Went to the sandwich section and it was amazing. the employees were so nice to me and my daughter. place was really clean and proper.

There are some hits and misses about this location. The service deli is a huge hit. The made-to-order sandwiches are fantastic, the salad bar is always great, the soups are tasty, the hot bar is great, sushi choices are pretty good - especially on Wednesday. I haven't had a bad thing from the bakery yet. The sales are great, especially the BOGO. The misses are that if things aren't on sale, I have paid as much as twice as much for the same item as I can get it literally anywhere else. The produce is laughable. It is generally already half spoiled and covered in fruit flies on the shelf. For some reason, any milk I get here goes chunky at least by the Best By date, so be sure you drink it well before then. Overall, some things are AWESOME, and other things are a huge waste of your hard earned money. Also, most of the employees here are top-notch. As a Florida native Publix is a staple in every community. I don't know a single Floridian who doesn't love Publix. After I joined the Navy in 2014 I saw Publix less frequently unless I went back home to visit. This made me so sad. But now they've expanded to Virginia these last few years and that makes me happy! Publix is the Chik-Fil-A of grocery stores. Hopefully that puts it into perspective for those who have never been. This Williamsburg location is no exception. Friendly staff, excellent customer service as well. You can find food that's localized in Florida that has been imported. The deli section is amazing. They have premade food or you can order it fresh if you prefer. Highly recommend a Publix chicken tender sub with lettuce, tomato, and honey mustard. 10/10 combo. If you live anywhere in the 757 it is definitely worth the drive to visit this location. read more

I absolutely LOVE this grocery store. It's worth the drive from Chester...worth bypassing Kroger and Food Liar. It is so clean in there, the carts roll so smoothly with no clanging or wobbling, and they have such an amazing selection of foods! The produce is fresh and displayed so nicely. Their subs are made to order and are by far better than any of the local sub shops. There are a few ready made salads that I have become somewhat obsessed with ; strawberry pecan balsamic, and the salmon with capers. It is such a pleasure to shop in a place that is so clean, the aisles are spaced nicely so you aren't banging into people, and every employee I have interacted with has been so friendly! It's like the Chick-Fil-A of grocery stores. I do wish we had one right in Chester, but as I said, it's worth driving to Colonial Heights. The parking is also better. read more

Don't usually right a review for a grocery store but I've been wanted to visit a Publix for years! In the north generally you can a good hoagie at any deli or pizza shop and grocery stores aren't known to have spectacular sandwiches but Publix is different. I always hear people raving about the subs and cakes so I had to try. I'm a huge fan of good bread and Publix met the mark! Hoagie/sub was the best grocery sandwich I've ever had! Know I see the hype. Also got the chicken salad 8/10! Nice chunks of Chicken and very flavorful. Also tried the confetti cake. I'm also not a fan of store cakes but this was really good! I decided to go to Publix for lunch because they have the best selection of food. Well, the first thing I noticed was there She Crab Soup! I had to try some because it's difficult to find in this area. Oh my goodness! The creamy broth, chunks of crab meat with just the right amount of seasoning. This was a great lunch! This Publix appears to be a fairly new addition to the Colonial Square Shopping Center. This shopping center is located along US 301 (the road name is Boulevard). When you come up to the shopping center, you may not see the place right away depending on what direction you are coming from, but once you get in the shopping center, it's a hard place to miss. It's been a few decades since I have been inside of a Publix supermarket. Currently, there are none down here in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia. The travel time to get here was about two hours one way using US 460. Once we came inside, the place was quite large. There is even a Starbucks inside here as well as a sandwich shop. The store is extremely clean and well maintained. It was nice and bright as well, which you don't always find. The first stop here was to go to the pharmacy, as that was the main reason for taking the longer trip, since some of the prescriptions my mom takes are free here (as opposed to paying $60-$70 elsewhere here locally). After visiting the pharmacy, they said it would be about 15-30 minutes for them to be ready, which was no big deal since we wanted to explore the store anyways. While waiting for the prescriptions to be ready, it was time to explore. There is quite a selection of items to be found here. We found some items that are hard to find at home, so we did get some of those items to take home. You would also find many items you would find at other supermarkets as well, but one thing I did notice is that there weren't as many private label items as I thought there would be. Overall, this was a great supermarket to visit. Until Publix makes their debut in Virginia Beach or the Hampton Roads area, I will make the trip up to here every few months for my mom's prescriptions, along with searching for more stuff I can't find at home. I was very disappointed when I ordered a birthday cake. The happy birthday I requested was written on a 4 inch by 2 inch acetate sheet. When i.asked why it want on the cake the store employee said in very snarkey manner we don't write on cakes any more. I paid $26 for an 8 inch cake and they REFUSED TO WRITE HAPPY BIRTHDAY ON THE CAKE. I asked to speak to the manager waited 15 minutes my ice cream was melted, I left. Even the manager refused to speak to the customer. Wish we had Wegmans or harris teether. Never had worse customer service. I was having a serious craving for some crab legs, but didn't want to go to a restaurant. While driving pass Publix I decided I could get them from there. When u walk in to Publix you immediately smell all the goodness from the food they prepare and bakery. I decided to walk pass the prepared food and everything was looking fresh and delicious. The staff all spoke and ask how I was doing. The seafood department had a small line because there seafood selection is really good. I got my crab legs at $13.99 a pound, they steamed them for me too. While waiting for the crab legs to steam I walked around the store. Their produce section looks beautiful. I brought some fruit. While browsing I noticed they have signs that say responsibly sourced throughout the store. They also have signs that tell you if the product was farmed in the USA. As I walked around more staff spoke and asked if I needed assistance. There meat selection also looks good and they were having a sale on steak and pork, that I thought was really good. This was a pleasurable shopping trip, the staff is friendly, the food looks fresh and pretty, and my crab legs were GREAT. read more

I'll start off by saying I'm very picky + critique hard when it comes to Publix for me. I grew up in the hometown where Publix was founded and came to be. Therefore, Publix has an extreme soft spot for me, naturally. This Publix is worth the 20 minute drive for me. I have never once had a problem there. It's an updated - newer Publix. I love that they have an area on where you can eat after you get your infamous pub sub or deli combo. It's clean. The employees are willing to help if you have any questions. Publix is in a location which used to be a Martins that used to be a Ukrop's. It is nice to have a another grocery store option in the area. We've all been long awaiting the coming of the Kroger. After going a few times, I can say the store is just okay. The prices are a little bit higher than what you can find at other places but they do have more options for those that are a little more fancy. My main reason for going there is there clearance items which they keep on a shelf near the front door. I usually get really good deals on coffee which can be up to 60% off. I'm also a fan of their Seafood section which has a wide variety of fish. I recently bought some Arctic char there that was amazing. Arctic char is the new salmon, tell your friends. There is also a Starbucks in this location which always makes shopping more bearable. I think where Publix really shines is there customer service. The staff is always super friendly and helpful and really nice to children. read more

Every time we come to this store the customer service is outstanding. I ordered a sub there and it was probably one of the best I have had in a while. I told them I had a garlic allergy and the woman making my sandwich made sure to put on fresh gloves and also use a new knife for cutting my sub to make sure there was no cross contamination. She really went out of her way to make sure I was good. They have a nice meat and seafood selection and everyone is very friendly when you check out. They will help with your bags to the car if you want help as well. Store is very clean. Plenty of parking. read more

This location is great. Staff is very friendly and interactive with my kids which makes the process easier. They offered kid friendly activities such as a free cupcake with the return of the coloring page handed out. The location is very clean and the produce is fresh. What kind of grocery store closes at 9pm??????? Also, this is the most expensive store in RVA (RIchmond VA). Much more expensive than Wegmans, and it doesn't come close to their prepared or hot meals. Also, the bakery is barely there. They do have good produce and meats and the staff is always nice. However, I only stop in for emergencies. And when I went on my last run yesterday I was reminded why I don't shop here - $2.50 for a dozen eggs????? Ukrops to Martin and now Publix Grocery store . This store is upscale and well laid out . Upon entering to the right is the Food / Salad Bar area . There is a sub sandwich area slightly to the left and around from that is the Deli . Where they boast Boar's Head and Publix deli meat . Pass that area is your produce and Bakery to the right . Wine (Large wine selection)and Cheese and towards the back . I enjoy shopping here it's a clean store and normally well stocked . Unless they are calling for snow and all the people who think they will starve never to be able to leave their home again wipe them out . I can normally find the things I need . If they don't have it they will attempt to order it . I say attempt because I've ask for serval things and sadly have never heard back from them . Bring your wallet $$$ Publix is higher than their competitors . The sales seem to be fair and they offer Bogo. I don't do all my shopping here , but it is convenient to where I Bank . So I will run in there and pick a few items up. The people are friendly and try to get you out ASAP of the check out line . Also have self check - out ... you can normally navigate through this quickly when you have a few items . Right in the store is a Pharmacy and StarBucks ... That's very convenient . read more

When another well known bakery closed, it's hard to find a good bakery. I was referred by someone that told me that I would not be disappointed. I was put in charge of the pastors anniversary cake and with invited guest it had to be top quality. I came in and only knew I needed numbers and was pleasantly surprised. I was assisted with all the particulars and before even deciding was given a cake sample. Yes buddy, we have a winner. When I go pick up the cake it was more than what I expected and it was talked about at the dinner. I bragged bot where I had purchased the cake at and how this was our new spot for desserts. Plus I was able to treat myself to a slice of cheesecake that just melted in my mouth and made me want another slice despite my waistline saying no. read more

The customer service is above and beyond in this grocery store. I'm disabled. I have a joint disease, sometimes I walk with a cane, and have trouble lifting heavy items. I know I can rely on the employees at this Publix. They know me by sight and I know them. They've lifted dog food and sodas onto my cart when I couldn't do it. They've unloaded my cart onto the conveyor belt at the counter. They always take my groceries to the car and load them into the back. I am high maintenance and they never let it show. They go out of their way to help me when they see me. The prices are reasonable and if you sign up for their mailing list you'll regularly get coupons for $5-$10 of groceries. Their generic brand is just as good as any commercial brand food. I especially like their frozen eggplant parmesan--decent price, family sized, delicious. read more

Bring the paycheck with you. Expensive. Too dark in this store. Been there twice. Looked especially for Tiramisu cake. Not there. Had a space for it with a $16 price tag. Drove to Kroger. They had 4 beautiful cakes. $12. I asked the lady in the bakery where the cake was. She shrugged her shoulders and said I guess we are out. Nope. I'll drive the extra 7 miles to the Chester Kroger. When Publix first opened, I went for grand opening and everyone was falling all over themselves to help. The prices were high and I decided not to go back. I continued to go to Kroger. Today, I went back to check if they had Sorbet. I had my own bags but I did not see the baskets because they are in a different area than other grocery stores. I asked a bagger where the baskets were and he handed me paper bags. Then he went and got the bags the store sells. I told him 4 times I wanted a basket and when he never got one, I asked to see the manager. He never did give me his name. I had to point him out and the manager said he just did not understand. Been here a couple of times. They have a good selection of natural and eco friendly products. I do have a few complaints. When I get a sub they always stuff it so full I can barely eat it and it's a bit wasteful. The selection for feminine products have slim pickings and they don't carry hemp milk which I have been craving, the oat milk is also slim pickings. The cashiers and baggers are nice though. My sister called me today rather outraged by the RACISM she experienced at this store today. Apparently, store associates only cater to white customers after my sister tried numerous times to get assistance, only to be blatantly ignored. In the associate's ambition to ignore her, she rushed over to another (white) customer who never even indicated assistance was needed. If you can't work and help customers from all racial and social backgrounds, find another job. My family and I will never visit another Publix location again. read more

I grew up with publix so finding this gem made me very happy. The store is clean; staff friendly and knowledgeable; the selection is extensive. They may seem a little higher than their competitors but 1) the publix brand is cheaper by far and tastes just as good or better than the name brand and 2) they price match. Definitely worth looking at the competition just for this little gem. My favorite part about publix is the subs and bakery. Everything to order. So yummy! read more
