    BBQ chicken

Small ethnic grocery store with a hidden steam table with different Filipino food. Food was good but since it was my 1st time having this type of cuisine I don't have anything to compare it to. After I try Filipino food elsewhere I can have an idea of how it compares. I would go back again......

white rice, stewed beef and pork, plus BBQ chicken and pork skewers

Food bites I have to say has a lot of specialty items I can't find much elsewhere for any Asian dishes, which awesome since prices here were very reasonable and it great if I want ingredients I can come here and not have to eBay or amazon for dishes I like to make, plus staff was nice enough and helpful for sure. I took up the recommending on here and tried the hot food in the back. I got four BBQ skewered of two chicken and two pork. Both were very tender and moist, with a light char on them, plus the BBQ was lightly sweet and tangy. The stewed beef was tender and the sauce it was it was amazing, really good when I added it to the cup of rice i got. The stewed pork cup was alright, but not as flavorful as the beef one. Grab a few imports ramen packs here as well, I can't find outside of amazon or eBay. If I ever need ingredients for Asian dishes def going to come here first.

All I can say is WOW!! Filipino grocery and take out.. just opened about 3 months ago and this place is the bomb! Drove 40 miles and it's so much worth it. You get your Filipino delicacies, groceries and other must haves at a very reasonable price. They also have cooked to-go food everyday.. cooked to order bbq skewers, crispy pata and lumpia, fried fish and more. The kitchen staff and owner-- very accommodating and nice people. They have 2 tables inside If you wish to eat there. But this is not a restaurant. I bought some groceries, a lot cheaper than the ones in Connecticut, and had take out food.. the chicken and pork bbq skewers are THE BEST!! They also made a tray of veggies for me while I waited.. $32 for a tray.. so good and so worth it. This filipino store is a gem... you will keep coming back. Go check out their Facebook page for updates. Love love this place! 5 stars!!

    Lumpia, pork adobo, pancit

Asian grocery store with a small eating area in the back with traditional Filipino foods like adobo, pancit and lumpia. So good and nice to have additional food choices in the suburban land of pizzerias and fast food. Lunch combo has huge portions, I know because I ordered two to try a little bit of everything . I'll definitely be coming back!!

Yes, hidden inside the old Lizzie's is a fabulous little Indian market and convenience store complete with a regular deli and some of the tastiest Indian dishes the samosas, the chicken tikka and curry and ALL the vegetarian options are truly a treat in these parts where the is little option for exotic food. The family who owns and works there are delightful people as well. Do yourself a favor and dash over to Ragams and pick up some warm, yummy Indian foods and groceries

What particularly attracted me to their little place is that it seems to be the only custom prepared Indian veggie food offering place in Putnam Valley, close to Peeksville where I reside. There are others but they are a distance away in White Plains neighborhood. Ragam Deli will prepare delicious, fresh, authentic veggie Indian food for uou, made to order for take away. I have ordered food four times, including my favorite staples, potato cauliflower curry, okra, green beans and cabbage. I have been very satisfied even though my take away orders though in bulk are not all that large. Now the offering range is basic rather than exotic and hard to prepare. However, it is exzctly what you would want on a daily basis rather the weekly special eat out. But the food is tasty and just what you need as a regular bulk takeaway chow down. What has struck me the most is the freshness of the take away prepared items, still warm with the fragrance of the spices coming through. An additional bonus for me is that they made an effort to o make my food especially pungent (spicy) which is what Zi grew up with in Karnataka, Andhra and Tamilnadu. That apart the tangible good vibes flowing in great waves from the husband, wife and daughter owners is something really heart warming and cheery in these impersonal service times. I strongly recommend Ragam for those folks wanting prepared Indian veggie takeaway meals, and custom made to order.

So one Saturday afternoon, I finally stopped by with my mom. The space itself is airy, with like floor-to-ceiling windows that let in beautiful natural sunlight. The sun hits these whimsical, almost 18k-gold-looking sculptures on their shelves, giving the shop an elevated feel. The shop is small- but it's the kind of place where you want to slow down and really look around. Manahel offers a nice variety of Yemeni honeys, each with its own benefits. I ended up choosing a ginger honey and another infused with lemon, while my mom went with the ginger for herself too. In addition to honey, they also carry oils for hair and skin, which was a nice bonus and made the shop feel more holistic instead of it being one-note. Let's talk price- it's definitely on the steeper side. The smallest jars I purchased were about $30 each. For me, it felt like it was for the greater good- especially since I teach and my students are always sick. It was quality, intention and something I'm actually using for my health and wellness. There are still a few other items I have my eyes on. Honestly, Manahel feels like a 3-in-1 spot where beauty, their tradition and wellness come together- and that to me, makes it worth to return.

It really feels like a home cooked meal made with care. While the prices aren't the cheapest, the quality and taste absolutely justify it. You can tell there's a lot of attention put into each dish. My personal favorite is the lechon kawali paired with their garlic rice. It is crispy, rich, and packed with flavor. The dining space itself is cute, cozy, and very clean, making it a perfect little date night spot. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which adds to the overall experience. It isn't the fastest service, so I wouldn't recommend coming here if you're on a time crunch. It's a great place to sit down and relax, and really enjoy the food. One thing to keep in mind is that their hours can be a bit unusual, so it's definitely worth checking ahead before you go. Location-wise, it's also a great stop. It is just a short walk from the local brewery and the rail trail, making it an ideal place to grab a meal after a walk or before heading out for a couple of beers. Overall, a fantastic spot if you're looking for comforting, high quality Filipino food in a cozy setting.

But there are a few universal similarities with Latin food: rice, seafood (because I'm a pescatarian) and garlic- to name a few. Then there's their halo-halo dessert. So when Hapág Bistro popped up in my Yelp pages- in Highland, NY no less and conveniently close to work- I was in. Hapág is cozy the second you step in here. My eyes immediately went up to the ceiling where these folks have faux greenery+florals hanging across the space. It actually softens Hapág and adds a little "nature". I was here on a tight clock and didn't have time to sit down for a full meal. But while I looked at the menu at work, one thing immediately jumped at me: halo-halo. This thing is sweet. It's a sweet explosion of shaved ice, creamy ube goodness, jellies, fruit and leche flan tucked in like little treasures. Then comes the ice cream on top tying the whole shit together. Every spoonful is cold, creamy and sugary in the best way. Shoutout to my girl Danielle, who was super pleasant and had one of those smiles that totally makes the place feel even more welcoming. Next time I'll actually stay long enough to eat real food- but for a quick pop-in, Hapág came out on top with dessert alone.
