I will say there's plenty of parking outside with a very clean parking lot. There isn't too much inventory spilling out into the front of the store, which is oh so trendy, but it's tastefully done. Walking in the place is extremely clean, after some of the places I've been recently, this is very refreshing. I'll get this out of the way up front. I used to be a chef so when I see GMO, Gluten free, etc etc I cringe. There is hardly a definitive Government standard by which all these things are measured. Which means more often than not, it's a scam. If you want the real deal, farmers markets are the best bet. With that I observed the pricing like a hawk and comparable items had roughly a 10% markup. Now then I do love their house made foods. Cooking pizzas to order? Come on that's awesome! Desserts and cheeses are ok although I was a little down on their sliced meats and the variety. Their butcher was ho-hum and not very impressive. But... I spotted something I didn't anticipate Kangaroo, Ostrich and Bison to name a few oddities. I give credit for carrying very unpopular items around Summerville. FYI I've cooked ostrich before. It tastes just like beef only almost all lean meat for those watching your calories. I wondered around some more, noticing they had better cereal alternatives with less sugar. They lacked snacks like coconut crisps, but they did have a great assortment of dried fruits. Although I was impressed with their dried mushroom selection, no dried shiitakes! Generally, I like fresh, which they did have, but I wanted the juice from soaking them. Odd they have other mushrooms but not shiitake. The people here are fantastic. For some reason in my mind when I think of these "hippy" type of stores like Earth Fare I think very grounded and kind people. I wasn't disappointed as I asked the produce guy for something and he was all too eager to help out. If it were me, I would have been more like "check isle 3" or something. The employees are shining examples of down to earth kindness; something we all could use more of in these days. Overall, I like this place based on principal but those same principles are what keep me away. I'm not overly excited about slapping on GMO free labels when most of the time those are just buzz words to make an extra buck. Are there authentic companies out there? Sure but you really have to do your homework. Therefore, I remain committed to farmers markets. That said, I think this place is fine for those who like it. If you haven't been here before and are reading this be prepared for a slight price increase. To reiterate they do have an interesting variety of items greatly depending on specific products. I'm sure if you drop by you wont leave empty handed especially with the quality of people there to help.

Yesterday, I went with my sister and dad to my dad's appointment. Afterwards, my sister insisted we stop at Piggly Wiggly to grab some food. She kept talking about how good their deli food was. Usually she's right, but I'm thinking... there's a Piggly Wiggly where we live how different can it really be? Well. We made our way to this location on a Monday afternoon, and it wasn't busy at all. When we got to the deli, there was only one person ahead of us and the food looked EXTRA fresh. (Jackpot.) I'm standing there looking at everything and thinking... wow, this all looks good. Pork chops, baked chicken, fried chicken, sweet potato casserole... I could keep going. Presentation? Solid. When it was my turn, I went with baked chicken (a thigh and leg), yellow chicken rice, and sweet potato casserole. Doesn't sound like a lot, right? HA. Wait until you see the serving size. My plate was LOADED. What I appreciated most was how friendly the staff was while serving the food. They were so kind and didn't have an attitude while fixing plates (and if you know deli counters... you know). They made my first experience a great one. Overall, I really enjoyed the food. The baked chicken was good. The sweet potato casserole? I honestly could have eaten an entire pan of that by myself. The chicken rice was good too, my serving had a lot of pepper, but I still enjoyed it. My dad and sister got food as well, and they both enjoyed theirs. Would I come back here? Yep! I spent $9.99 on a plate I've been eating off for TWO DAYS. That's how much food they gave me. Next time, I want to try the fried chicken because that looked really good. If you're tired of drive-thru food and want a hot meal that actually feels homemade, I definitely recommend checking out the Piggly Wiggly deli!

Dropped by this Harris Teeter location to grab one item. I rarely come to this one because it is so…read moremismanaged. The self checkout line trailed all the way through the wine department. There were three lines open. They had just opened one line more making that four lanes. Only one lane had the light on. So the other line was all the way back to the pharmacy area. Try to go to service desk, and noticed the manager was helping back the slowest of the unlit lines. Those unlit lines people had to backtrack to make purchases as if they were only taking selective customers. I approached the manager named Lori, and said could I give you some advice or recommend maybe turning the lights on so that there would be multiple lines that would move throughout the store. She sarcastically responded to me. Thanks for your advice. When I tried to explain myself, she cut me off and said again thanks for your advice. It was only open temporarily. I did manage an explicative under my breath as I was walking away as she kept screaming. Have a nice day. Have a nice day. I left without my purchase and refused to ever go back to this location. Huge fan of Harris Teeter, and every time I go to this location, I leave unhappy. Was in and out of Publix, which was twice as busy. Got what I needed and left in less than five minutes. Let me add, they were not understaffed. Lots of staff in the store on their phones and chatting with each other. Those people could've helped with bagging and movement of the lines. Looking back I should have used the word suggestion instead of advice, however I don't think it would have made a difference.

Childhood favorites mostly. Now I will cut to the chase. Whoever monitors and/or stocks this store's bread aisle needs some serious counseling. I'm normally a fanatic about looking at expiration dates although Publix has never let me down and I was in a bit of a hurry to avoid rush hour. I bought hot dog buns and slider buns. I got home and pan fried those dogs, opened the buns and have never been so disgusted in my life. EVERY SINGLE one was covered in mold.,Yes, a picture is coming. But I was hungry so I thought I'll just cut the dogs in half and use the slider buns. Good gracious, they were hard as rocks. Looked at the use by date and it said April 8, it was April 11. So the dogs were done and I was out of luck. Then I remember the tortillas I brought with me from my Publix in Florida. So I made it work. This will certainly never be my grocery store. Even when I went to check out, there was no one in the open lines. Finally someone showed up. And of course no one offered to help me with my groceries. I usually refuse, but my back had a little issue after lifting all those boxes. I made do. No, I did not go back to the store for a refund.,I just want that bread aisle individual to get some training. Customer service is always good and if you ever have a problem, they'll refund or exchange without hassle.

This was one of the most cleanest Publix I've ever went to and loved just walking all through the aisles just observing the store. The shelves were clean no dust at all. They even asked if you needed any help finding things I guess because I looked lost because I was mesmerized. I wish I could move to Charleston because of the hospitality was so moving. The food was cooked freshly cooked as you can tell because you could smell it in throughout the store. I would like to thank all the employees for being great with the customer service.

You can find some good deals in that freezer. Their butchers can honor certain requests such as specialty orders but nothing guaranteed. Overall, the meat prices are great. Most other items are less expensive than civilian supermarkets as well but some things we can get cheaper off base. Overall, it's a good commissary.
