This is the first time I've shopped here. Are used to go to FoodMaxx over in Vallejo California. But this supermarket had the best deal on holiday turkeys that I could fine. $.29 a pound if I spend $25. And everything is so cheap, we ended up getting all of our holiday dinner needs. From cans of olives that we're only a dollar to see you need brown sugar for $1.19. Great prices. The produce worker helped me find the 3 types of apples needed for a fresh apple pie. We needed Pink Lady, gala and golden delicious. The apples were not labeled correctly and he apologized. He then offered to help us find other stuff. This service went above what I usually see at discount grocery stores. In the butcher area, I needed to find a 20 lb turkey and the largest I found was 16 lbs. Again, a worker from the meat department Offered to help and she went in the back to search for a 20lb turkey. She actually came out with 2 of them. Awesome help. I usually go to a different store for my family needs but now will start coming here.

After returning their call and leaving a message, I never received a call back from FoodMaxx claims. Car is fixed, at my expense. Sigh.

I was searching for a whole chicken to put in the smoker when I ran across an ad from Safeway. Five dollar Cornish game hens (regularly seven dollars) if you purchase four of them. I decided to go for the deal, and when I open the app and they had a $30 off first time order for either delivery or pick up. Now I like to save money, just had to purchase $75 after all of the discounts. So I went through the app and ordered a bunch of stuff. New York steaks were on sale, Cornish game hints, bought a few different types of vegetables. The total was $160. But with the coupons and the $30 off, I ended up spending $48. It's nice to have them pick up the stuff, but the shoppers job is not to help you get the best items. My wife had to replace the salary and the carrots and the steaks. It seems like the shoppers job is too get rid of stuff before it expires and they have no issue giving you bruised or damaged fruits and vegetables. So even though the price was great , the steaks were completely covered with fat and gristle. The vegetables were on their last leg. I do not recommend this service.

Walked up to a register line tonight in a good mood, asked the gentleman how he was. Didn't respond.... He was in a conversation with his coworker and got upset when we were in the line. Asked to confirm if my card registered Into the system. Looks up.... "It did!" In a glaring tone. Got upset and didn't bag our groceries... not that we expected him to, but he started and just stopped. Then proceeds to scan the same thing over 3 times.... We had to ask him to remove the duplicate scanned item and he got defensive about his error.... He had an attitude the entire time and proceeds to be warm and inviting to the following person in line... of the same skin tone. Didn't have to say anything, his attitude, his glare, and his demeanor said it all. Just ridiculous.

The Northern Nevada stores are a great size to shop with knowledgeable personnel to help. I have become spoiled with the holiday meals that are impressive and reasonable. The Sparks store is well stocked and is maintained to a high standard. Keep up the great work. Loss of a star rating because the App can be tricky with "sale" prices that cause confusion when you go to the store and try to buy the items instead of having it as a will call pick up order. The shelf pricing doesn't reflect the online price. Not this stores fault but a marketing racket that is not driven by actual shoppers or the customer experience.

The steaks often look like "skate ramps"--poorly cut with uneven surfaces and then crammed into the packaging. As someone with meat-cutting experience, the lack of care and consistency really stands out. What really surprised me was the knowledge behind the counter. I asked an employee about a filet, and she seemed to think "filet mignon" was a completely different type of steak. When I explained that filet mignon is the tenderloin steak commonly served in restaurants--often wrapped in bacon, she argued instead of listening. The overall impression I got was that the meat department lacks experienced cutters with a solid understanding of basic beef cuts. If you're particular about how your steaks are cut or expect knowledgeable service from the meat counter, this location may leave you frustrated. Go anywhere else in Reno for a decent steak.
