This practice changed our lives -- for me and my kid! 1) I first came to Dr. Pan only because it had been nearly 50 days since my last menstrual cycle. The consultation took me by surprise because the first thing she asked me was to show her my tongue (ha!). I did and then she immediately asked me how my digestion was. Confused as to what this had to do with my period, I answered that my digestion was pretty chronically bad and she nodded as though she already knew this. She then explained to me that in Eastern medicine, we want to treat the root cause of issues (i.e., hormone imbalances that need to be corrected/reset), rather than just the symptoms that surface in our daily lives (i.e., what we see as just skipped periods and poor digestion/gut motility). I received a referral for acupuncture from Kaiser Permanente to heal lower back pain after a hit and run collision and found Dr. Pan here on Yelp. I went to her twice within one week. I'm not great with needles but I've had acupuncture before and have always found it not only healing but also relaxing. However, my experience with Dr. Pan was much different. Both times, it felt very rushed and impersonal. It seemed as if she was in a hurry to get the needles in which resulted in a few "OUCH" moments and then left them in for only 15 minutes the first time and 20 minutes the second time after I kindly told her I felt "rushed". I could hear a timer going off outside the door like I was a egg in boiling water. They up-sold cupping both times saying it was beneficial after the acupuncture treatment. They charged me an additional $10 for FIVE minutes of cupping. Trust me. The last thing you want to feel is rushed when someone is sticking a ton of needles into you. PS: Between my $50 co-pay and $10 for the 5-minute cupping, it was hardly worth it. I found someplace else more relaxed and attentive which, for me, is far more healing. read more

Although I completed various treatments, such as chiropractic and physical therapy, counseling, I was still going through existing conditions. I have always preferred and cherished holistic treatment and its perspective overall for my health and wellbeing. I went through chemotherapy before having a Bone Marrow Transplant back in 2015. About a year after my transplant I began dealing with hot flashes, insomnia, mood swings etc... The hospital put me on HRT (hormone replacement therapy) right away. I wish I'd known then what I know now. The moment you start giving your body therapies --it becomes dependent on those therapies & will sometimes no longer produce because you are supplementing it. After 7 years of HRT the doctors told me that a miracle had happened and that my ovaries were functioning on their own and that I should get off all HRT. I received that call in September 2022. I immediately got off everything and very slowly I began feelings like a completely different person...I felt like a shell of myself. Anxiety, hot flashes, mood swings, brain fog, excessive tearfulness, panic. By December 2022, I went back to the doctor and they told me that my body was in menopause (I am 34) and that I should resume HRT. I was devastated. I sought out a different doctor after that incident happened. But before I did there was a part of me that wanted to believe that I could be healed and that perhaps my ovaries could be stimulated to do their own thing with a little bit of help. (I so wish I had done acupuncture immediately after the transplant) With the symptoms torching me, I found a few acupuncturists. Namjo was by far THE BEST. I went into her office sleep deprived, distraught, tearful, and anxious. I was also a newlywed with 0 libido. She didn't make me any promises but she calmed my anxiety TREMENDOUSLY. She gave me herbs that helped with the hot flashes. I kept going to her about 3x per week before I found the new western medicine provider. Namjo had told me that my case might be hard since I was on HRT for 7 years. She explained to me what I explained earlier--that when you take medication (or HRT) you are sending messages to the pituitary gland that it does not need to make estrogen. Sending that message for 7 years is a LONG time. She explained to me that she was trying to stimulate my adrenal glands to produce estrogen. I gave her about 1.5 month before I had my labs redrawn--the labs said that I was still in menopause but I was hopeful that wasn't the case because she had helped SOOOOO much with the symptoms. The new provider (western doctor) told me that Acupuncture DOES work but her concern for me was that not getting estrogen was dangerous for my heart, bones, and overall quality of life. Truthfully I wish I could have just kept with the acupuncture for a year without continuing HRT but my Husband felt like I was suffering still too much. The new provider suggested Bioidentical hormone therapy and continuing acupuncture. There are some women who can't take hormones because of cancer! So the doctor said she knew that Acupuncture worked--especially with symptoms. Namjo is very skilled at what she does. She gave me many lymphatic massages to get the chemotherapy toxins out of my body (my neck was hard when I first saw her) (and now its soft and doesn't hurt when she massages) The acupuncture really did help with the symptoms. Unfortunately my hubby and I are moving away & Namjo was kind enough to do research for me in Richmond, VA. If we weren't moving, I would still be seeing her. Her methods work & I highly recommend using her for pain or any ailments you may have before taking any western medicine. She is very kind. The office is clean & peaceful. I went for acupuncture for the first time. I was a little put off by what I felt were dirty towels ect. I didn't feel confident that the linen covers or towels were changed between clients.
