I dropped a 24 month dress off to have the hem resent. I prepaid and was given a receipt with a 10 day date on it before I could pick it up. No problem, that's reasonable. The afternoon of that given date I hear the two ladies talking in the back that it's a pick up for today but hadn't even been started yet. As I said this is ridiculous I was screamed at by the employee that they were very busy and that only two of them work there. No apology, no kind words, nothing. As for the workmanship when it was ready was terrible. She didnt follow the hem line already in place and the hem was hiked up on one side. A child could have done better. I expected something for my inconvenience but nothing but anger from the two woman. Simple solution, next time I will pass by Fongs!​ read more

I can only review for the alteration's service because I've never used them for dry cleaning. I don't know why, but ladies blue jeans are all made for 5'10" or taller women, it seems! So, I brought in a couple of pairs of denims and a pair of dressy pants to see about hemming them. The small shop was clean, and the lady owner was friendly. She has one or two tiny fitting rooms where you try your items on and then she quickly pins them up. You pay, you go and in a few days return to a nice hem job, pressed denim and for a reasonable price. I think it was ~ 16-18 dollars for hemming unlined dressy pants and one pair of jeans. And In fact, she talked me out of hemming one of the pair of jeans that I brought in after reminding me that if I washed them in super hot water and dried them, they would probably be just right -- she was right! :-) I'll be taking a few winter coats with sleeves designed for baboons to have her shorten the sleeves soon. read more

Fong's does a decent job with alterations, but there are certainly some quirks. For example, the changing room is incredibly tiny and is simply three walls and a slatted door directly next to the cash register and the fitting mirrors. That means you change right next to people coming and going to pick up dry cleaning, and step out of the changing area into the doorway of the place. If you want a private fitting area, look elsewhere, because at Fong's, you're sharing your time and sense of style with everyone who enters. I'm hot so I got a lot of compliments but others won't be so lucky. You also have to prepay for everything. After prepaying nearly $150 for alterations, I had to prepay again to get those items pressed. Most other places are not prepaid. Another quirk of Fong's. That said, the work seems top notch. They know how clothes should fit and are willing to take the time to make it right. I can't speak to the dry cleaning side of things yet, but I'm hopeful. It can't be as weird as being ogled by grannies picking up their pants suits or soccer moms picking up snooty school uniforms. UPDATE 4/11/2014: Fong's pressed my suits like a boss. I wore one of them to work today (on a Friday, just because I'm counter culture) and the ladies were stalking ol' Nikolay like I was the Pied Piper. The creases were centered on the pants and not double creased like some of the other places. It wasn't next day service, but was definitely worth the wait. If you don't need next day service and don't mind prepayment, you should check out Fong's for alterations and pressing your gear. read more

They did a good job but it's a bit overpriced compared to what other places have charged me. I paid 50 to have my zipper replaced, 80 to have it hemmed and 20 just to have the straps shortened. She did do a good job though. read more

She has never let me down. I've gone here to get everything hemmed. School skirts, pants, prom dresses, and now my sisters bridesmaid dress. I thought I was going to have to get her to let it out a little bit to make it bigger but she insisted it would fit-- which it did. Saved me $$. First of all I got charged $20 for them to take in maybe an inch on some shorts. Not only that but an extra $10 to get it the next day and the lady claimed, "no where else will do that." Which is a lie. Not to mention the Asian lady there is extremely rude. Don't go here, other places charge way less and also said I could pick it up that day and they would charge $15 total. I'd heard good things about Fong's so I took in a Harris tweed sport coat to have the sleeves shortened and the buttons moved. I could have gone anywhere but I went there because I'd heard they were meticulous. They did a great job on the sleeves but didn't move the sleeve buttons, so it doesn't look exactly right and isn't an exact alteration. Same time with a reversible top coat I took in at the same time, the sleeves were too long. They cut them an inch too short, the stitching isn't straight but those aren't the biggest problems, (with the sleeves already too short you'd think that'd be impossible) they didn't taper the sleeves so with them already too short they gape open like a wizard's sleeves leaving the coat unwearable. They might be a great dry cleaners but I'll never go back to find out. read more

First time I went there I had two jeans altered and it was great. Just to let u know I made a special trip, I live 45 min away but heard good things. So I brought in a crocheted/lace top. They told me they could fix the hole which I had clipped on a corner. I waited a week and went back. I examined the job and there was still a hole and told the cashier. She at first denied that it was the place they worked on until I showed her further. She told me ms. fong had just left and I would have to wait and hour or just leave to be repaired again. I asked for a refund because it is a long ways for me to go. Lady at the register reluctantly called ms. Fong and she said I could have a full refund. She gave me the cash and I thanked her and said that I appreciated the jester. Then out of the blue she said she was going to keep my pick up ticket and that ms. Fong may not do business with me again. I was stunned. I told her I had a really great experience the first time and thanked her...I mean the work Had not been done, there was a gaping hole still in the garment...no apologies from her. I was extremely offended and I explained I drive a long way for their services so I asked if there is a chance she would not take future alteration jobs from me that she just tell me and I would find someone else. She was very smug and just said "ok" which seemed to mean we don't care if u come back. It was an awful experience and horrible customer service. I was stunned at how I was treat based on the fact was that they had not done their job, I was made to feel embarrassed...I wonder if she would have treated me that way if another customer was there. I would stay away from this place...any complaints will get you banished. Ugh read more

The first time it was ok and had scrubs hemmed at $8 each. I went back and she told me she had quoted wrong price and iF I wanted the split in the side it was supposed to be $10. I said forget it because it was not rocket science to do the split. While I was in there another man came by to get the sleeves of his shirt shortened and they wanted $25. He told them he paid less than that for the shirt so I decided to take my scrubs home and hem them myself. I am tired of being overcharged. read more

I picked up my suit and jacket and the hem was out of the skirt in the suit. Lady behind the counter mentioned she would hem it for $5 and that she doesn't make any money on the dry cleaning part. For what she charged me to clean a wool jacket I am suspicious. Considering there was no thread in the hem area I am very suspicious that this was deliberately done. I will not be back. read more

If I could give it 0 stars, I would! Fong's came recommended to us from some locals so we gave it a go with 2 suits that needed alterations.These suits were just purchased 1 week prior to alterations. When we went to pick the suits up, on the day we were told to, we were told that one wasn't ready yet, so we needed to come back in an hour. Well 5 minutes later the suit was apparently ready. As soon as i took the plastic off I could see that there was a damage hole from where Mrs Fong moved the button hole to lengthen the arms. There were threads hanging everywhere off of it and the seams were all crooked. Mrs.Fong came out to try to distract us from seeing these mistakes. I asked her what happened to the sleeve, where she moved the buttons, with the damage hole. She claimed it was a moth hole. A moth hole? I told her it's where the chalk is from her markings from moving the buttons. "Oh okay" is what I got. Looking closer @ the suit I see 2 cut holes towards the top of the same sleeve. I asked her abt those too and she claimed it must have been moths. Again with the moths! She wouldn't own up to the fact that she damages the suit AND used bright blue thread to stitch up a grey suit! I asked her politely to please level with me and be honest b/c I can respect the truth. She stuck with her moth story and said she would go back to the store with us and make them take it back b/c she does this "all the time!" Hmm..I've never heard of a good tailor that forces retail stores to take back damaged suits "all the time." We know that the suit didn't have these holes b/c we would have noticed it in the store and NOT purchased the suit. So not only did Mrs. Fong deny all responsibility for the damages, she went as far as to take a razor to the suit and rip open a seam to prove that she didn't use the bright blue thread on the inside of the seams! Um we can see the treads hanging out of the seams, you don't need to cut the suit open. However, before we knew it she physically CUT OPEN THE SUIT!!! We yelled for her to stop and grabbed the suit away as she turns towards the counter and slams her head DOWN ON IT carrying on like a lunatic! Claiming how she kissed our butts and that we should be thankful to her for that. Um...what??? She physically destroyed our suit, that was pre-paid upon drop off, and for that we should be thankful?? She clearly went postal and was yammering on incoherently. No one who worked for the store offered a refund or compensation for the damages that were incurred, so we left stupefied! Overall this was the worst and craziest experience in alterations that we've ever dealt with. BEWARE of cheap work, with potential damages at high retail prices! read more

HORRIBLE!!!!! I took my wedding dress to this place in hopes it would fit perfect! I was so wrong. I took it for the length to have alterations, when I picked it up the dress looked fine. I wanted to add a bustle to the dress so I took it to a bridal shop. When I tried on the dress today, I was surprisingly SURPRISED to see the length was still an inch to long and the skirting was still 4 to 6 inches to long. When the I took my dress back to Fong's to see if I could get some money back from the alterations that were supposedly to be done she refused to refund ANY money to back. She offered to "fix" the dress, which I was NOT going to let her touch my dress again. She had the chance to make it perfect for our big day but ruined it to a point. I paid her $200.00 for her to do the alterations and only received about $50.00 worth off work!!!! I am very displeased with her & this place and will not be going back to her for nothing! I do not recommend her or this place for anything. This is a bride's nightmare and she caused it! My recommendation to each bride, bridesmaid or any formal alterations - DO NOT GO TO FONG'S!
