Unfortunately, this shop was sold to a new owner a few years ago and now there is no selection;…read moreevery time I have asked about a book I have been told I could order it online. There is such a small selection, no unique gifts, no warm and cozy environment. This used to be a favorite, but I can no longer recommend.

Visited the Tribune (I still call it Books n' Things) today with my sister and had such an…read moreenjoyable experience. Not only is this book store well lit, well organized, and overflowing with beautiful items, but the customer service is out of this world. We entered the store in hopes of finding a gift for our good friends daughter who is turning one in the following days and were overwhelmed with beautiful books to pick from. In addition to the lovely books were adorable toys, puzzles, and clothing options for any little one in your life. (I may have bought my daughter a few things while in the store too.) I saw an adorable little wooden train toy in the play area of the store and brought it up to the front desk in hopes she could help me find another one just like it-- there were no other trains sets in the store but she allowed me to buy the one from the store! I love supporting local businesses and this is one to get behind. Perfect for a gift for any book lover or any person who loves durable, quality, Maine based items. I am excited to make the Tribune my regular book store after moving back to Maine after living in Nevada for the last 5 years. Cant forget to mention there is also an upstairs to the store that I was told has beautiful clothing items. (Unfortunately I ran out of time today and did not get to browse around upstairs.) Be sure to visit the Tribune for any of your book/gift needs-- support local business!

I didn't even make it ten feet into the store before I already had an armful of books (three I had…read morenever heard of including a sequel to a book I really loved, how exciting is that?!)! The first two shelves when you walk in are the "Best of the Year" (which is front and center) and (on the right hand wall) the "Staff/Locals Recommendation" - how cool is it that they promote recs from their regulars?! They've done such a good job putting short descriptions under each book for customers to quickly peruse! But I don't think quick is the pace here anyway; it seems very much like you can, at your leisure look at, pick-up, and thumb through as many books as you want. I don't get the sense of urgency here at all, which is lovely. What would make it MORE lovely, though, is some seating options (though I did see a couple folks sitting right in the middle of the aisle like it was no big deal). There are an overwhelming amount of knick-knacks and trinkets and random souvenirs... I wish they'd scale that back to add a couple benches or armchairs. This is one of those places you WANT to sign up for their rewards program: you just need to give them your name and phone number and for every $200 you spent you get $10 a credit!

Today was the first time my wife and I have visited this particular location and we agreed it has been one of the nicest we have visited. Quite a large space with all the genres you would expect with plenty of classics while also having the new hyped releases as well. Another huge plus was how many sections of heavily discounted books they had. Could spend a long time browsing and finding great sales. Besides books they also have other offerings including many Maine themed goodies, Lego sets, socks, and more. Staff was friendly and greeted us with a smile and while we didn't need assistance we noticed they helped other customers with questions and made it a very welcoming environment! Book lovers nearby or visiting this is a must check out spot!

I love this place! So many books, quirky items, kids items, games, puzzles, trinkets, gifts,…read moresouvenirs and so much more. But, definitely a place to get a good book. It may take you a little time to look around. Pricing is reasonable. Customer service is great. Always has been for over 10 years. The location is convenient. They are near LLBean we normally park in that area and walk around. Do not skip this shop

I would say that both my wife and I agree to this particular location not being the best of Sherman's. Despite that if you are in the area and looking to support a local Maine bookstore it is a solid enough option. Firstly I will say all the staff we encountered were friendly, the first offering to move out of the way if we wanted to look at books close to where she was at. A second nicely asked us if we needed any assistance and lastly the staff who checked us out was friendly as well. Space wise I think it is lacking compared to some of the other Sherman's locations. Some of the areas felt a little too crowded. They do have everything you would expect from a Sherman's, new and popular books along with classics and hidden gems of every genre. Also stationary, stuffed animals, kids toys, gifts, souvenirs, and more. Prices seemed about the same as other locations and they do have their vast on-sale sections to secure good book deals. I would say if this is the first and only Sherman's you have visited do yourself a favor and check other ones out before fully judging the chain overall.
