As far as island grocery stores go, this is definitely in the top list. There is ample parking next to the store. The shelves were well stocked, including meats and fresh produce. In fact, the shelves were amazingly organized and displayed. They provided bags (they may have cost 10 cents). They also bagged your items and helped you get them to your car. I would not say this store is 5-star worthy on the mainland, but based on the others I visited on St. Thomas, it's clearly a stand out. Firstly, they've got plenty of easy parking right out front. This can not be said for either of the More's grocery stores we visited. Secondly, they've got a much better selection of most items than the other stores. Not only do they have more items in general, but they've got a deeper selection of those items they do carry. They had more dairy products, larger selection of fruits and vegetables, and a much larger deli too. Lastly, their prices are better across the board. That being said, things aren't cheap here on St Thomas and you should expect to spend 30-50% more on items than you'd pay back home. I was surprised to see so few reviews. After having been to the Moe's Fresh Market in Red Hook and at the Waterfront and passing the sketchy Pueblo market, you'd be well served to make a run here to stock up if you're staying on the island. read more

If you're from the states, then this is place to go they have pretty much everything you would want. You will need to expect to pay for it though if you don't mind spending eight dollars for a box of Ritz crackers if you really need to have Ritz crackers then probably should just stay at home. read more

We love the food center! Post hurricanes this was one of the first grocery stores to re-open and they did with AC! No one has AC! I'm not sure of what the complaints are about in previous reviews with sub-par freshness of items here. It's all good, from their meats to produce and hot and cold ready to eat items we've never had a problem. The French bread sandwiches they serve here are better than subway! They are made daily, are more massive and only $4.99. When the island was still struggling to get basics back up and running we came here to get produce because they somehow got a shipment in that no one else had. I do see the reason of why there are complaints of it being expensive, it can be with certain items like household products, pet items, and non perishable goods. I'd say it's 25% more but this is the largest grocery store on this side of the island. The only other one is Moe's in red hook and they are guaranteed to be more expensive. They also have grocery delivery to your car, and tip is at your discretion but I'd be nice and be generous if you come here often, otherwise you may wind up having broken eggs and crushed produce. All around BEST grocery store I have been to on St Thomas. I have been to Plaza, Food Center, Moe's, and Louie's Market). Food Center has a good all around variety. Decent prices (Moe's Grocery, Red Hook, is as much as $2 expensive for items I compared). Parking is easy (Moe's is a pain). Decent beer, wine, and liquor (Moe's maybe a little better on this). Good fish and meats. Produce also pretty good (like Plaza, Tutu, better for produce). Aisles have pretty much all you need (Plaza also better on the aisles). read more

Move on to the next store. I wanted a crab mixture from the Deli, but apparently, when the server started to also give me rice, and I said "No I don't want any rice," she refused to give me the crab mix. When I asked I could have just the crab, she said "no" Well that's nice that the store can afford to have their deli servers decide what they feel is appropriate for the paying customers, who are helping to PAY HER SALARY. Fortunately, she saved me whatever the cost of the crab mix, that probably wasn't any good anyway. I tried the rice and peas she tried to give me and I didn't find them very good. read more

Closest we have found to a grocery store like in the US, but staff are not nice & just seem to not give a damn. There was one women who came out screaming at the customers for not lining up right. She's lucky someone didn't cuss her ass out. Very unprofessional of her. You would think they would be more grateful to the tourists bc that's who brings in the money, but instead they give you a dirty look. The only reason I give it 3 stars is bc it has the best variety of items. Definitely more expensive than in the States, but to be expected being on an island. read more

This is a very clean and well organized grocery store! The parking lot is pretty large. Enter the store and walk towards the right, shopping carts can be located there. This is a very well stocked grocery store and you can find everything from fruits, vegetables, drinks, meats, seafood, frozen food items, liquor and beer. I would definitely recommend this place if you are staying in St Thomas for an extended amount of time. read more

Be prepared for sticker shock. While we expected prices to be higher than the mainland, this place is just crazy. A box of cereal is $9. A case of water $7. A small sleeve of crackers $8. A dozen eggs is $8. Gallon of milk, $7. etc. A much better option, if you have a car and can drive the extra ten minutes, is to go to Cost U Less. That is like a Sam's Club (you don't need a membership to get in though) and the prices are pretty close to the prices on the mainland. read more

Its a store in the caribbean....yes its cost more but everything comes in on a barge..then its so exspensive for electricity on the island to store all the stuff and as far as being rude maybe its you complaining tourists that is the problem Please do not come back to our island if you find so terrible read more

The grocery store is decent sized with good selection. Meat is just a bit more than Midwest US prices but packaged items are double. The employees were friendly and helped us bring groceries to the car. Worth a stop if you have a condo for the week. read more

This is probably the worst grocery store I've ever visited. The staff is rude and the prices are outrageously expensive ($6.59 for a lb of butter). The produce is not ripe or fresh and many of the center store items (canned food, flour, etc) are expired. The fresh chicken/ fish looked particularly questionable. You should definitely exert the extra effort to get groceries in another area besides Red Hook. We had better luck at the inland stores near the Tutu Park Mall. read more

This is the cleanest most well stocked grocery store we have found here. Fresh produce, meats and the Deli is fantastic. The ladies cook up traditional island food daily. We get a large meal for $10 and two can eat until full. One meat, two veggies and rice. Excellent curried chicken, fish, green bananas (taste like baked potato!), green beans, etc. Never had anything we didn't like. They have a large variety of beer and wine and are the most reasonable prices. Staff is friendly. Certainly expect things to cost about 50% more than the mainland but that's just an island. read more

If you're staying at the Marriott Frenchman's Cove or Marriott Frenchman's Reef, I would recommend this grocery center as your best option. If you have a car, you will be able to avoid any St. Thomas traffic and get there easily. The store versus the Pueblo stores and the K-mart has more gluten-free and dairy free options across all food lines. You will also see a lot of Red Mill gluten-free grains and product in the store. read more

I truly have bad feelings about this market... I absolutely hate the meat it is obvious the butcher does not take pride in his work. This butcher specializes in rainbow meat yuck!! The chicken is yellow and slimy!!Buyers quality of meat is poor and prices are incredibly high. I go to buy my Irish oats and fresh bread or for an emergency. This market is solely on our island to take advantage of tourists. Produce is Meh. Seriously nothing to go in for unless i wanna pay double than everywhere else. $12.00 for a six pack of Dr. Pepper are they crazy!!!! Based on some of the poorer reviews, I was sort of expecting a nightmare from this store. Instead, it's perfectly well-stocked, clean, and adequate. I was pleasantly surprised. The reason it gets three stars is the pricing. Example: An 8-pack of Oscar Mayer hotdogs goes for $9. A comparable pack just next to it is $5, and the suspiciously obscure brand on the other side is $2. So the pricing feels very inconsistent. This happened all over the store. $5 for a bottle of ketchup, but only $4 per pound of boneless skinless chicken breast. $4.25 for a pack of 8 hamburger buns. My advice for more consistent pricing as a shopper? Choose the frozen stuff. That said, we got out of there with 3-4 days worth of groceries (three meals a day) for $120. That's comparable to most shops back where I'm from. Everyone was polite and helpful. A man helped us load our bags into the car, and though he did mention that "we accept tips," he truly deserved one. If the shop was a little closer to where I'm staying, I'd shop here more often. read more

The largest grocery store in the area. A relatively big selection (for St. Thomas) at relatively good prices (for St. Thomas). If you are comparing it to a grocery store in the States it is small, run down, and limited. If you are comparing it to others here, it is large and affordable. We've come to St Thomas for 15 years and this is the very worst grocery store on the island. The staff, without fail, is ALWAYS RUDE. They seem to go out of their way to frown, scowl, and generally make any island visitor feel like they are intruders. The store is pricey, not well stocked, some strawberries we bought were moldy the next day and yogurt was outdated. For those that don't know Marina Market in Red Hook is closed so if you need to stock up use Pueblo in town or the supermarket up by K-Mart but avoid Food (Rude) Center unless you enjoy spending money with people who don't like you. read more

Large selection and reasonably clean. The vegetables are ok, but not the freshest...my main complaint is in the meat dept. I am pretty sure they are using meat glue for some of the more expensive cuts. After trying their "rib-eye" steak, I will no longer buy them. read more
