Having tried out a number of takeaways around our new office in Marylebone, I'm quite comfortable stating that Food Filosophy ranks toward the top of my list of affordable eateries for a grab-and-go lunch in the area. I've only had their 'meat + three salads' option, but it's reasonably priced at around ~£6 and is plenty of food. The great thing about every dish is that they're fresh and absolutely bursting with flavour. You know... as opposed to a certain other place I recently wrote about (ahem, The Natural Kitchen). Favourites so far include the parsley salad, spinach and rice, and the chicken with vegetables. Beyond the one plus three combination, they have sandwiches, sweets, and cakes to purchase for dine in or takeaway. Then there's a whole back wall of Food Filosophy-branded olive oil. Books adorn the shelves written in... some foreign language in an alphabet I don't recognise - Greek? Rounding out the experience are the friendly and efficient staff. For being stuck in soulless Marylebone, this independent with an eye toward service and simple, solid fare is doing right in my book! read more

Have I mentioned that I'm angry at Marylebone for not offering any good indy-lunch places? Well, food philosophy...erm...food filosophy seems to be the proverbial exception to the rule. This Greek café with a twist offers great lunch options, such as 1 meat option and 3 side salads for £5.95 (take-away). I really like their meatballs and the chickpea salad goes really well with it. In typical Marylebone fashion, the portions are not the most generous ones, but given that this is one of London's look-at-me-I-am-rich-thin-and-beautiful areas, the portions need to be small... They also have a nice communal table and it's fun to sit down there and actually participate in the game of the locals... read more

Found myself in Marleybone running errands and wanted a healthy spot for lunch. This was an excellent choice-great fresh food (Greek salads/mezzes) and nice servers. You order from a counter and take a seat or wait for one to open up. We had water but I did notice a couple enjoying a bottle of red wine. Lunch for two with a lemon pie to split was £23. Pretty awesome! I like their food philosophy!! read more

Been here a couple times and both had very good salad selection and great to get a good balanced plate. I think the drinks selection could be more exciting but it's not terrible. I love it as a good work lunch place to go with healthy food at reasonable prices. read more

Seriously, it must take so much more effort to be nasty than nice. Went to get takeaway lunch. When it came to my turn asked the server what the salads were (pointing to this and that one) and was met with a huff and a "this one?". When I said, "sorry, no, I cannot choose until I know what they are" she sighed, gave me a withering look and repeated, "which ones do you want?". Not wanting to to hold the queue I just randomly picked three salads. When I went to pay the lady behind the register THREW my credit card down on the counter (she was processing somone else's card in the machine) -- was the act of aggression really necessary!? Then when I politely asked if I could have some cutlery she looked at me as if I had just asked her if I could kill her puppy and pointed to the cabinet behind me. I'd also like to point out that since Dave S. wrote his review a mere nine months ago the prices have been jacked up 14% -- that's five times inflation, people! -- the takeaway 'special' now costs £6.75. And unlike perhaps in 2012, the portions are pretty small (although this might be server-dependent). No doubt the food is good (if pricey now) but, really, if you're gonna be in the service industry how hard it is to just ... be ... nice!? read more

Went here for the first time in about 3 - 4 months, after meaning to, but putting it off. Wow, was I wrong to do that, this place is amazing. The food is made on site, laid out very nicely, and it all looks really really good, I only had meatballs and pasta though. It wasn't horribly cheap, but it was good and filling, certainly not unhealthy, meaning good for me, as I am trying to diet. The only gripe I have with this place, it's all cooked on site, but it's left out on nice trays and stands, but it gets cold, especially in winter. But to fix this problem somewhat, they just heat it up in the microwave, was a bit of a let down there. But still worth a go. read more

Food Filosophy is a great spot for those looking for a semi-healthy and very filling lunch in Marylebone. The food is a mix of Greek and Mediterranean specialities in a cosy cafe setting. Food Filosophy offers a takeaway lunch special for £5.95 which includes one meat main (usually chicken or poached salmon is on the menu) and 3, yes 3 ginormous sides from the extensive salad/pasta bar. There are usually 20 or so to choose from, everything from a tomato and fennel salad, to green beans, to orzo pasta with Chicken. Everything is freshly made that day. This healthy alternative to the fast food options most convenient in Marylebone is also very tasty. Visiting the shop feels a little bit like having dinner family style - the large platters of food that greet you when you walk in the shop look ready for group consumption. I recommend the salmon, Greek salad and bean dish, but you have the advantage of what-you-see-is-what-you-get when ordering at Food Filosophy so you should definitely partake in whatever looks most delicious! They also sell a variety of decent looking packaged food so if you randomly need some gourmet ingredients for dinner you might also consider checking here. read more

Not sure it gets better than this. Starts with casual atmosphere both individual and large group tables. Also outside seating in good weather. The folks who work here could not be friendlier. The coffee is excellent and we had a great breakfast of scrambled eggs on toast. Many yummy things to choose from. We are staying nearby and have gone there three mornings in a row. read more

Have I not reviewed this place already?? Tucked a very short walk off Baker Street and just before you get to the luxury sports car garage (only ever has 1 car in it), Food Filosophy is a little gem of a food place in this area. A long counter with home cooked foods, all quite healthy by my standards, and you can get a main dish and three accompanying salads for about 8 pounds. Popular choices include roast chicken, meatballs, lasagne made from pene pasta, salmon...who am I kidding, I love it all! Is difficult to find a table to eat though. They have a huge table that you are meant to share and get cosy with strangers on, but people being people means that there are always awkward spaces between groups. Oh, and last time we came, at a busy lunch time, the staff had papers, invoices and other stuff strewn across the table stopping customers sitting down...please don't do that again guys, was quite rude and surely you have another place to do that, or maybe a time when there are less people trying to have lunch? read more

Serving fresh healthy food. Clearly a popular place. We came here on a Friday afternoon around 1:30 to grab some lunch but a lot of the selection was finished. The venue itself it bright and airy with seating area not to crammed together. Food is laid out for you to see and decide on the various selections of mainly vegetarian fair. There was meatballs (or a meatball by the time I got there) and chicken to add to all that veg and pasta. We went for the salads where you are able to mix and match a selection of raw and cooked vegetables and pasta. The portion sizes were good enough for me and I had to stop them from adding more. Serving staff were friendly and helpful in explaining what you could select from and how it worked. Reasonable amount of seating available inside and outside. On the price rating it will mark this as cheap however, I thought the pricing was average to high for a lunch. read more

Three stars - a solid, very healthy lunch place to which I expect to return. Closer to 4 stars than 2 stars. I was visiting from San Francisco and had lunch at Food Filosophy with a friend who asked what I wanted and said "Anything, as long as there is something healthy on the menu". In SF, we're spoiled with fantastic produce / vegetables which are on almost all menus. Finding healthy alternatives has been a bit more challenging in London so I was enthusiastic when I walked into Food Filosophy and saw the spread. First, it's rather inviting. Almost spread out like a holiday meal in someone's home. There are many healthy choices - a few proteins and many salad/side options. I got the spanakopita (sp?) which was a very generous portion (and I eat a lot:) and then I had beets as a side salad. The spanakopita was filling and a bit cheesy with the spinach. And the beets were tasty. There were 5-7 more options for salads, all of which looked good. My lunch partner had salmon with a few sides. We ate outside which was nice as well. The two women serving us were both very nice and welcoming. Three stars instead of four because a) it was a bit pricy for the spartan environment and b) I don't think "healthy" on its own warrants four stars. But I will return before head back to SF. Unless I find a several other really healthy options close by. read more

Freshly made food. Really helpful staff. Other then the standard "meat + sides" option, there is a variety of sandwiches, soups, and deserts on offer. Best thing about this place is whether you eat in or do take out the prices are SO affordable. Now THAT is saying something considering this is London. Will definitely come again especially as its in the area I'm in every Saturday morning. read more

Stay away from this place, sadly it's run by exceptionally rude staff who don't mind shouting at customers if something doesn't go their way. It was all going alright - I asked if I can half the main so I can have meatballs and chicken but in smaller portions to what the lady serving at the counter said yes. Once at the till though, the manager angrily pointed out that I (!) should be aware that they don't half the portions and what on earth was I thinking to ask for such non-sense. Grabbing the plate off me, she ordered to take a new plate and sent me back to the end of the queue to start all over again. I should have just left at that moment but who knew that a minute later it would turn even nastier. The lady serving me got some guidance in her native language from the manager but she then tries to serve me half and half again (!) Amused, I tried to explain what manager was banging on about a minute ago but all of a sudden that so-called manager jumps out of nowhere and starts shouting at me for "trying to make the same order"?! She then declared to everyone's surprise that I was upsetting her and shall leave the café immediately. To tell the customers off for not "understanding" the rules in spite of wrong guidance from staff and on top of everything asking to leave to presumably "look cool" in front of other customers in line - is way out of order. Maybe works in Greece but not in London. Won't be spending a penny there until they replace their staff and already warned my whole office to stay away. Shame given that their food is actually a decent lunch material. read more

I visited this establishment based on Yelp! reviews promising delicious cheap healthy food in generous portions to quell any appetite. What I found was overpriced meager portions of food that contained more of the garden than I prefer to eat -- namely, grit and dirt. Or at least, that is the most charitable assumption I can make, because it might have been small bits of glass. I had originally planned to eat in, as it was raining outside, but even though the dish was a hot takeaway and should be subject to VAT whether eat in or takeaway, the takeaway was cheaper. I ended up eating the food at a bus stop, which certainly didn't help to leave a good taste in my mouth. Having read another review that mentioned the portion size has shrunk, I was already wary. I had the meatballs for my "meat" part of the £6.something 1 meat and 3 salad combo, and after the first salad was served out, I knew I was going to be hungry. I asked for the heartiest looking two remaining salads (a bean salad and a lentil salad) and took my sad looking lunch to go. The meatballs had a terrible texture, like they had used chewy parts of the animal that weren't supposed to actually go in the meatball and were more aptly considered meat byproducts. Tendon and gristle and the like. The two bean salads were fine, with the lentil being the more delicious of the two, but certainly not interesting or something you should go out of your way to try. Then came the parsley and tomato salad, which was filled with grit and dirt. At first I thought I was being paranoid, but I then had a sickening feeling in my stomach as a very clearly bit down on a piece of hard rock/glass/please don't even tell me what it was. I tossed the rest. Service was relatively friendly, if not generous when serving, and the restaurant itself looked lovely to eat inside, but nothing makes up for gritty food really. Luckily, it wasn't at all filling, so I could afford to try another Yelp! recommendation instead. read more

I have been there sooo many times, since the selection of Greek food is amazing and the portions huge all the ingredients were pure and healthy, which is something that really counts on me! The staff was very helpful and smiley all the time, they made me feel like home. I'm visiting this place everyday since my work is near and even the weekends for a cup of coffee and some cake.I think I will keep doing this for a long time. I highly recommend it !!! read more
