seek out and hold on to, and I'm happy to say that Dr. Fong fits that description within the world of acupuncture. On my first visit, he spent a long time with me reviewing in detail my history with the pain I've been experiencing, and I really felt like he was willing to take as much time as we needed to discuss all of the details. On that and on every subsequent visit, he is meticulous and uncompromising, always willing to take the extra time to make sure we've needled every spot that's irritated and that the electrical impulses are tuned to just the right level. I especially like the gua sha treatment we do at the end (he also offers cupping if you prefer), which involves scraping along the affected area to find spots where circulation is poor. Even if you doubt some of the traditional theories behind this practice, it also doubles as a good cross-frictional massage and provides some immediate relief. As a part of my overall treatment regimen, I feel that my visits to Dr. Fong have helped control the tightness and inflammation in the areas that bother me, and complement well the other approaches I'm taking. Plus, he's a totally friendly and warm personality that makes you feel comfortable and relaxed during the treatment. I left this appointment worse than I arrived. Dr. Fong is very companionate and truly wants to help. You know there is a "however," coming here, right? I saw him last Wednesday (it is Tuesday now) for extreme sciatica pain in my lower back, hip and running down my left leg. My girlfriend suggested seeing an acupuncturist, and I thought, "what the heck!" I barely believed that sticking needles in me would do anything. I couldn't imagine it would make me worse. So I pulled up yelp and made my appointment with this highly rated individual. The needling was actually great. He put needles in my hand, face and shoulder and it definitely increased circulation in those areas. The jury is still out for me if this would have helped my hip. Then he told me he was going to "work" on my back a little. The needling went well so I was game. He had me turn on to my stomach, which I now understand put enormous pressure on the lower back, and rubbed some sort of comb or scraper (he never showed it to me) on my lower back on the exact site of the pain. He used some sort of icy-hot product as lubrication. In the moment I thought it was firm but fine. I realize now that I have some neuropathy and perhaps this is why it didn't hurt more. Within an hour of my appointment I lost the ability to lift my leg and my situation devolved for the next few hours. I have spent everyday since then stuck in bed enduring intense muscle spasms that cause me to writhe and scream in pain. He also left a sizable bruise where he rubbed my back. I have turned over what to do as a recourse and have ultimately landed on posting this review. read more

I have experienced excellent results with Dr Fong for: 1) Adult acne 2) Anxiety and inability to sleep 3) Hormone imbalance (greasy hair, hair loss) 4) Gum inflammation 5) Respiratory healing after a bad flu Adult acne: I have struggled with acne since my teens, with temporary relief (birth control, creams). My acne came back in my mid 30's with a vengeance, and I was very aware of it in my job in healthcare. I want to avoid using Acutane at all costs, but was feeling pretty desperate when nothing worked to reduce my acne. I decided to try acupuncture with Dr Fong since my husband had some great results for his acne in the past. It took a couple months, but my acne gradual reduced until it is now back to normal and my skin becomes a little clearer every hormone cycle. Dr Fong uses a holistic approach so also provided suggestions for improving my overall health (specifically to reduce acne). 2) Anxiety and sleeplessness: he recommended a herbal supplement that decreased my anxiety and allows me to sleep at night. No side effects. I'm not numb or abnormally cheerful or anything, just can handle the things that were unbearable when I was feeling anxious. 3) Hormone imbalance: my hormones were a WRECK after birthing and breastfeeding 2 babies and chronic stress from work. My hair was chronically greasy (even after washing and drying), I had night sweats, anxiety, sallow skin. Acuptuncture and herbs helped alleviate these symptoms. I'm not back to pre-baby glow, but that may be a lost cause! 3) Gum inflammation: my gums were painful when I flossed and I was thinking to go get some (overpriced) wash from the dentist. I casually mentioned it to Dr Fong, he stuck in a needle and the pain was literally gone that day. 4) Flu recovery: I had a bad flu with an awful cough that was lingering for weeks. I, again, casually mentioned it to Dr Fong and he stuck in a needle or 2 and the tickle in my lungs was cleared by the next day. I called Ryan Fong at the recommendation of my chiropractor. I was 41 weeks pregnant and really didn't want to be medically induced and was looking for more natural ways to get the process started. Ryan called me back and fit me in the same day. I had never had acupuncture done before and he did a great job of explaining to me what would happen ahead of time. The treatment itself was crazy! As soon as the needles were in, my entire uterus contracted and I had my first labor contraction on the table. It was a Friday and Ryan offered to see me again on Saturday or Monday if I needed an extra session, as it can take up to three sessions to fully induce labor.
