The lemon one had a super tart and strong lemon flavor and the chocolate one was super rich and had a little crunch on the inside. The blueberry one was not as good since the flavor was not as strong. The pumpkin one was okay, I think these really depend on what flavors you like. I've also had the macaroons here and they were really good. The staff was super nice and helpful with answering our questions. They were out of the raspberry one but she was telling us we could order ahead and save one for us to pick up next time. This is a place to check out if you're into sweets! The atmosphere is cozy and it has a nice seating area to enjoy your pastries or coffee. You can even order some of your favorite desserts as a full size cake to order! This place might be solid, but I placed an order on Uber Eats for a ham and cheese croissant, and they sent it cold, and when you are staying in a hotel and don't have anywhere to warm it up that becomes absolutely irrelevant to order via Uber eats and pay all of those fees to not be able to enjoy it... Just a reminder to this business that people ordering on Uber eats are generally ordering something to eat right then and there so heating it would make the most sense otherwise you should have an option during the ordering process on Uber Eats where the customer has to select heated or Unheated. In the end, it was just a waste of money, and I threw it out so I'm sharing the disappointment and hopes they can improve their practices. read more

Local French bakery. They sell macarons, pastries and cakes. They have a good variety. The employee was prompt and courteous. The desserts are so beautifully created. The details and the effort can be seen in how they decorate them and layer it with interesting flavors. I got few macarons and pastries. They were really good. I'd love to try the others as well I did find it to be a little pricey. Parking can be a challenge in the area but I did get lucky with it. read more

Love their sweets! Always a solid place to get good quality macarons with a decent price. They have great chewy cookies and they have seasonal flavors which are nice too. Our family is addicted to macarons!! This is largely in part to this establishments incredible ability to produce some of the most delicious ones we've ever had. The staff at this location is always super friendly, and very helpful when making selections. The different flavors are all very well balanced, and make for a very nice gift or treat for yourself. This location is also super convenient to several restaurants, and you can pick up dessert on your way home from getting your take-out order. The owners I've been in Pittsburgh for quite some time, and have always promoted French cuisine, which I believe is very well witnessed in the high quality of their macarons. I visited Gaby Et Jules in East Liberty for the first time with my wife on a Saturday afternoon on a whim while on our way to the Milkshake Factory (the milkshake was lunch, and Gaby's pastries were an evening snack...). The shop itself is extremely polished and clean, and the staff member who assisted us was helpful and friendly. We tried an Opera cake, an almond croissant, a vanilla eclair, and I had a brewed coffee, which ran a little over $21. Overall, everything was good, but not at the level of Pittsburgh stalwarts La Gourmandine or Five Points Artisan Bake Shop. I'd never had an Opera cake before, and found it reminiscent of a tiramisu. It's sponge cake soaked in coffee with layers of chocolate. It was dense and pleasantly sweet. The almond croissant filling was pleasant, but the croissant itself was flat and lacking the exterior crunch or delicate layers of Five Points' almond croissant. For $5.50, I was expecting spectacular, which this was not. The vanilla eclair was packed with a sweet, sugary vanilla filling. I prefer a creamier filling in an eclair, but if you like a lot (and I mean a lot) of sweet filling, this should be up your alley. I have a feeling their chocolate eclair might be better. Lastly, their coffee was solid, reasonably strong at a fair price. I can't speak to their macarons, but if you're in the mood for a good French pastry/dessert and in the neighborhood, Gaby Et Jules is a nice place to visit. read more

Highly recommend the new location of Gaby Et Jules in East Liberty!! The desserts are artistically made and magnificently delicious. Although the options can be overwhelming, you could never make a wrong decision here--everything is so good! I must also commend the fantastic service at this bakery. We got excellent recommendations as we drooled over our options and our treats and coffee were delivered to our tables, which was an incredibly sweet gesture. I got the Paris-Pittsburgh with a small coffee. My dessert was decadent in every way--the mix of the hazelnut and toasted almonds in the form of a puff made every bite heavenly. Near the end, I started getting a sugar rush, but I was able to temper it well with coffee. This is a great shareable treat! I absolutely love this place. I felt very seen and served in this establishment (which is a lot to say in Pittsburgh sometimes!) It's the perfect hangout and short time chill with friends place in East Liberty (the rose macarons and the chocolate croissant are my recommendations!)
