It is okay. Parking and traffic are a hassle and will take awhile. However, just like the Fair, trams are available to bring you to the gate. There was no security, you simply scan your ticket and walk in. While it may seem like a lot of food booth, many of them are identical with different names. There are almost little to no seating areas outside of the music stage. Lines will be long with nowhere to eat and enjoy your food. Food options are similar to what you find at the Oceanside Sunset Market. Nothing unique.

FOODIELAND YEAR 25 Wow this place was a disappointment. From the traffic jams colliding all together, to the unorganized ticket scanning, and overpriced items, the management team needs to rethink this entire event. This was my first time attending Foodieland, and I purchased parking tickets & tickets to get in prior online, it's a cheaper cost then getting it in person ($2-4 cheaper than original price). Once getting into the turning zone of Foodieland into parking, it was horrifying to see 4 different lines, people cutting and swerving to get into one place. Super unorganized and created traffic jams, felt so bad for the locals living in Del Mar or those who wanted to simply past by. Entering the place was as normal as farmers market, just wide, and food places wrapped around. All of the items were overpriced, like you wouldn't see anything below $20, and if it is, it's the size of your hand. I decided to get the Giant Squid, coming out to whopping $29, it was pretty good because I really enjoyed calamari. Seasoning was eh, could be better. The workers were so sweaty taking my order and cooking. My boyfriend went to a filipino place to get some pork (Lechon), and it was a whopping $22 for like 5 pieces and wet rice. Overall, hated that place, avoid all the filipino restaurants or places you can't see make your food, they are STINGY. Overall, wouldn't come back, I paid overall $50+ for two items, parking was $16 (online) and $9 for a ticket to enter. I hope this event has better vendors, better prices, and more structure.

The advertisement is WAY better than the actual venue! This was basically a fair with no attractions. There really was no authentic food that made me excited. The lines were LONG! Almost all the food was fried! It was expensive!!! I definitely will not be attending this event anymore.

For starters entering this place. Went on Saturday late afternoon Took us three hours to get off for this exit. Once we got off the exit and turned left to head into the area people on the opposite side were u- turning and cutting in for the parking line. That alone will deter me from coming back to this venue. some vendors sold out early on by the time we were inside The lines were crazy long took 30 mins to order and another 30 mins to receive the order .

I actually enjoyed myself this year. Usually traffic is crazy, vendors are unorganized. I decided to change the date and go first thing Sunday and everything was easy breezy. Noticed that almost every vendor had more help in their booths so they were moving quite quickly. We breezed through every stall we wanted to try and was out in about 2 hours.

This was my family's third time going to the state fair in San Diego located in Del Mar fairgrounds. To get more bang for your buck, purchase your tickets from Costco for $100.00 and you will get 4 admission tickets 40 credits for rides and book of coupons for food and drinks. The fair normally comes around the first weekend of June and ends around the 4th of July. San Diego's perfect weather makes the experience more enjoyable and a great place to make family memories. There is plenty of things to do from concerts, to eating fried cheese on a stick and jumbo turkey leg, many different vendors and souvenirs. Mark your calendar for next year.

Foodieland was a night of shock and awe. Arrived from a weekend getaway at Palm Springs and made it to Day 3 in Del Mar. Traffic coming in was ridiculous. The lack of having a shuttle into the event made it a nightmare. Basically, it's the San Diego County Fair, minus the fair. There are tons of food and drink options as well as carnival games. A decent amount of staff to keep things moving along but definitely a shortage of trash bins. I noticed a bunch of recycle bins that were being used as trash bins. The shock of paying to enter and the awe of paying to park! Food and drink prices were crazy expensive and I'm not cheap by any measure. Lines were super long to order and pick up. Restroom lines were even worse. Traffic leaving was even worse. Price of admission should have been used as a promo for a drink or food! This would encourage people to spend more... Been there, done that and will most likely skip it for a long time. Long story short, having spent $30 to get in and another $100 on food, I probably would have preferred a nice meal in a fancy steak house lol.

First time at Foodieland San Diego and had a great time. I attended Foodieland Berkeley in 2021 and was not impressed by the quality of the food but I think I got my money's worth at today's event. Saturday was a SOLD OUT event and it really showed by the huge crowds and full parking lots. The crowd seemed to stay past 10pm as well although the event closed. I parked in the back lot at Wave Volleyball Club FOR FREE and left at 10:30pm, just in time before the gate closed. The trek from National City to Del Mar was about an hour including traffic and parking time so plan your day accordingly. This year I also got free tickets for the Stussy Outlet and got discount Stussy brand clothing. I recommend reserving tickets so you don't have to wait in the standby line but there was only 1 cashier so I waited in the purchasing line for a good 45 minutes after browsing. There were over 175 vendors and plenty of options to choose from. I suggest going in a group to share plates and try as many vendors as your heart desires! Come earlier to avoid messy parking and capture nice pictures of the food. My only suggestion to make the event better is to offer more hand washing stations and visible bathrooms. The bathrooms were hidden and difficult to find. To avoid messy eating, bring gloves and hand wipes! Overall, a really fun event that I plan to go to again next year!

    Steak and mushroom meat pie

After reading various reviews for Foodieland in other cities (Berkeley, Sacramento), I wasn't sure about how this event would go. We went to the following vendors: Aunty Devi's Meat Pies - steak and mushroom meat pie $9 Island Life Foods - uni poke $25 Kusanijavenjesel - bone marrow tacos $25 Lilikoi Boba - tropical delight w/boba $10 All Things Ube Desserts - ube cookie & ube white chocolate cookie $3.50 per cookie Observations: Big Baby Bottle was a hit - I saw a ton of people walking around with their big baby bottles. The lines were very long, and there were a multitude of them. Same with those J Hawaiian cones, but Big Baby Bottle definitely seemed like they had the longest. Iced Above also had quite a long line as well, in addition to Big Grandma's Kitchen Food Truck. Some vendors for some reason had the longest lines, and others didn't, and that didn't necessarily indicate the quality of the food. I noticed that a lot of the dessert and drink vendors had the longest lines, and I wasn't clear as to why that might be. Not sure if it was instagram-influenced. Aunty Devi's Meat Pies: I personally have wanted to try Aunty Devi's Meat Pies for the longest time, ever since I discovered having returned from a trip to New Zealand. I haven't made it out to any of their farmer markets or out to Escondido which tend to be further for me, so I was happy I finally got to try their meat pie here. It definitely was reminiscent of my experiences there and I want to return to grab more frozen pies. Kusanijavenjesel: The bone marrow tacos, while good, was difficult to taste the flavor of the bone marrows since it is mixed in with beef. I would have liked to have gotten in line for Bone N' Marrow instead, but I was stuffed already. All Things Ube: The ube cookie unfortunately was dry, but the ube white chocolate cookie was perfectly moist. The flavor of it was great for both. I love how popular ube has become - there are a lot of Filipino vendors at Foodieland which is great. Lots of meat centric dishes here, some vegan, desserts and drinks, but I could have used some greens LOL. Line length is really hit or miss. There are so many different foods to try with the main problem of one's stomach only being able to eat so much. I had contemplated at the beginning of the day whether or not to pack containers to store desserts I couldn't finish, or buy if I couldn't fit any more food into my stomach, but didn't do this. I might do this if I ever return again. Price: Foodieland definitely is on the spendier side. My boba drink for $10 was rather eye popping. $25 for the uni poke bowl was mostly reasonable, given they gave me 6 pieces of uni, in addition to tuna poke. If you want to save on tax, use cash even though most of the vendors accept Apple Pay and credit cards. Then there is the base payment of $5 entrance price + $10 parking. Entertainment: The entertainment was amusing - a flutist, a singer that sung pretty well near the lawn where most people were eating and chilling, even lion dancing. General Advice: I'd recommend going early mainly to just avoid having to park in the dirt lot (which we ended up having to do, and we arrived around 5pm), but the unfortunate exchange for going earlier is the heat. Despite arriving at the fairgrounds around 5, it didn't take until 7pm to become a little bit more manageable. The heat definitely got to us, given the hot foods we were eating, and the general exchange of heat due to the vendors cooking and the amount of people. How I would tackle it: The group I went with made it difficult to organize, but if you are a foodie through and through and want to maximize eating from various vendors as possible and the people you go with are on the same page, I would go armed with a list of vendors you want to check out, each person in the group go to a vendor buy the food item and bring back to a centralized location to share and eat together. That way you can try as many foods as you can. Summary: I had so many more places I wanted to try out, but I could only fit so much into my stomach, which was disappointing. All in all, I was able to try quite a bit between my boyfriend and me in a three hour span. If you like to try a variety of different foods and have the convenience of it all in one place, I'd definitely recommend going to Foodieland. Some of the vendors are local to SD, others to LA County, some I couldn't even find information on, so there definitely is a lot more to offer than just the standard farmers market. But keep in mind that prices are pretty high, it's going to be hot if you go early (but more things will be available also as an exchange). Keep your expectations low. Pick a few places you want to go to ahead of time and prioritize what you want to eat in case there are long waits. Wear sunscreen or bring sun protective clothing, bring water, and wear comfortable shoes to walk around

What an adventure! Only $5 to get in. Had to buy tickets in advanced online. No tickets at the gate. First 2 days were sold out over a week before. There were around 150 venders. It's a foodie's paradise! Not your typical fair food even though there was some there. Go with a group so you can try lots of things! We had 6 of us so it worked well. Black truffle cream pasta, dim sum dumplings, Vietnamese tacos, garlic chili shrimp on rice, lumpia and ponsit, sweet jerk chicken fries with greens and plantains, and honeycomb Hawaiian snorkels filled with vanilla soft serve! I really wanted to try the root beer cotton candy but we were full and no one wanted to share it with me! There was so much more to try but we ran out of tummy room!! Down sides... long lines and everything was around $20 each order. So it wasn't cheap, thats for sure. BUT, we will definitely go again!

Excited that a food festival similar to the 626 Night Market came to San Diego! Tickets were $5 and can be bought online which was great, parking was easy at the racetrack ($10) and we got in right away. Our ticket time was 4pm on Saturday so I feel like it was before and after peak lunch/dinner times so lines weren't outrageously long. As expected, the actual food was pricy and because portions were like a regular dish size it was hard to try multiple things. I feel like this experience would be way more fun if I was able to have smaller portions so I can try more businesses. Or even for a more expensive admission ticket, a stamp card type set-up where you get to try a handful of vendors. There were over a hundred vendors so there are tons of foods to pick from!

    Robert H.

This is a must experience event. My only complaint is the traffic getting there and leaving, but what do you expect when you see all this event has to offer. The food vendors are diverse and the food is magnificent. Choose your time of arrival wisely because parking will become and issue and the larger the crowd the longer the lines. I will definitely be back.

This dynamic is welcomed to most people because they get to socialize and buy more then just fresh fruits and veggies. The only thing I am critical about is the organization of the booth space that allows the flow of people in better safety and comfort. I assume there was some store front push back that wanted 100% of there sidewalk available and clear surfing the market but what that has done has jammed too many people in what is obviously a "narrow space" to walk. It would be a fair and SAFE compromise to use 50% of the sidewalks on each side and adjust back the venders booths giving people 5 feet more in the middle to walk around. It would be easier to do this rather then assume or ask people to not stand around creating bottlenecks or be considerate of others and move like a car on a road. Expect to drive around for parking if you are not local enough to walk to the event and crowding due to the popular area it is in, live music, fresh foods and drinks as well as plenty of unique crafts and clothing.

So, why go with this system and at a $8,000 price tag? It was nice to visit and for it to be in this location in Del Mar. it's a very pretty area. It was odd to see the actual buildings because we usually come here for the fair and the buildings are obscured by tents and kiosks. More than ample seating for this event and table/ bar top for every chair! Gone are the days of trying to balance your food/ drink on your knees in some crowded rodeo seating. With VIP tickets, my wife and I had access to gourmet food/ snacks, early access to the venue, exclusive offerings from the brewers, and a few cocktails to boot! Very much worth the premium. The venue was much cooler/comfortable than the rodeo area where the fest had previously been staged. A Jimmy Buffet cover band ( sorry folks I didn't catch your name :( ) provided just the right amount of laid back "margaritaville" vibe. If you couldn't have the real Jimmy Buffet, these folks fill the void nicely! When the general beer fest began, it was very easy to walk down the stairs from the VIP lounge to the general fest area. With the ample amounts/variety of food available, we were able to have both lunch and an early after beer fest dinner in the VIP area! This years offering seemed just a little bigger than last years, but the addition of a few distilleries and new venue made for a substantially better time overall. AWESOME!!! The organizers of this fest have raised the bar and set a new standard for beer fests! -1 star Despite the awesome venue and AC amenities, it missed the mark in just a few areas. Signage for the breweries was nice, but unlike previous years, there was no mention of what was being offered at said table. That is, one had to stand in line to get close enough to see if you were even interested in that particular brewers offerings. This made for a lot of wasted time as not everyone was familiar with every brewery and their respective offerings. In addition to having to stand in line only to discover there was nothing my wife cared for( she's not really into IPAs the prevalent offering it seems) but, unlike previous years, there was little representation from the breweries themselves. It seems most everyone behind the tables were volunteers who has little knowledge of what they were serving. I asked what they had to sample and they had to look at the can to see what it was. I asked for the pale ale and had to tell them " the red can" because they seemed to have no clue about what they were pouring. I appreciate someone sacrificing their time to serve beer to a bunch of strangers. I really do. I just miss being able to converse with someone who knows a little about the product and what other beers they have available or coming soon. For these reasons I would subtract a star. Fix these minor issues and it's 5 stars all day long. Overall, a " don't miss this next year" kind of an event. Well done!

My friends usually get VIP ($110) which includes a 6oz glass tasting glass and access to free food. I don't think the food is worth it and even with the bigger pours, you can only drink so much in 4 hours anyways. There's tons of breweries that make it out but they're more so normal beers from these breweries, so don't expect any special beers. There's tons of vendors also selling food and merchandise. My biggest gripe about this beer festival is that there are mostly volunteers pouring beers and you don't really get to talk beer with the brewmasters or people from the brewery. Overall, I'd still go to hang out with friends, but it's definitely overpriced if you don't plan on going into the fair at all.

I've been coming to this event every year since it started and it's my favorite event of the year…read more This year I went both days and had another wonderful time. The food, the vendors, the weather, the location, the libations, and the people who put it all together really make it special. Every year I have a favorite thing that I ate. The first year I had VIP so I won't count the fantastic things I ate in there, but outside it was probably Tanner's and all the Brandt beef. The second year was either an enoki mushroom taco or hamachi crudo. This year it was Matsu's yellowtail flown in from Japan the night before. I look forward to this event every year and every year has been a bit different but I never leave disappointed. Looking forward to 2026

The third annual Del Mar Wine + Food Festival was held last month at the Surf Sports Park on Via De…read moreLa Valle. The venue was the soccer practice fields of the local women's professional club, the San Diego Wave. Having also attended the previous versions, this year's Grand Tasting weekend was even larger with over 300 vendors and close to 10,000 attendees over the two days. I have volunteered each time to help with different aspects of the festival including some of the ancillary events earlier in the week. One of the benefits of setting up on these grounds was that there was plenty of open space. The walk to reach some of the displays was quite far, and I felt bad at how isolated those vendors were. The VIP tent was placed in the back unlike the inaugural year when it was closer to the main entrance. Another aspect that I appreciated was the nearby on-site parking. The charge was $20 per vehicle, but the proximity was worth the price. They may want to improve the dirt road leading to the lot as it was filled with potholes. An area of needed enhancement was a closer drop-off/pick-up zone for attendees using a ride share service. I witnessed many people being dropped off where the toll booths were located. That meant a walk of over half a mile to reach the festival entrance which was not a good situation for those who were nattily dressed for the occasion. Perhaps a dedicated section located near the vendor entrance on the west end of the fields would be a solution. Upon checking in, we each received a bracelet that permitted in-and-out privileges and a complimentary wine glass commemorating the event. There were several spots that had sofas, chairs, stools, high top tables, etc where you could relax and enjoy the food and beverages. I still think more seating and shade were needed given the amount of unused space that was available. A kiosk near the entrance displayed a map of the grounds with all of the participating vendors listed. The different zones were also shown on the map. What was missing was the identification of which vendors were in each zone. That linkage would have been useful to guide attendees of where to find their favorite businesses. More such kiosks would have been beneficial too. My observation was that the Saturday spread was better than the one on Sunday. The diversity of offerings was also not as impressive this time. For example, we noticed that there were minimal dessert samples offered. Other than Jeni's Splendid Ice Creams, where were the sweet treats like cookies, donuts, and pastries? I was also looking for a greater variety of seafood items. I didn't find any vendors using lobster or scallop and yet, caviar was used by a couple of places. The Brandt Beef zone was popular as different meat cuts provided by the purveyor were utilized to showcase the creations of the restaurants. The weather cooperated nicely on each day. A strong breeze kicked up occasionally which made objects (e.g. business cards and pamphlets) that were not secured a risk of becoming a flying hazard at the booths. Several more health and wellness vendors participated including one where you could receive a complimentary stretching session. A live demonstration stage was also added where you could watch chefs show off their skills like carving up a bluefin tuna. Overall, the DMWFF was a nice outdoor exhibition of the local culinary scene that will continue to grow and improve.

The admission price was average for a music festival. There are several stages playing different genres of music to cater to everyone. Headliner was decent this year. I thought the sound quality at some of the stages were horrible. The hot air balloon ride was cool. The one wheelie area to try out the newest cool toy was cool. Overall it was a decent experience.

My review comes from the position as a hang 10 which is the level just below the Ultimate Hang. I had a wonderful time this year and after they got the first day kinks worked out it was great. I was able to get my meet and greets worked in, saw several sets, and had a lot of fun. Hang 10 has their own pit up front plus an on stage platform. This year only one stage had platform viewing. Last year both stages had the platform. We have the opportunity to meet the artists and possibly see them in the Artists lounge. We have up front seating for the Humor me stage set and the side of the Palate n play stage (chefs demos and some music groups). I saw Richard Blias there. We have golf carts with drivers that take us between the stages and valet parking. We have lunch and dinner service and drinks. I cant think of a better staycation than Kaaboo!

Just know that the pumpkins come from the farm so there's a scarce selection here. The only pros is that there are quite a bit of rides for small children. It cost $4 per ride or purchase their value pack and it'll come out to $3.33 per ride. You can also print out a free train coupon. Tickets don't expire and you can use it at other locations. You can spot the white tent from a far. It's in the same dirt over flow lot during San Diego Fair season which is located across the street. The pumpkins are in the white tent. Small ones in the center, a few rows of medium and large to your right. Then outside on the hay stacks are a few more irregular large size. Not much to see or any background that's photo worthy. There are two large tents with lunch tables outside to your right. To your left is the play area for kids, two private party tent area, one food truck. Center comprise of portable bathrooms. The pumpkins have sticker prices on them. You can buy craving kits at the counter and popcorn. There are two wheel barrels to borrow for those heavy ones.

Details: Family of 4, two toddler boys ages 3&5 Went on a weekend There's plenty of parking but don't take a freshly washed car, it will get dirty! You enter a giant tent with different sized pumpkins laying on the ground. To the right of the tent outside in the back there are a few more. It's not the most authentic pumpkin patch feel in regards to picking a pumpkin but the rest made up for it. Front and center is a ginormous fake pumpkin designed by an artist, it is for sale for $2000. Would be the ultimate decoration if it weren't so big, it doesn't break down and I don't know if it could handle rain. The cool thing is the artist is on site to design your freshly bought pumpkin!!! The artist, was phenomenal and could shave your pumpkin in 15 min into any design you showed him! It was difficult to communicate with him, but show him your picture and you can expect magic. I will admit we bought a $75 ginormous pumpkin and had our last time shaved I to it bc I had no artistic brain and the kids couldn't agreee on a superhero. It's now covered in mold unfortunately but it was amazing while it lasted! The artist charges $20 no matter the size and there's a tip box he absolutely deserves!! Head out back for all the carnival rides! I guarantee all us parents once rode these at a state fair at some point!!! There was a flying swing ride with the type of swing seats for babies at the park so my 3 year old was ecstatic, there were different bounce houses, a tiny train (if you go online, there's a coupon for a free train ride), a food tent that had hot dogs, burgers, fries and a few more options. Food wasn't super over priced which was great but food was eh. Each ride is 1 ticket. I believe we bought 12 tickets (6 for each kid) and it was $45ish. We spent probably 2 hours here. There's a bunch of hay with the giant pumpkins for sale that I saw many people taking pictures at. There were a few other ok spots for a picture of your kids. Overall, I'd recommend coming here, it's right off the 5, easy to get to, plenty of fun for littles. And it wasn't uncomfortably busy for a weekend.
