Showed up in the middle of what was one of the worst snowstorms to be greeted with a smile and amazing food. Beef Shawarma wrap was out of this world, Falafel was amazing. Being a Los Angeles native we are lucky with some of the best Mediterranean food in the world, and I can say in confidence that Food Hamati is up there with some of the best spots I've been to. This is the most outstanding Middle Eastern food that I have in Columbus, and I've tried many of them! We started with hummus and falafel which are usually pretty good indicators of how good a Middle Eastern restaurant is. We were not disappointed as both were excellent and very delicious. For lunch we had kefta wraps and fries, which were also phenomenal. The service was great and everyone was very kind and welcoming. Also very helpful and patient with the scannable menu. I ordered online from the Line Skipping website and came to pick up. You can pay online with card or pay when you get there with cash. Not busy inside at all. One woman was in line in front of me waiting for her pickup order. I had ordered the chicken shawarma platter with rice and fries. When I got to the counter, the staff member told me that it already comes with rice and hummus and that I can always substitute if needed. The online ordering didn't say anything about what the platter came with. The food was alright. The rice was good, but the chicken was dry, as other yelpers said. It did come with a sauce on the side which made the chicken taste a lot better. The fries were bland. Not seasoned enough. This is probably the most authentic-tasting shawarma place I could find in the Columbus area so far. It isn't in the best location compared to where I am, otherwise I could eat it routinely. When I first started coming here, the place looked a little rough but they have since made many renovations so they must be doing well. The prices have been creeping up every so often that it is getting to a point where the taste might not be financially worth it. The regular shawarma now is $13 and the shawarma plate is $21. The shawarma plate is a huge portion, however. I didn't take a star away for any of that because I understand inflation is affecting pricing everywhere. I took one star away because, over the several years that I have been coming here, they have NEVER had the food ready within the time frame they gave. I always arrive at the end of the time and still wait at least ten minutes in the store for the food to be ready. One minor note is that they don't always consistently put utensils in the bag so if you really need them make sure you double-check. read more

This place is hidden in the Cranston center across from Home Depot and Sam's Club on Sawmill Rd. We were craving Middle Eastern food, so just placed an order over the phone. We ordered the chicken shawarma platter with rice and tabouleh as the two sides after seeing the menu online. I wish they mentioned that the shawarma platter already comes with rice on the phone. Knowing that, we could've ordered hummus or something else instead of rice as a side. Also, I did not like that the rice has toasted almonds sprinkled over it. I wish they mentioned that as well. Overall, we found the chicken shawarma extremely dry and not very flavorful. We have definitely had better. The tabouleh was not great either. I had ordered the super gyro wrap, which came with fries. The gyro wrap was the single best part of our order. It was flavorful and the lamb and beef gyro meat was nice. It was nice to have the gyro wrap with the shrak bread they offer, instead of the usual pita bread. The fries were not seasoned at all or special in any way. Added salt and pepper to them after getting home. I would definitely not order the platters here for fear of the meat being overly dry, but would have the gyro wrap again. read more

Full disclosure I went to this place a lot for pick up when I first moved to Columbus. Mostly due to convenience and it was the closest halal place to me. The food isn't amazing, but my husband likes the lamb kebobs. I always usually get the chicken shawarma plate; it's become like a staple for me. I noticed their prices have gone up a little too. This seems more popular for takeout. It has a hard to see location from the road. It could explain why no one was there. This is located next to the popular Amul India restaurant, and that's where I was going to when I saw this. Before that I had no idea it was here. I decided to go here the next time. The place is ridiculously small. It has a few tables but it's not much. This seems like more people get takeout. I would be sure if I actually saw any customers. There was no one else in there except the one lady working. I had the falafel. It's about $7 for a combo, and it comes with fries. The falafel wasn't excellent but it was okay. Be sure to bring cash. Excellent Arabic Mediterranean food at Food Hamati! We loved the shawarma! Delicious! It was tender and full of flavor. Their falafel is crunchy on the outside and warm on the inside. The hummus is homemade and so creamy! We enjoyed the homemade bread and some chicken kabobs too. The rice and salad were great sides to the meals. The owner, Ahmed, was very kind. He introduced himself and shared about their food. He was welcoming and approachable. Zaid will greet you at the door with a warm smile and help you make some good dinner choices. I ordered a salad and shawarma at 1:56 they said give them 10 minutes and I've always had trouble with my food being ready on time here and I wanted to give them a last chance because I love arabic food. I came in 25 minutes later and no one greeted me at the counter after about 5 minutes waiting I rang the bell and someone came out and asked what was my order and said they didn't even start making my food and what was my order. So I loved this place. Like, really really REALLY loved this place. But I just had a chicken shawarma wrap that was so gross, I feel sick. It no longer comes with onions and tomato. Instead it was dry chicken. They also replaced the amazing sauce that made it so delicious before with some gross mayo-like sauce. I noticed this change 3 or so months ago too, but then it at least still had some of the yummy flavor and I was at least asked if I wanted the onion & tomato. But not now. This place is awesome. The owner and all restaurant workers are kind, sweet, and welcoming. On top of that, their food is delicious. I learned from the owner that in order to keep everything fresh, he makes everything from scratch including bread. And that shows! I love their chicken shawarma platter and falafel. I was in the Dublin area and looking for some food, when I found this place on yelp. It was hot and new so my friend and I decided to try it out. At first we were a little confused with the set up, but you order first and then pick a table and they bring your food out, and you pay after you eat. Let me tell you right now - everything we had was packed with flavor AND AMAZING!!! I Tried the chicken shawarma and it was perfectly cooked and all the spices were incredible. My friend tried the chicken kabob which was juicy, tender, and full of flavor. "Best shawarma in the country." Superlative language always sets off alarm bells, and unsurprisingly, this was not the best shawarma in the country. Not a terrible meal, but the chicken shawarma was extremely dry, the pita very stale, the rice not saffroned at all, and the portions a little small compared to the website images. The beef kefta was probably the highlight of the meal. Service was proactively friendly, and Zaid was kind enough to swap out the hummus for tabbouleh in my platter. However, he dropped the ball twice: the first time by bringing out hummus, and the second time bringing out baba ghanouj. (cue the MXC music) No offer for water with my meal, and there was no tahini sauce with my takeaway order of 10 falafel, as promised by the website. Accompanied by french fries, with its own secret spice mix of salt, pepper, and chili. We got a few other dishes, too - falafel, eggplant salad, and cauliflower salad. They were all nicely prepared; fresh, good quality ingredients, good execution. But it's the shawarma wrap that stays with me. The seating was awkward (lawn type furniture and old booths) and the ordering process was odd. They need to rethink their process to tailor to people who want to dine in. Pros: -the food isn't bad (beef kefta and fries) -the menu is simple and easy to understand -the service is friendly (the 1 guy we talked to) Cons: -it's prohibitively small inside -of the 6 tables, you'd only actually sit and eat at one of the two booths -the booths slide all around on the floor We were pretty stoked to try this place out because we live in the area, it's clearly family owned, and saw it was off to a hot (yet brief 8 review) start on yelp. We love halal/Mediterranean food, and the area has a lot of great food options. It's just clearly a restaurant that wasn't ready to be open yet, there was no thought to basic things like layout, seating, or flow. I don't need decorations, which it has none, but, I do like some basic logical seating and an ordering process that isn't that disjointed. I would recommend takeout, as dining in was annoying and awkward enough for me, a huge lover of all "family owned" spots to leave here and just think to myself... Omg Something has happened. I had not been back for four months. We ordered the chicken shawrma and like other reviewers said it was extremely dry. Past visits it was juicy and fresh. Someone had prepped it and left it in a heater? Or worse it was fresh but over cooked. And over salted! The fries that came with it were dark brown and hard and had little potato taste. The bright spot was the olives and pickles. My friend had similarly over cooked fries and hummus that was bland.
