I love Food 4 Less because it's a great place to buy fresh meats for less. Other groceries are also less, especially when on promotion. This location has high security with security cameras in the parking lot and an armed guard at the front door to keep any unsavory characters behaved. It's clean and large just like all of their stores. But the best thing about this location is that they have self checkout, so you can avoid a long wait to check out, which is a lot more than I can say compared to the location on Claremont Mesa Boulevard. read more

They have very great specials. I shop there often and use my app for any digital coupons and or deals. I like to take my time grocery shopping and most of the staff I've come across have been kind, helpful and just going about their job. The downfall is they do seem to be short on cashiers occasionally. Not very often but it happens. Not the staffs fault, I can wait. My only real issue is people bringing their dogs in. I am completely on board with service animals of course, but there are so many people bringing in dogs clearly not service animals. I saw a dog the other day being dragged through the store by their owner and barking in various aisles. On top of that the dog was getting near and sniffing all the food and stuff. I love animals but this is so unnecessary. It would be nice is the store could do something about this. I don't want my groceries sitting where someone's dog was sitting as well. One of my favorite Food4Less location. It is right off the 8 freeway and Hazard Center. There's plenty of parking, a lot of restaurants nearby. This location is almost always stocked, very clean, friendly cashier/stockers/workers. They have security on site just in case. The cart pushers are pretty good at having the carts nearby. One of the perks here is that they have self check out, no alcohol at the self check out though. They have fresh vegetables, fruits, meat and bread! Almost always stocked! I like that they have a huge variety of international products to choose from, fresh bakery and they cook their chicken in store. The store is spacious as well. My go to spot. Great store with reasonably priced items. They have a small discount section (red mesh bags for 99cents) for produce that's well past its sell by date. I tend to get the items from there and as long as you use it either the same day or next day it's usually fine! Meat variety is decent and quality too. One thing is that there is a lot of "traffic" outside the store, some days more than others out front but there are guards that do a good job of keeping the peace. Not something to worry about too much. My go to store since I live close by. read more

Food4Less is the Kroger (think Ralph's in California or Smith's in Nevada) warehouse store. Prices are generally lower than those at Ralph's or Smith's, but item variety is less. Produce is fresh. Meat cases tend to well stocked. Store decor is pretty basic. Watch the Food4Less weekly ads on Flipp to see what's on sale. I tend to stop at this Food4Less for the sale items when I'm in the area. Kroger gift cards are accepted, as are credit cards. You have to bag your own at checkout. read more

This is the mission valley location "Food For Less" the store is well kept and products look reasonable to the eye. The prices are kinda up there but they do run sales often as seen in the food guide available upon walking in or on your phone store app. I'm not too crazy about the digital coupon as it can be rather complicated to use and checkout is not the time to figure it out lol. They have super sensitive self serve check out and can be a hassle cause the machine thinks everyone's a thief when the scale doesn't register the product on the bag it side. The staff is pretty cool about and mock that they have to constantly run back and forth but are super friendly. The ambiance is cool as it is well lite and makes for appealing shopping. I shop here for meat, organic veggies and fruit produce along with some frozen items however there many places to get your other items that are staples in your home that may be more reasonably priced. All is all it's an ok place to shop and I would definitely come here regularly. read more

I bought some Kroger brand toilet paper at Food4Less. It advertised 20 rolls and 1000 sheets each roll in each package. What they didn't tell you is that the sheets were so thin that you needed about 10 to 12 single sheets to make one decent sheet that would not rip upon use. It's a total rip off and I will throw out the remaining 16 rolls. My recommendation is: DO NOT BUY!!!! read more

Shopped at 10pm Friday night. Just a couple of creepy homeless guys smoking Marijuana right outside the entrance door. Luckily, they didn't bother me for money. The store was clean inside. I have nothing but great things to say about this store. Employees are helpful and friendly. The store has the best prices and their produce is fresh and plentiful. Today, I needed a papaya but had no clue how to tell which one was ready for today. I came upon the store manager who walked me over to a man working in the produce dept. He went in back and chose the perfect papaya for me. Plus, I didn't have to wait in line for 20 minutes to check out, walked right up to the self check and paid. Quality and quantity of different food and supplies is amazing for the price they offer. Service and staff are average. They have security at the door to prevent theft. This past Sunday I bought danish at the Food-4-Less in Mission Valley. The price on the package was $4.00 and I was charged $5.00, so I went back to the store to get the$1.00 that I was over charged. This is not the first time I was overcharged at this store. A couple of the employees said, it happens a lot with the baked goods. Check your receipts to make sure you are not overcharged. The most wonderful people work there! I've now maintained my location near there for 8 months and this place has been a blessing! Great quality, well priced food, perfectly stocked selection of everything I would ever need and awesome staff. This is my primary grocery store, and I like how cheap the prices can be. Since Food 4 Less is linked to Ralph's, there is plenty of product overlap between the two. If you're like me who doesn't care for the higher prices for the kind of quality I could do without, I am fine with Food 4 Less over Ralph's any day. Pros: - They open early and close late. - Prices are generally lower than other grocery stores - The self-check-out kiosks work very well. Cons: - They don't have as many specialty products. For example, I was looking for pesto as well as certain kinds of pasta, like orzo and orecchiette, and I was out of luck. (However, I would still rather come here first to make sure they don't have it. That way, I don't come here later and regretting paying more for the same product elsewhere.) - Not many (if any) baskets available. Seems to be most or all carts here. Parking: Never an issue. I don't need to park close to the entrance, so there's never a time when I have to go elsewhere because of not finding parking. FYI: - Don't be alarmed by the random cameras by the coffee and cheese areas. - There are always some baked goods and/or bread on clearance at the corner by the dairy and fridge sections. read more

Love this location. Many items in stock. Excellent selection of meat and poultry. Love that the deli has so many choices for grab and go. Examples are, refried beans, Spanish rice, sandwiches, salads, side dishes, and hot food as well are all ready to go. They have a great pre-packed salads section but today I didn't check it out because the last time I came last week here, they were lacking selection. I didn't want to waste my time to check but it's normally pretty good. They have large sections of ethnic food. Great job. I choose to do my grocery shopping here later at night to avoid the crowds plus I get off work late. It's 30 mins before closing and all they have is one register and self check out open. I don't want to scan my own 40 items of groceries. There's like 3-4 employees closing shift walking around doing squat. They could easily open up more registers to knock down the line. SMH. The university location is way better and employees are way more efficient and u am out the store in a quickness. This location needs to stop doing this self check out BS before closing. read more

This is a great store to save money on popular brand name items. One of the reasons they can offer discounted prices is because they don't have baggers. Yes, you end up bagging your own groceries. The reduced overhead on wages, worker's comp insurance, and benefits etc. translates into savings passed onto you. Things like brand named: bottled water, cake mix, chips, cookies, almond milk, creamer, pretty much almost any item you can think of is much cheaper here compared to stores such as Albertson's, Ralph's, or Vons. I'm not much of a fan of the produce section here, although it appears improved. Looks like the organic selection is larger and more improved. I usually hit up Trader Joe's or Sprouts for produce. They remodeled recently and the store has a much more open feel (aka better "feng shui"). I also noticed that employees make more of an effort to greet you and ask if you need any help. One of the other negatives about this store used to be the lines, but seems like they make more of an effort to open more lanes now. Good service should never go unnoticed!! Mark at the self service check out was absolutely phenomenal! I had some issues due to computer glitches and he was happy to help with all! For every missing produce sticker he knew all the numbers. When I got to the end of my purchase it asked for a frequent shopper card and I asked why I hadn't heard of this other than for the gas discounts which don't really apply to this area. Mark told me that I should sign up anyway so I can get all the best savings and he also told me about free item Friday! Of course I want this card! Went home and signed up :) Mark was quite possibly the sweetest man ever to assist me in a grocery store! Employee of the year right there! I was rung up by a gentleman which I believe to be the store manager . He had a name tag labeled store manager so I'm assuming that's him ! He made eye contact to let me know his line was open. He was polite and asked if I was able find everything ok . I Mentioned I hadn't seen a type of OJ in stock for a while and he mentioned he'd ask his stock guy. After he rung me up I noticed he was already following up with another employee about my OJ that I love. This location is exceptional busy. It's located In Mission valley off Mission center rd., in the same parking lot as jack n box and postal annex. Be prepared for Looooong lines no matter what time of the day. Parking is horrible. Produce is average sometimes overly ripped but the prices are superb. They do offer some organic fruits and veggies but the selection is quite limited. The meat is average. I prefer Vons grocery store meat over Food 4 less. Download the Ralph app for digital coupons (extra extra savings). The store is fairly clean. The aisle are organized, free of debris & misplaced items. Shelves are well stocked. Signage is clear and accurate. Eye catching deals. First rate bargains especially if your own a tight family grocery budget, like mines. read more

Well I gone in to pick up some meats for my cookings, and there are sensitizing station before you enter unmanned, I didn't realized till I walk passed it. I make sure to speedy through whatever I am buying. I spent less 7 min in the store. I used the self checked out stands. There were no sensitizing done by the staffs between different buyers go thru the self check system, she was there chit chatting with whom ever near her station as I remembered before COVID. Aside from that staff, the store was pretty empty and people who shopped them seem to follow the protocol of COVID prevention measures. read more

Friday 8 pm with the only two lanes available each having 10 customers standing in each of the two lines available. A self-checkout person lacks the ability to be more hands-on and help people move over to this area. Also, the entryway to self-checkout seems to be closed with all merchandise you are trying to sell that you can't see that this lane is open and available. Bad customer service altogether. I don't think that I should come to your store to spend my money and spend more time in a lane to pay (25 minutes). Then within the aisles, there should be someone walking around to answer questions dealing with item location, availability, and general. The vegetable refrigerated area back at the end of the store was blocked by several unopened salad boxes that some stocker left in the aisle. You may be my closest location but definitely not the only Supermarket in the area. Hopefully, management takes notes and talks about it with their area coordinators or management staff. read more

Food for less is great for having items late night when you need them. It is open until midnight. In terms of produce and meat, it is cheaper than Ralph's for certain. Dairy is also cheaper. It's not as fancy as the other grocery stores, and sure I still need to stop at other stores for certain items, but when I'm in the area, this is my go to spot for affordable food. Oh, as a side note, people in this area don't know how to drive at all, carts or cars. If you're looking for a wide variety then then this isn't the place for you.
