We were there the Saturday of the Oyster Festival in 2026 - so I know there were a lot of people in the area. They have to manage with all walks of life and they do not seem flappable. They were present and helpful as needed. Some seemed to avoid customers, I'm guessing they were focused on cleaning and organizing. This store is one of the best Island Treasure locations I have been to. There's an upstairs AND a downstairs. They had some great sales the day we went. One part of the store the kids really enjoyed was the book/library section in the back - which was great for them to sit and read a book in quiet and pick out a book they wanted to buy. We picked up some fun things for the kids - Legos of course was one of them. Great value, especially if you sign up for the loyalty point program. Prices were competitive and they had some great sales happening, which combined with points...just makes for an excellent deal. If the area, I will definitely stop by again.

There…read morewere train displays on the first floor that were not running, but no one around to speak with about them. Lots of people were busy setting up for a fund raiser dinner. But the real action was going on downstairs anyway. Once we went down stairs we were greeted and shown around the running displays. Very impressed with the obvious skill and dedication of the model builders. I'm more into the "toy train" look rather than realism, but even so it was VERY impressive. We were told if we become members we can take operator lessons and then are allowed to bring your own trains in and run them on the clubs model lines. That sounds like a lot of fun! One important thing: GFMRC has several different scale models to run your trains on, though the focus is definitely on HO. I saw only one elaborate set-up for O scale "three railers" which is my preferred size.

There is not too much to say about this location other than it can be a bit overwhelming with so…read moremuch stuff down each aisle. Sometimes it feels like a mad dash as people are trying to get their supplies and they will cut right in front of you without excusing themselves. This is by no means the fault of the business, so I don't take stars off for a customer's observed behavior. Staff is friendly and willing to go the extra mile if you wanted something they didn't have in stock, but they were able to find online. Sometimes a bit too long at the register as others are waiting to be helped. This one cashier kept pushing the customer to allow them to order the item she really wanted online and have it delivered to her home. She would say "I can wait, it's no problem", yet the cashier and Manager would not accept the answer. I get a sale is a sale, but you don't want to lose the guaranteed sales standing in your line either. That's my only complaint about this location.
