St. John Gourmet Market has a good selection of food items, even a few vegan/vegetarian products. The store is always clean, shelves are neatly stacked and it's open until 10pm. This place is perfect if you are staying at the Westin. You can walk over as it is only a block away from the gate into the Westin. Don't be surprised as the prices are expensive. If you can afford the Westin you should be able to afford a few basics from St. John Market. If you have a car, I did like Starfish Market a little better. read more

I walked here from the Westin St. John several times during my week stay. I discovered Vigo brand dry Red beans and rice mix which is yummy and hard to find in California. I bought their raw chicken thin cutlets for a "clean" source of protein; the cutlets sautéed quickly in my Westin kitchen. Their raw eggs made delicious scrambled eggs for breakfast. This market stocks yummy baked treats that I used for breakfast and afternoon "tea" on my Westin balcony. The selection of food was perfect for me to prepare balanced meals in the limited Westin kitchen (no oven). So glad I could walk here! read more

Well first thing to say is that EVERYTHING on the island is expensive. That said the market is the best option near the Westin resort. The fruit and vegetables are limited and the dairy section is good when stocked. We found the meats were good, just not plentiful. I'd bring your own shopping bags instead of carriage their plastic bags. read more

Location is perfect if you're staying at Westin. It has a little of everything but not a lot to choose from. Non-the less it is close. In addition they do have prepared food which is excellent. Perfect for a cooked lunch. Service depends on lock. I was there last night two cashiers. One had a real attitude borderline rude. The other warm and charming. I was comfortable with the first choice it reminded me of my mother-in-law. ;) This place is perfectly fine, it is just not my favorite. Regardless it is a much better deal then shopping at the Westin Market right next to Lemongrass Oh one more point. They have beer, wine, and spirit! This is a great market to stop at if you're staying at the Westin St. John and would like to stock up on some supplies. They have a very good selection of produce, meats, packaged foods, wine/beer/spirits, and sundries. In short, everything you could need while staying at a resort. It's also very close to the Westin and an easily walkable 5 min from the entrance to the resort. After becoming frustrated with the quality and price of breakfast at the Westin, I came here looking to buy ingredients to make breakfast. Basically I was sick of paying $40 for mediocre breakfasts for 2. At St. John market I was able to get eggs, bagels, cream cheese, oil/salt/pepper, fruit for a fruit salad, and mango juice for ~$20. Still pricey, but food on an island is generally pricey and this was enough food for 3 days of breakfast. So $3.50/meal compared to $20/meal at Westin and for better tasting food. A steal! read more

My wife and I have been to ST JOHN WESTIN 9 times in the last 21 years. We have a timeshare villa with a kitchen so we tend to cook and rely heavily on groceries. Both of the Dolphin Markets on the west side of the island used to be good. However, we just returned in early April this year. Both Dolphin Markets should be ashamed of themselves. Firstly, the produce is always a day or two away from being slop. Second, they are the 2 markets on the island where half the items don't have prices. And lastly there is no fish variety that is locally sourced. I thought we were on an island! Do your self a favor before going to ST JOHN shop on ST THOMAS they have better quality and everything is priced. read more

Came to check out this market after the horrible experience at Starfish Market. I'm glad we did! The girl at the checkout was very friendly and courteous. And as we were going back to the meat section, there was another girl mopping the floor who was also friendly. She stopped mopping and told us to go ahead down the aisle with a smile on her face. It was a complete 180 from the stank eye we got from rude ass employees at Starfish Market. The prices are what they are, high because of the island situation. We stayed at the Westin Villas and had our groceries pre-delivered to our room because we didn't know this market was so close. Groceries on St. John are expensive, but the prices are pretty reasonable here. Their produce looked fresh and they had a good selection. They also have hot food prepared in their deli section. The fried chicken and mac and cheese are awesome. It's way cheaper than ordering at the Snorkels at the hotel, plus the food is better. We spent $20 on 2 entrees with a side and we were stuffed! Stayed at the Westin and shopped here daily. Saved a ton of cash. The deli has really good food. Fried and bbq chicken was good. Mac and cheese was good. We bascially hit this place daily on our way to the beaches. We ate lunch today for $18 for 2 adults and 2 kids which included mac and cheese, chicken and rice. $18 will buy you one poolside burger at the Westin. We're staying at the Westin villas and are time share veterans. So we brought our meats, cheeses, condiments etc. with us. We went to this grocery in search of those items that don't travel well: produce, dairy, etc. While the grocery store is very clean and neat, it didn't fully meet our needs. The selection of produce was quite limited. While we were able to find things like tomatoes and onions, there were no berries, watermelon, etc. If you want arugula or blueberries you are out of luck. And in looking for skim milk we had to settle for a lactose intolerant version as they didn't seem to carry a "regular" version. That being said, if you come here with nothing, your basic needs will be well met. They have a good selection of juices, breads, meats, cheeses, cereals, condiments, etc. So overall, good job for an island grocery store. Again, it was very clean and neat which is much appreciated! Also, the staff was pleasant and helpful. We just were looking for more in the way of fresh / perishable items and were a bit disappointed. read more

This market has come such a long way! This year it is filled with every type of cheese you can possibly think of! To the point where I don't know how many customers they must have to be able to stock so much. European butters, truffle oils, assorted deli meats. This market is the closest to the Westin, you do not need a car to come here. There is a vast array of alcohol, wine and soft drinks to choose from. But my favorite part is that they are vegan and gluten-free friendly, and I mean SUPER friendly! Some items are very pricey but this is an island and everything is imported, I would say the prices are fair enough that you do not need to bother price shopping at the other markets and/or buying food on St. Thomas. read more

The best thing about this market is its location: a few minutes from The Westin. Please note that Google Maps does a poor job navigating you to this place. It is located towards town from the Westin in Greenleaf Plaza. If you get a "shoppers card" from the Westin concierge, you get 15% off most of the store's products. This is NOT the same place as The Marketplace! There seems to be a lot of confusion here and on TripAdvisor. All that being said, this store has many normal items and it clean. The produce is supposedly local (and some organic). We honestly weren't impressed with any of it but made due with some for our villa. More variety is provided in Starfish (which is in The Marketplace) especially for special diets but that will require a car or taxi to safely navigate from the Westin. Prices are comparable between the stores (minus taxi prices) but no discount at Starfish unless you purchase more than $100. read more

In comparison to the Starfish Market, this place kicks its butt in value and healthy options, there are more healthier/natural options. Alcohol is sold in the store itself, yay! And the lady that consistently begs for $ outside of the other market doesn't seem to be at this store harassing people. Maybe their chilled display was broken, but was disappointed they didn't have any fish in the fish case. Fresh fish in the fish case would have gotten you 5 stars, as that was what we came to the market originally hoping to purchase! St. John Market was always my one stop shop for groceries. Its your average market, nothing special. A friend of mine told me about Starfish Market and told me to try it out on my next visit. Well I did! They are fantastic there! Great product selection, friendly staff, and you can even place an order online for pick up or delivery! They are conveniently located in the Marketplace and even carry specialty gourmet foods, wines, beers and other spirits. I'll never go anywhere else. Check them out! read more
