You can't go wrong with coming to this all-in-one-deli. It's one of my favorite spots in the Englewood/Fort Lee area to enjoy a healthy post-workout meal. It's a no-frills spot, so not too much of an ambiance. There's a good amount of seating inside and a small parking lot right up front. The menu is very extensive and you can satisfy a lot of different cravings. Sandwiches, wraps, salads, poke bowls, sushi, bento boxes, bagels, omelettes, smoothies, protein shakes - endless options! I've been coming here for the past few years and everything is made to order. Flavorful and fresh ingredients at affordable prices. You can't beat that! Service is always friendly and the food comes out in a reasonable amount of time. On my most recent visit I ordered: *Open Field Panini $13 - Included sliced steak, grated parmesan, lettuce, and sliced tomato topped with garlic infused extra virgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. YUMMMM. The panini bread was crispy and toasted, adding that crunch factor. They gave me a generous portion of tender steak. The garlic olive oil and balsamic vinegar were the perfect touches! They really went well with the rest of the ingredients and added a savory and zesty zing with every bite. *Blueberry & Chia Seed Smoothie $8 - Included blueberries, banana, chia seeds, and almond milk. Smooth and creamy with the right balance of sweet and tart flavors! The chia seeds added an extra boost of fiber. This is a clean, breakfast and lunch spot that serves up healthy, nutritious breakfast and lunch sandwiches, paninis, salads. And they have a great sushi station. Very good quality and the chef is friendly and an expert in his trade. They make delicious smoothies. The owner who makes s also the cashier is pretty nice and the guys at the grill are always kind and provide service with a smile. I go here for lunch regularly and love their extensive menu. You can get anything from a breakfast sandwich to a poke bowl. I can usually find exactly what I'm craving here. The prices are reasonable and the food quality is great. Their food is healthy and tasty at the same time. They also provide friendly and quick service. My clients picked this spot for lunch. I called in my order of the shrimp shumai and the salmon bento box. When I arrived I parked in their lot. I walked into a busy house. I told the lady I was there for pick-up and the food was ready. I paid and left. I took my food home and ate when I got in. Been to this location many times. Usually good food and good service. We called in to order a roll platter (6 basic rolls and 2 premium rolls) for $80. I was told that the cost was going to be $90+ since the rolls we wanted were the more expensive rolls (even though we chose 6 rolls from the basic roll menu and 2 premium rolls). Had we ordered on-line, the rolls would have been $85 (after tax). When I came to pick up the order, I spoke with management who told me that this is normal and that paying $90 was less than they would normally charge me. When I explained that it was less just ordering online, they said if you don't want it, don't buy it. Since I had to feed the kids, I just paid the extra, but i hope they enjoy the extra cash since it is the last time we'll be spending any more money at this location. read more

Went for Lunch Food - 3/5. The food for life special sandwich sounded really good on paper but it was pretty disappointing when received. The sandwich felt hard and dry overall and I think it mostly had to do with the meager amount of filling. Chicken was very thin resulting in a hard exterior and dry interior and the crunch I expected from the apples were non-existent due to there only being one layer of paper-thin apples slices. Not a good sandwich. Service - 4/5. The place was packed but the service was quick with processing orders and delivery of the food. Value - 2/5. As expected of the area, the prices are on the higher end. Prices should match the value of what you are getting and $6.50 for a small, disappointing sandwich is just not worth it. It's a fairly large sandwich and at $4.95 it is cheaper than the sandwiches at my work cafeteria! I always head here for lunch when I'm at my internship down the street and it's a good choice on my part! Food for Life is the ultimate deli/sandwich shop in my opinion. A lot of choices, quick service, AND all of the ingredients are fresh. I always get the Light Delight which comes with Turkey, Swiss Grilled Vegetables, and Honey Mustard. I always have mine on a 7 Grain sandwich because I like feeling good about myself but they offer other choices with white or whole grain bread. The sandwich itself is warmed and it tastes perfect. Sweet, savory, crunchy and healthy. I still need to try the sushi bar in the corner that the place because even that looks fresh (and fairly priced)! With a crew of about 10 people in the kitchen, the place gets its food out ASAP. Food for Life puts other places like Panera to shame. read more

I would say the food is definitely very good, but as others have pointed out, it is a bit pricey. I work very close by so it's very convenient. The sandwiches and Udon are tasty. My biggest gripe is their requirement of a $10 minimum for credit cards. While I respect their right to do this, I find it annoying since I carry very little cash! My co-worker lives and dies by this place... ever since he was hooked on "Orange Roll" which is like california roll wrapped with salmon sashimi... he orders this with 2 additional salmon sashimi and a shot of wheat grass... oh wow.. talk about health nut... It is a deli.. truly just a deli that is over-priced... I am not sure what the big deal is with this place... the cashiers always look like they are running a 50K marathon screaming and yelling at each other as if this was some happening place in NYC... The food here is really good (at both locations, one in Fort Lee the other in Englewood Cliffs). You can tell that the ingredients are fresh and of good quality. Their sandwiches, wraps, juices, and sushi are all really good and very well-made. The only thing is that the food is on the pricier side. OK, so overall the food isn't expensive (I'm giving it a $ since pricing is relative, I guess), but it's overpriced for deli food. And the sandwiches/wraps are pretty small so I'm always left still feeling a little hungry. For the sake of full disclosure, I will say that one time my dad got fruit here that was rotten and they were very hesitant to take it back, which is dumb. At my mother's behest I decided to check out this health-conscious deli run by koreans in englewood cliffs. You walk in and it's a deli, that's really it, but the prices are gourmet cafe prices and I mean, $8.00 for a grilled veggie sandwich. Now, as for the grilled vegetable sandwich I ordered. Keep in mind I did not walk into this establishment with high expectations, albeit with a bit of skepticism. The grilled sandwich was advertised on the menu as including "fresh" mozzarella and balsamic vinagrette. Neither was included. We were charged the full $8.00 or so and when my mother brought the sandwich back to the counter to point out that it was missing the advertised ingredients, the genius at the counter advised her she would have to pay an extra dollar. I understand if you've only opened your restaurant recently (been over a year) and you are not that familiar with your own store's menu. But don't LIE to your customer and tell her she needs to pay an extra $1.00 for an ingredient already included in the overpriced grilled veggie sandwich. Don't advertise it as a "CHEF'S CHOICE" if you 1.) don't know how to make it right; 2.) forget the key ingredients that would bring the flavors together (and is also part of the price); and 3.) stick a cold slice of raw tomato in there and think you have yourself a masterpiece. What do you expect from a "health-conscious, health friendly" DELI (not restaurant) run by koreans? I tell the owners they should just stick to cheap korean fare, and don't pretend they know a thing about 1.) healthy american gourmet sandwich-making, and 2.) making and keeping satisfied customers. As for health-conscious and savvy customers who are on the fence about visiting this establishment, I say spend your money elsewhere. I recommend TASTEatery in Fort Lee located on 1224 Anderson Avenue, Fort Lee, NJ 07024. They have never LIED to their customers, they have outdoor seating, and their food is legitimately organic and well-made and the price is reasonable.
