    BBQ chicken

Small ethnic grocery store with a hidden steam table with different Filipino food. Food was good but since it was my 1st time having this type of cuisine I don't have anything to compare it to. After I try Filipino food elsewhere I can have an idea of how it compares. I would go back again......

white rice, stewed beef and pork, plus BBQ chicken and pork skewers

Food bites I have to say has a lot of specialty items I can't find much elsewhere for any Asian dishes, which awesome since prices here were very reasonable and it great if I want ingredients I can come here and not have to eBay or amazon for dishes I like to make, plus staff was nice enough and helpful for sure. I took up the recommending on here and tried the hot food in the back. I got four BBQ skewered of two chicken and two pork. Both were very tender and moist, with a light char on them, plus the BBQ was lightly sweet and tangy. The stewed beef was tender and the sauce it was it was amazing, really good when I added it to the cup of rice i got. The stewed pork cup was alright, but not as flavorful as the beef one. Grab a few imports ramen packs here as well, I can't find outside of amazon or eBay. If I ever need ingredients for Asian dishes def going to come here first.

All I can say is WOW!! Filipino grocery and take out.. just opened about 3 months ago and this place is the bomb! Drove 40 miles and it's so much worth it. You get your Filipino delicacies, groceries and other must haves at a very reasonable price. They also have cooked to-go food everyday.. cooked to order bbq skewers, crispy pata and lumpia, fried fish and more. The kitchen staff and owner-- very accommodating and nice people. They have 2 tables inside If you wish to eat there. But this is not a restaurant. I bought some groceries, a lot cheaper than the ones in Connecticut, and had take out food.. the chicken and pork bbq skewers are THE BEST!! They also made a tray of veggies for me while I waited.. $32 for a tray.. so good and so worth it. This filipino store is a gem... you will keep coming back. Go check out their Facebook page for updates. Love love this place! 5 stars!!

Asian grocery store with a small eating area in the back with traditional Filipino foods like adobo, pancit and lumpia. So good and nice to have additional food choices in the suburban land of pizzerias and fast food. Lunch combo has huge portions, I know because I ordered two to try a little bit of everything . I'll definitely be coming back!!

But there are a few universal similarities with Latin food: rice, seafood (because I'm a pescatarian) and garlic- to name a few. Then there's their halo-halo dessert. So when Hapág Bistro popped up in my Yelp pages- in Highland, NY no less and conveniently close to work- I was in. Hapág is cozy the second you step in here. My eyes immediately went up to the ceiling where these folks have faux greenery+florals hanging across the space. It actually softens Hapág and adds a little "nature". I was here on a tight clock and didn't have time to sit down for a full meal. But while I looked at the menu at work, one thing immediately jumped at me: halo-halo. This thing is sweet. It's a sweet explosion of shaved ice, creamy ube goodness, jellies, fruit and leche flan tucked in like little treasures. Then comes the ice cream on top tying the whole shit together. Every spoonful is cold, creamy and sugary in the best way. Shoutout to my girl Danielle, who was super pleasant and had one of those smiles that totally makes the place feel even more welcoming. Next time I'll actually stay long enough to eat real food- but for a quick pop-in, Hapág came out on top with dessert alone.

It really feels like a home cooked meal made with care. While the prices aren't the cheapest, the quality and taste absolutely justify it. You can tell there's a lot of attention put into each dish. My personal favorite is the lechon kawali paired with their garlic rice. It is crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. The dining space itself is cute, cozy, and very clean, making it a perfect little date night spot. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. It isn't the fastest service, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're on a time crunch. It's a great place to sit down and relax, and really enjoy the food. One thing to keep in mind is that their hours can be a bit unusual, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. Location-wise, it's also a great stop. It is just a short walk from the local brewery and the rail trail, making it an ideal place to grab a meal after a walk or before heading out for a couple of beers. Overall, a fantastic spot if you're looking for comforting, high quality Filipino food in a cozy setting.

I recently stopped by Karenderya in Nyack looking for some good Asian comfort food, and it definitely hit the spot. Known for delicious, made-from-scratch dishes, they were flavorful, fresh, and clearly cooked with care. The menu offers a wonderful introduction to Filipino cuisine, with hearty, satisfying dishes that feel comforting, taste scrumptious, and speaking for myself - as I rarely go to Filipino eateries due to my location, unique. The cashier/waitress was attentive, friendly, and helpful throughout my visit. While the atmosphere is fairly simple and not really the reason to come here, the focus is clearly on the food, and that's where Karenderya shines. This is an excellent option for takeout, and many of the dishes would be perfect to bring to a potluck or family gathering. Despite Nyack's often challenging parking situation, I found parking easy enough nearby, which was a pleasant surprise. Service can be slow when crowded, be forwarned. If you're looking for authentic, delicious Filipino-inspired food and don't need a fancy dining room, Karenderya is absolutely worth a visit.

Tried the kare kare which was creamy, had a good peanuty flavor (though not too strong/personal pref would have been an even stronger peanut flavor), and the oxtail was nice & soft. Also loved the adobe pork belly bowl & the rec to switch out the boiled egg for a fried one was on point. In comparison, the pancit was ok but didn't really stand out/not my favorite (perhaps a bit mild in taste compared to the other dishes. Our friend was allergic to jackfruit so they put it on the side for the halo halo which was nice of them. Good service! Would definitely come back :)
