Food Bazaar has an extensive selection of ethnic and international food, mostly from Latin America and the Caribbean but some I've seen some European products as well. The ground coffee and espresso aisle is by far the best of any market in the area, with a variety of Cuban-American, Puerto Rican, Dominican, and Colombian brands. There are always deals and specials going on for coffee. The produce section is another highlight. This is only of the few places in the area that you'll find good quality platanos, yuca/cassava, and any kind of tropical fruit. The slight downsides are that the prices are often slightly higher than a regular supermarket, and there never seem to be enough cashiers working. read more

Super Duper ethnic and American market! Latino music playing over the loudspeaker makes me want to dance down the well stocked aisles. Their meat department is no joke(as is their seafood department). The butcher is behind the counter with a big sharp knife cutting slabs of meat to order. The prices are fantastic. The selection is amazing and very unusual for a gringo. I love the hurly burly atmosphere. Very old school. Not for the faint of heart. Lol! Best of all in my neighborhood! Go Trenton!! read more

My wife is from Colombia, so whenever she needs to make up pot of sancocho or ajiaco, this is the go-to location for us. For the Latino, Carri bean or Asian shopper, it's a real godsend with a expansive selection of all things melting pot. The produce selection is very large, as are the meat and the seafood area has products, conch for example, that aren't likely to be able to find anywhere else in the area. That being said, what they don't carry is as telling as what they do carry. In the meat section they've got hens and hog's face, but you can't always find a rib-eye. The produce selection is large, but don't look for any organic products or you'll be wandering the aisles for a long time. The selection in the market is aimed at low to middle income customers, and immigrant customers looking for products they know. There's a large selection right in the middle of the store labeled "Welcome Home" where customers can find hundreds of brands imported in from all over the world. The lack of organic foods is an issue for me, but I understand that I'm not their core customer either. I'd also like to know where the vegetables, fish and meats are from before I buy them, but that's not likely to happen. If you're trying to be careful about where your food is coming from and how it's produced, this place isn't your best choice. The variety of international foods is very good, and for that it's a very good place to shop, but the gringo food choices aren't nearly as complete, so unless you're eating food from the old country 24-7, you might need to go somewhere else to find what you're looking for. One other place where they really could stand to improve is their tiny food court. You'd think with all the wonderful products from all over the world that they'd have wonderful dishes available in the food court. That's not the case. Cheap, fried, fast food and nothing else. If they'd expand the area and improve the selection, I'd probably find myself asking my wife for Colombian food more often just so I can go to the market with her. read more

I would have given it five stars, but the lines in the store stopped me. I often come here for flowers, because they have a great selection. But the line in the express lane is always long and slow moving. Taking into account the neighborhood it's in, you can assume that general population does not care about certain rules and traditions. This includes using the 15-items-or-less in the express lane rule. And the store associates do not enforce it. Great selection of seafood. Fresh fruit and vegetables. Like I said. Had a rare "WOW!!!" moment. In a classic case of "Don't judge a book by it's cover", Cynthia, Aji & I were totally awed when we stepped inside Food Bazaar (http://www.myfoodbazaar.com/Default.aspx) at Roebling Market in Trenton. From the outside, it looked like just another supermarket. But inside... The fresh seafood counter was GIGANTIC, they had "minyak angin", ox tail, frozen banana leaves, etc. For the Latinos, I think many will find it's like being back in Mexico, Honduras, Brazil or wherever they came from. Teixera's breads, Chicken Marsala etc at the hot buffet. Wow! Do yourself a favor & go over to check it out. Imagine Wegmans with a Latin twist. Who knew that Trenton would be home to such an amazing place. read more

I absolutely love that I can find all Latin American products here. There is a great variety, the produce is fresh and it isn't crowded. If you wish to use your manufacturers coupons though, this place always seems to give me a hard time. If they have a sale on the item you have a manufacturer coupon for, they won't accept it. read more

Ok! So I just got back from Miami Beach and was dying to buy some products that would have cost me a bitter shipping fee from that big internet superstore that shall remain unnamed! After consulting Chowhound, I was pleasantly surprised to be informed that Food bazaar carried nearly every Latin American, South American, Carribbean product i would/could want. AND...it's a mere hop skip and a jump away from me! I went this morning and was SHOCKED! How had I lived in it's proximity for so long and not known about this place? The produce section is HUGE and priced for the budget! The meat section is unlike any other I have come across. Fresh meat and frozen! The tortilla and arepa section was a revalation! AND if that weren't enough, they have a separate fish section! Oh the joy! In the bakery aisle, my much loved Coconut bread!! And they did have the Peruvian aji amarillo both in paste and frozen form. I am so happy to have found this place! read more

I wish I could give them a 3.5. The place is ok in terms of produce but when getting the produce if they are vegetable please check them throughly. I was a bit dissapointed when I bought some avocados in February when they looked fine in the surface but when I opened them they were rotten. This is something that could happen everywhere. Aside from that the cashiers could be a bit more nicer or welcoming. The place is a go to place whenever I have the cravings for some snacks from back home. The pricing unlike what others have mention is not that bad if you compare it to shop rite. My only con would be I wish they offer more sales for Almond milk! read more

I rated this three stars, but it's more like 3.5. The store is large and focuses to a mainly Hispanic demographic. This means that their stock does lean towards what the Hispanic community buys when it comes to food items. For example, there is a large fish section and produce section, but their meat department is lacking. I've found it almost impossible to buy 80% lean hamburger, which is very common at almost every market I go to. Here though, it's 75% lean at the same price 80% would be elsewhere. Then it jumps to 90%. Likewise, other types of meat tend to lean towards a certain demographic and do not have the variety you'd expect, even though there is a large quantity. The meat department is almost like a refrigerator in that the entire area (there's only two archways into the "room") is extremely cold and held at refrigerator temperatures. Seriously, you can't stay in there long without a jacket. The produce section has a wide variety. It's next to the meat department and is likewise chilled, though not to as severe a degree. The produce is generally good and varied. The fish section is huge. I can't comment more on it. The rest of the supermarket has a selection of food items, but is VERY limited in non-food items. Cleaning supplies, personal care products, medicines, season items, household products.... all have extremely limited selection. Even certain aspects of the food items is a bit limited, like having less selection of cheeses or baking supplies, but larger selection of economy-sized canned foods. Sometimes there is a slight language barrier as the majority of workers comes from the community and is hispanic. By far, English is still understood, but occasionally you find yourself trying to make your question better understood when you ask the butcher about a particular cut of meat or a worker where a specific item is. The pricing is not particularly good. It's not exorbitant, but it seems like fewer items are placed on sale and a lot are manufacturer's suggested price, which is the highest you'll see in a store. read more

Terrible customer service!!! Went in today to purchase a few things and everything went smooth until I got to the register. The cashier Daniela M. was talking to who I think was her supervisor and to other cashiers. I was waiting there for a few minutes before I had to go out of my way to ask her to scan my items and charge me. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!! Couldn't believe the supervisor was allowing this none sense to go on. She didn't even greet me when she began to scan my items and had an attitude I'm guessing because I told her to scan my items, but if you are at your job, then DO YOUR JOB!!! The lines are ridiculously long no matter when you go. They have an awesome variety of ethnic groceries which is awesome. They also have a lot of seafood and fresh fruits and vegetables. I wouldn't shop here snacks or regular groceries that you can find in walmart because they are a bit pricey. read more

I just returned home from this supermarket. The selection of products is huge. There is a lot of variety specifically for hard to get ingredients for Latin American recipes. However, the lines are very long and there weren't a lot cashiers. I had to wait approximately 40 minutes to finally pay. The Female Manager on site said there was nothing that could be done about it. There are also people in the parking lot always asking for money to take the train. It's a nice supermarket but the Management and the surrounding low level hustlers leave a lot to be desired. read more

Caution, the spaces in the parking lot are *very* narrow so it might be smart to park farther out from the store if you want to be able to open your car door and get in when you are done shopping. My car isn't that big but I got boxed in and could not open my door until the next-door car's owner came out. read more
