Prices are very reasonable for restaurant food, I think, and the quality is absolutely there. They have all the food in heated pans at the front, though the mofongo had to be prepared separately. When I ate the food later on, everything was absolutely delicious. If I'm in the area again, I'll definitely order again! Inside, there are a few TVs, and you order at the counter even if sitting in for a meal. Looks clean and cozy enough, and I would imagine fairly crowded at the right times, but I was there mid/late afternoon, so I only saw one table w/ a customer eating. I wouldn't be opposed to it sometime other than having to pay for parking!

Love that this place feels like a hidden gem but they honestly deserve to be packed at all time…read more This place is INCREDIBLE and I am getting hungry just looking at the pictures. The two times I've gone I've ordered the fish chunks which come with rice and beans (so delicious!!). You must try their sweet plantains and their tres leches cake. I've tried bites of the oxtail and, as some who has practiced pescatarianism (at times loosely) for 5+ years, it makes me question everything. It's just so so good. Service is friendly and I love that they're BYOB. The prices are super reasonable for the portions and the quality of the eats!!

I'm from QNZ, NY but living in the area so I know my Dominican food. The food slaps pretty good…read more Rice was homemade, I can tell. Chicharron was perfect just like the bodega down the block back in the hood. Beans were great. I'll be coming back often. Don't sleep on this spot.

Limited by travel as of late I agreed to try a new place my husband found on Yelp for a late lunch…read more I ordered takeout, 4 different dishes just to try a few different items on the menu. I'm not sure if this establishment has dine in option as I did not pickup the order. The Mofongo de chicharron, which was overall fine, the sauce has a lot of good flavors. However, I have to mention that at the center of the mofongo there was a large piece of pork skin that was not mashed that was over an inch long. I was reluctant to try to chew this piece but I gave it a go anyways. It took about 6 minutes to chew through it but I just ended up swallowing some pieces just to get it down. This large piece of skin also created a crater in the middle of the mofongo which made part of the mold hallow. Cutting the chicharron pieces into smaller pieces might have been better. Other than that there were good flavors, a good balance of chicharrones and plantains. The lunch specials on the menu indicate the entrees are served with white rice, mixed rice and salad, much to my family's dismay they were not aware that "salad" meant pasta salad, so if you're not a fan of mayonnaise based pasta salad I wouldn't recommend it. The res guisado/beef stew and the rabo guisado/oxtail stew where practically identical, the portion of entree to sides are severely at an imbalance. You get a small scoop of the stew and the rest of the takeout box is filled with rice, pasta salad and wedged on top of your rice is a small condiment container of sauce that my family said was unidentifiable. The rabo guisado, as mentioned above looks identical to the res guisado with the addition of the small pieces of oxtail. We also had an order of chicharrones, it wasn't bad it had good flavors, it was bit softer than I preferred but still had some crunch to the skin, not maximum crunch but some. Was the chicharrones worth $14? Sadly no. Would I give them another chance? Possibly, just for the mofongo, but that's just a maybe.

We ordered a bunch of food, and everything was just okay. Same for the drinks decent, nothing special. I was actually going to rate it higher... until I saw roaches. That instantly changed everything and made me question the entire sanitation of the restaurant. I've been nauseous just thinking about it. Once you see one roach, you already know there are more and if you bring even one into your home, it becomes a nightmare to get rid of. Because of that, I cannot recommend this place to anyone. Cleanliness is the bare minimum, and this totally ruined the experience.

A beautiful entrance with artificial flowers covering the walls, a heart of red flowers. Inside a collection of pottery resembling relics of pre-Columbian times. The menu was limited. I swayed between steaks, and decided on Puerquito, a dish for two. Slow roasted pork, rice & peas, onion escabeche, maduros. Delicious. I had left-overs for two more meals. An iced cold Presidente beer accompanied the meal. Service was pleasant and prompt by a young woman, Dayria. Music played in the background, not too loud, maybe because I was sitting at the front of the restaurant. An espresso to cap the meal was needed to End a good dinner. I left happy and full.
