I have had both the acupuncture and a massage here and both are great experiences. Roxy is an amazing acupuncturist. I came to her for carpal tunnel once and she actually hit some points on my ankles! How this works I have no idea. But she said the ankle points would drain energy from my wrist and I might feel weak in it for a day or so. I felt nothing different when I left the office, but when I got home, my wrist felt so limp, I couldn't hold up a coffee cup in that hand! And my carpal tunnel went away after! It honestly feels like magic I also love that the people who work there are all friendly and the office feels clean and home- y just like the name, Blue Jean The massage therapist there is great too. I was excited to try Blue Jean after seeing it recommended in a Facebook group, especially because someone mentioned there's a queer acupuncturist on staff. The website also says they accept most PPO insurances, which felt promising. I called to ask if they accepted mine, and the person on the phone said it would depend on the diagnosis and that I'd need to come in for a consultation to find out. That made sense to me since acupuncture covers a wide range of conditions, and not all of them are covered by insurance. I scheduled a same-day consultation, drove over an hour, and paid for parking. When I walked in, Vida just stared at me and said, "Are you [NAME]?" No greeting or welcome. It was a Friday evening, so I tried to give grace in case it had been a long week, but the interaction felt awkward. After filling out the intake paperwork, I noticed there was no section to input insurance info. I mentioned that to Vida, and she asked what insurance I had. As soon as I answered, she said they don't take it and could only offer a superbill. If it was that quick and easy to determine over the counter, I wish I had just been told that on the phone. It would have saved me time, gas, and parking. I hope this clinic can offer clearer information up front in the future. And maybe greet patients when they walk in. read more

I saw Roxy for Bell's palsy during my pregnancy. I was 32 weeks pregnant and was told at the ER that it wouldn't start going away until after delivery. Let me tell you I will NEVER forget Roxy. I'm finally writing this review as today was my last session here (I am moving out of state) and wanted to share my wonderful experience with Kelly. I started coming here in the beginning of 2021 due to a slew of problems that flared up a lot last year (intense migraines, constant vertigo and nausea that would leave me bedridden, tinnitus, hormonal imbalances, etc) which I could not find any solution to. So yesterday, I had my first acupuncture session ever. I've been suffering from excruciating sciatic pain jolting down my left leg. I searched around fo an acupuncturist, because ER only gives you pills. They don't even work. I found BJA and I'll admit I was skeptical. I'll first say they are extremely patient. I had two reschedule twice and they worked with me, even as a first time patient. I arrived (in pain) and was greeted by Roxie, who is very kind. Today I woke up and not only could I walk normally, I could barely feel pain. Im definitely going back. I was referred to Roxy by a friend of a friend for fertility. My husband and I have been trying for a year, we got all the standard tests done and everything was fine, so we weren't sure what was going wrong. I decided it was time to try something else before we went farther with clinical poking and medicines. I went to Roxy once a week for 4 weeks, and looked forward to it every time. She'd ask how I was, check my charting, take stock on any aches, stress, fatigue I was having and cater each session to meet those needs. It was super cool, sometimes the needles would feel tingly and burny and I swear I could feel stuff 'open' up. I'll be honest, I'm a pretty logical, science based person, so I don't fully understand the lingo and explanations of Eastern medicine, but I can tell you I know what it feels like and it all makes sense. Dr. Han was gentle and nice enough to see me last minute. It was my first time here because of a bad case of migraine. She immediately started the acupuncture session and was listening and answering all of my questions and concerns. I'm going back for my next treatment next week! After the first session today, I immediately felt my migraine pain go from 10 to a 3. I'd never done Acupuncture before so I was a little nervous about the process. I called and made an appointment like instructed on the Groupon I had purchased. My appointment was set and they sent me email confirmations. On the day of the appointment I got a call from someone in the office saying that I had mistakenly made an appointment for a consultation only and what I needed was a consultation and the Acupuncture which she didn't have time to do that day so I needed to reschedule so I did. I arrived on time for my appointment and when I walked in the woman at the front desk was on the phone setting another appointment. I walked up to the window and she grabbed a pen and placed it on the new patient clipboard that was already on the counter. No eye contact or acknowledgement. I took the pen and the clipboard, sat down and filled out the information. As I was filling out the paperwork the woman behind the desk finished her call and still said absolutely nothing to me. I expected that she at least introduce herself since I was the only one in the office and as it turned out she was my Acupuncturist. A simple "Hello, welcome" would have been nice. She didn't even check to see if I was there for an appointment or if I was a walk in. Anyway, I finished filling out the paperwork, placed it back on the counter and waited. The woman comes back out looks at my info then asks me if I wanted some water or needed to use the restroom which was nice. I got a drink of water and advised her that I was a little nervous because I'd never done this before. As I'm walking into the back she asks me questions about what I want treatment for and I tell her a few things but I really don't know the extent of what I can be treated for. Mind you at this point there hasn't been a "consultation" just her looking at what I've written on the paperwork and ushering me into the back. She mentioned that they pretty much treat most everything you don't need to go to the hospital for. Once in the back I give her a run down on some of my concerns and what I'm guessing we should treat. In the middle of this I ask her what her name is (cause up until this point I didn't know her name because she hadn't introduced herself) she tells me her name is Roxy and I'm like okay great nice to meet you. Then I lay down and we start the session. The room was comforting. Loved the heating pad on the table and the pillows. Roxy starts poking me with the needles, again I've never done this before and I had mentioned that I had watched a couple YouTube videos but doing it yourself was different. Even with this knowledge she made no effort to let me know how the procedure would go, what I was supposed to do, how long it would take, things I might feel, or even ask me if I had any other questions before we began. She just began poking and at some point said she was going for something to make me "tingle" I said okay but I had no idea what that meant. Some of the needles pinched more than what I thought and I even said "ouch" once but she didn't seem to notice. After she finished she left the room for about 30mins? I don't know I wasn't aware of time but the thing about the fact that she left was that I didn't know that a portion of the treatment was just going to be me laying in the table with needles all over me for an extended period of time. Mind you I don't have a problem with this if this is part of the procedure but since there was no "consultation" I didn't know I was going to be left alone on the table. For the first 10 mins I thought she'd gone out to take care of something and then I realized that I was supposed to be relaxing in that time so I tried to let myself relax. So anyway, after 30mins or however long I was in there I did feel pretty relaxed and I'd even gone in there with a headache but after the session my headache was gone. Roxy returned and removed the needles. There was a lot of blood from the needle in my ear and forehead which I hadn't expected (again something that could have been covered in a consultation). Roxy did clean me up so I appreciated that. She left to let me out my shoes back on and when I looked in the mirror I realized that there was still a needle in my ear that she'd missed. I was going to call her but I decided just to take it out and be on my way. Roxy was able to talk me into buying a supplement for stress which I'll be giving a try. Overall, my experience wasn't terrible. I feel that the treatment was beneficial at least in the sense that I felt relaxed after and it had even gotten rid of my headache. But my biggest upset would be customer service. I didn't feel it was the best. It was pretty impersonal and even after being told I didn't know what to expect and was nervous about what was going to happen I wasn't offered any information, a pamphlet, a video, or anything that would tell me what I was in for.
