You know food lion gets a bad rap ... and I wanted to put a review up just to thank them for the terrific service and employee friendliness at this location. I had to order a bunch of steaks for an employee lunch that we were grilling out. Went several places and was difficult to place an order. The guy in the meat department at Food Lion was extremely helpful. The manager was super nice. The price was good .... and the steaks they hand cut for me to pick up the next day were amazing. Don't write off quality at food lion .... I highly recommend this location and especially the meat department and very much appreciate their terrific management. read more

The customer service here is absolute trash! And this punk AMF in the deli gave me some of the nastiest most unsanitary food I've ever seen!! He didn't wipe off or sanitize the slicer or the scale!! The worst and most disgusting experience I've ever had at any grocery store!! That mofo lucky I didn't catch charges that day!! Because to top it off his sorry azz had an attitude!! I'm generally satisfied with the CH Food Lion. The folks are nice, the prices are reasonable, and the inside of the store is easily navigable. I had a very bad fall in the parking lot in 2023 and spent most of 2024 in hospitals and healthcare. The manager and staff were very attentive. Now for some criticism. There's not much selection available, perhaps due to the size of the store. Since I fell, I avoid walking in the parking lot. I've been doing Food to Go, which generally works pretty well; however, with caveats. First, they run out of things often. The Shopper will work with you for a substitute, but when I'm told they have NO lettuce at all ("it's on the truck.") it's kind of tough. Which brings me to produce and meats. When someone is shopping for you, you're kind of at their mercy in terms of what they select. The 5 lb. turkey turned out to be 7.5 lbs. Yesterday, I ordered 2 yellow onions and got a red onion and a Vidalia that has already started going bad. Some hot dog buns I ordered were smooshed and instead of 2 loose russet potatoes I once got a bag full. Again, it's a good service and when you contract someone to do what you should do, you really can't complain about what you get. So, I gave them a 3, or better a 3.5. I'll certainly continue to use the Food to Go service, but hopefully I'll be able to go back into the store again soon. read more

The store was clean. Was able to make groceries and be out in not too much time. I was also able to get VA Lottery Tickets from the vending machine by the registers. And by the way, The Country Ham appears to be a big hit. read more

When visiting family in Colonial Heights, if we find ourselves short of a quick grocery store stop for a staple item this is usually the first place I turn to. Food Lion has a decent selection of items and the staff were friendly and helpful. While I may need a larger selection of items to complete several recipes, this is a great place to check off the everyday grocery list. read more

I am a regular Food Lion shopper and I am very satisfied 99% of the time but today was not one of those days. I bought 4 bran muffins at approximately $4.50. I was so disappointed .They crumbled if I cut them or tried breaking them apart or tried to put softened butter on them. I crumbled them further and fed them to the birds. So dissatisfied. Bought a 6.8 pound Turkey Breast for Thanksgiving dinner. Sale price at $1.49 a pound, thawed it out and thought it looked small, weighed it and it weighed 4.8 pounds. That would be $2.11 per pound. So if you liked getting ripped off by Food Lion go there. read more

I like Food Lion. Once a month I will fill up my shopping cart. I can find just about anything I need. Other shopping centers are okay too but they are a little bit too expensive for my taste. It's neat and the floors are clean and shiny . The people who work there are nice and friendly and eager to help me. read more
