It's like out of book or something.

This place is my exact kind of vibe. It's small and eclectic. It smells like Heaven as soon as you walk in. I got a savory tart that I brought home and heated up. It was soo good. I wish they were open earlier so I could pop in right after dropping the kids off at school.

Sweet aroma matching the palate emanates from this local pastry shop! At this visit I tried the pumpkin muffin, apple stroudle...chocolate cookie for later. The muffin is very good. Great taste of the pumpkin with just enough sugary coat on top. And moist. Apple stroudle has a great natural sweetness of the apples. Well done. Seating is available indoors and just a few outdoors. Very friendly staff!!

I have always loved this spot. Pre-pandemic I would go every Friday after work on my way home to get treats for the whole family and it was so fun to pick things out and the gals that worked the counter were THE BEST. The hours are harder now than pre-Covid, but we got to go the other day and it is just as delusions. The folks behind the counter were new, but super sweet and helpful. Honestly, how could anyone be grumpy in a bakery?! My kids each had a pepperoni roll and there were fresh and delicious and then we got an assortment. The younger kid housed the Apple strudel and immediately asked if we could get another one, ha! I have never been disappointed there and love their savory treats just as much as the sweet ones. It's a treasure.

Needed a cake make on very short notice. The folks at Food Glorious Food were able to do an amazing job putting this cake together. The cake itself was great from the taste of frosting to texture. The pictured cake is vanilla with raspberry filling.

Gotta admit this is one of my favorite bakeries in Pittsburgh. Located right in the heart of Highland Park, this bakery is easily accessible by bus, car, or on foot. You can smell the delicious baked goods before you even walk in, making your taste buds dance right away. I've been there a few times now and they have varying baked goods, but a lot consistent ones also. The first time I went I got the cannoli, lemon bar, and a buckeye to split with some friends Oh my they were DELICIOUS!! Next time I went I got a cinnamon roll because I herd they were legendary....and they so were! I studied for the first time in there a few weeks ago and it was okay. It got pretty loud since it's a small sitting area. But, I'll still go back!

The white lilly cake is an absolute dream it is so light and refreshing. Not too sweet. A perfect cake, in my opinion. I also grabbed a pepperoni roll and a potato tart while I was there to pick up the cake. Sooooo good! Service was excellent and everyone was very friendly. Highly recommend!

Can we just all bask in the beautiful of this creation? A chocolate tulip - with chocolate ganache, strawberries, and whipped cream. But the surprise?Chocolate cake at the bottom! Bravo, FGF. Besides this stunner, please do yourself a favor and get a ham sandwich. You won't be disappointed.

White lily cake layers on top with a carrot cake bottom. Naked cake with a crumb coat of whipped cream icing. Tasty AND lovely!!

After having had Food Glorious Food cake at someone else's wedding, I knew this cake would be showing up at our wedding. The cake was fantastic - the white lily cake layers and the carrot cake. The team made up a fantastic naked cake with a light crumb coat of whipped cream icing and enough sheet cakes for the entire lot of 100 guests. They even improvised a little botanical cake topper and acquired greens separately for decorating. It was really, really lovely. And absolutely delicious as well. Man, was it tasty. Wedding reviews will tell you that communication with FGF can be a bit unpredictable, and that was true in our case as well. But just like all the other reviews, everything also went off flawlessly in the end. Thank you, Tom & team!

I visited Food Glorious Food the Sat. before last at around 10:30am. I was waiting to be seated for brunch at E2 next door with some friends, and one of them suggested that we swing by the bakery next door. This reminded me that that bakery was Food Glorious Food, which I'd been meaning to check out for a long while, so I eagerly agreed and we headed next door. Having read the previous Yelp reviews, I knew that the cinnamon roll was a popular item. Give that I'm always on the hunt for good cinnamon rolls--of which there seem to be precious few in PGH--I got one of them ($2) as well as a chocolate chip cookie ($2), which the guy working the counter told me was another popular seller. I had the cinnamon roll later that day, and it was pretty good, although not the best I've had in PGH. It had a decent amount of both cinnamon and icing, and the dough was soft and pliable. I tried the cookie the next day, and it was quite delicious--possibly the best one I've had to date in PGH. It was a decent size and has a decent balance between crispness and softness. Most importantly, however, it had copious chocolate chips that melted in my mouth, which (for me) is an essential component of a legit chocolate chip cookie. Based on the goods I sampled, I'd rank Food Glorious Food within the upper quartile of PGH bakeries. Unfortunately, I'm leaving PGH soon, but if I wasn't, I'd definitely love to stop by again to sample their key lime pie, as I'm a big fan of that dessert. 4.5 stars.

Every so often, I hear rumblings about how great this bakery is. Highland Park is a bit out of my way, but after leaving the zoo, it seemed like the perfect time to test this place out. My friend and I came in around 3:30 on a Saturday, and they had clearly been busy all day. There really was not much left. I ordered a cheesecake brownie ($2), and she got two key-lime macarons ($2.25). We both enjoyed our desserts, and while they were far above average, they were not THE best. However, the people in Highland Park are spoiled because they were quite good. I suspect you need to get here at opening to try the popular items. The store front is cute if you want to eat in, and there is one bench outside. Additionally, they appear to accept credit! Not sure if there was a minimum.

"Food, glorious food! Don't care what it looks like...Just thinking of growing fat.." sings Oliver from the musical. Yep you got it. They named this place after this song. Stopped over here after lunch to grab a dessert. Most of the desserts I have seen before but they had a few different ones for me to try. They are a bakery but they only sell desserts, wedding cakes, and various quiches. I purchased a spinach and mushroom quiche to take home with me for my next day's lunch. It must have been popular-it smelled so good when I got it home. Can't wait to taste it! I'm sure I'm going to love it. They had small whole pies along with what they call a great chocolate chip cookie. I bought that for my daughter and got a nice slice of apple streusel. The crust on that thing was flaky and soft. They do give you generous portions for the price you pay. They do offer a nice assortment of desserts. I decided to try something a little different while I was there which was called a signature white lily cake. I later learned they use this same batter for wedding cakes. I had it and found that it was not too rich but light enough for me to enjoy after a heavy meal. They have a small sitting area in front if you wish to eat it there. Some of the desserts require refrigeration. Others don't but make sure you wrap them if you intend to eat them later. Since I had arrived later in the day the breakfast pastries were gone but I'm sure if I return at an earlier time of day they would be worth a try. Street parking is available. This place is off the beaten path but well worth the visit. "Why should we be fated to brood on ... beautiful, magical, food, glorious, food!" Beats gruel any day!

This shop is part of a larger chain but currently appears to be the only location in the Pittsburgh area. It's located in East Liberty and is really more of a bakery than a coffee shop. The inside is split about 50/50, with half dedicated to seating and the other half serving as a self-serve bakery. You grab a tray and tongs before walking around selecting whichever baked goods catch your eye. They also have display cases filled with cakes and other pastries that need to be kept refrigerated. For my coffee on this morning I went with a 16 oz hot honey lavender macchiato while my wife chose a 16 oz iced tiramisu latte. I have to admit that the name of my drink confused me a bit at first, but it ended up being a latte macchiato as expected. With that being said, I thought it was quite good. The lavender was light enough to be noticeable without overpowering the drink, while the honey added just the right amount of sweetness. The espresso was also present, especially on the finish, where it added both flavor and body. My wife also enjoyed her latte and appreciated the tiramisu flavors throughout. Outside of the coffee, we ordered a number of pastries. My wife chose the Crookie, which is a cookie baked on top of a croissant. My son picked out a chocolate-covered Belgian waffle, while my daughter chose the strawberry soft bread. All of them enjoyed what they ordered, and I think my wife especially loved the Crookie. As for me, I went a little overboard and chose a garlic and cheese croissant, a curry croquette, pork-dusted bread, and a sweet taro cream bread. All of them were delicious in their own way. The garlic and cheese croissant was a nice savory option, with plenty of garlic flavor and a crispy cheese crust. The curry croquette had wonderful warming spices that made it especially flavorful. The pork-dusted bread was definitely the most unusual item. The pork topping reminded me of Wild Bill's Beef Jerky, and somehow those savory flavors worked really well on top of the crunchy laminated bread. Last but certainly not least was the taro cream bread. I was impressed by how light it felt despite being packed with an impressive amount of cream filling. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. I'm a sucker for bakeries like this and clearly ordered far more than my waistline needed, but everything I tried was enjoyable. While the coffee was good, the pastries are the real reason to visit, with the coffee serving as an excellent complement.
