Beacons is a lovely small town with potential to grow as a thriving micro downtown. There's a brewery (my favorite of all breweries) and plenty of vintage shopping. What it does lack, however, is a standalone boba shop. While Asahi is, first and foremost, a poke restaurant, it does offer a selection of boba teas and slushies. The weather had just turned from dreary cold to summery hot, so I was craving my favorite Asian drink. After some hand-wringing (I couldn't decide which one to get), I finally settled on an iced strawberry tea with milk foam. I wasn't confident in my order, but all my anxieties allayed at first sip. It was delicious! The boba was soft, the strawberry flavors came through strongly without tasting artificial, and the milk foam added a complex layer of creaminess and saltiness that elevated the drink altogether. ABSOLUTE BANGER. Location-wise, taste-wise, price-wise, I don't understand why you wouldn't come here. Every other poke spot is miles and i mean MILES away. Why not go to charming Beacon and get yourself a poke bowl for a reasonable price? Especially, if you're around the area or across the river. The beverages are superb and a must try. Great find in Beacon!! Casual setting, reasonably priced and delicious. I'm not the type of person that likes to order on a screen, so to me, the ordering system is a bit overwhelming as there were a lot of selection and wide range of choices once your dish was selected.... For example, I got the poke bowl with 2 protein but then had to proceed with choosing the rest of the toppings on the screen. It would be a bit easier if there are pictures of each toppings as some items are not so familiar to me. It won't deter me from coming back tho. Friendly staff and quick service. It was one the of the hottest days of the summer and after going on a little adventure to Bannerman's Island, we needed a little pick me up called boba tea. Asahi was the perfect place equipped and ready to make us happy with exactly what we wanted. From Thai tea to taro, this place serves up the classics plus their very own fruity and fun specials which is what I ended up going for. I couldn't resist their beautiful seasonal purple drink with lemon and pea flower with little surprise bursts of flavor lychee boba. It was delicious, refreshing and so good!! When ordering milk tea, I always do slightly less sweet and less ice. For this one I kept the sweetness as it was and did less ice which I totally should've known not to since it was for sure one of the hottest days and it quickly melted away. I will say, since the boba bursts with lychee sweetness, I could've for sure gone down a bit on the sweetness level. Other than that, it was delish! Summertime is a great time for some poke bowls and sushi. I love this place and the people - they are very welcoming. We ordered poke bowls with half white rice and half greens as a base. Stopped at Asahi for a quick lunch while attending a conference in town. Well, the lunch wasn't really quick. I made a mistake ordering a shrimp tempura roll, not realizing that it takes extra time preparing it. Most of my lunch hour I was waiting for my food to come out. When the roll came out, it was fresh but tasted just okay, I was expecting something more flavorful. My colleagues ordered poke bowls that they enjoyed (and received a lot faster!) Well the staff was very friendly and offered menu items even let me sample the honey wasabi sauce to see if I wanted it in pokey bowl. Also staff was very organized and made sure to repeat my order to ensure it was correct. The blue crab fantastic roll was just that fantastic and packed with blue crab and plenty of eel which rare since usually you get a small amount in rolls. Overall the roll was worth it and definitely flavorful from spicy sauce and BBQ eel. As for the pokey bowl, that's awesome you get as many toppings as you like, I paid extra to get shrimp and spicy tuna, but with crab salad topping I essentially got three proteins. As much as I did like honey wasabi sauce it does get too much and my sinuses let me know. The ponzu jalapeño sauce I could not taste or notice buried. Still this place is only place with customizable poke bowls, gets points in my book, since you can get a different bowl and new experience every time, rather than boring pre selected. This afternoon, my friend had a variety of their sushi, which he said was the freshest he's ever tasted. I had a Large Jasmine Milk Tea with no sugar (I didn't miss it!), extra Boba (Honey/Crystal) and Regular Ice. Also, I had a Poke (pronounced "po-kay") Bowl with Brown Rice, cooked Tofu, Salmon and Shrimp. Also, I had toppings: cucumber, edamame, green onion, Sweet Corn, Red Onion, Grape Tomatoes, Broccoli, Mango and Avocado. Also, I had the Non-Spicy House Poke Sauce, along with a garnish oc Cashew Nuts. We had our meals at the table and enjoyed the ambience of the immaculate, clean restaurant. Made my own poke bowl! This place is fantastic and a great addition to Beacon. I ordered the two protein bowl which were the spicy tuna and spicy salmon which were incredibly good. The fruit in my bowl was fresh and sweet too. I wish I had taken a photo but definitely recommend checking them out. The service was quick even though it was busy.
