Prices are great and I'd only shop at food max if they carried organic Dino kale! The cashiers are very friendly.

This store can win a contest for the most rude and depressed workers without enthusiasm or just a simple smile. Suggest secret shopper so u can see for yourself. The workers on the floor talk among themselves or on there phones with ear phones. Not much help. Then u get to check stand. Even worse. Store closes at 12 but at 11 the lights to most aisles mostly frozen foods ARE OFF!! Like get out the store please we don't want you to be here this late. Only 1 line open. Its the only grocery store in Vallejo open late. There needs to be a whole new entire crew and change to the entire store.just a depressing place to shop. read more

great produce. i went last week and discovered they have a new discount system. a lot of things had discount prices listed but require you to be registered. they have no wifi, so i couldn't register. they wouldn't give the discount. i came home and registered online. the website is very slow, clunky, and confusing. there seems to be 3 or 4 types of discounts. pages load slowly and if you click on an item to find out more then try to return to browsing, it doesn't go back to where you started. there are big sales on some produce and meat items but i can't add them to my account. i wonder how I'm going to access my coupons when i get to the store that has no wifi. it has taken a half hour and I'm not sure if i will be able to get any discounts. even if they have some good prices on some things i am going to hate shopping there and seeing notices for "savings" all over the place that i can't get. i will quit going. if i am able to get the discounts, I'm going to hate having to spend a half hour ton the clunky website every time i want to go shopping. read more

I heart Foodmaxx! We started going here when we lived in Fairfield cause it was just down the street from our house, now I'm hooked! I am sorry for Lucky's gettin replaced, but I am happy for me to have FoodMaxx in Vallejo now that we moved back! This is the only one of the "cheap" stores where I can actually find some of my natural food products marked down, on a consistant basis! I buy stuff like RiceDream, soymilk, Raley's brand Pure Maple Syrup, brown free-range eggs, Udi's gluten free breads and bagels, Amy's natural gluten-free dairy-free Mac n Cheese, and more! If they start carrying even more of my products AND make their store stop smelling so chemically I'll give them more stars. read more

Was very skeptical about learning this would be replacing Lucky's months ago. To my surprise, it's a very nice store. It resembles Food 4 Less, only better. It's less stockroomyish (haha, created a new word) and feels like a "very bright" Safeway. The staff are very helpful. It's apparent this store will survive since they moved the enter and exit doors to one place allowing view of possible thieves walking out of store with carts full of grocery's - this was a big problem with Lucky's having doors out of view of staff. You won't find small baskets for a quick shop, though this is good because patrons of Lucky's just took those home because of course they were, "Entitled." I will keep an eye on parking lot and see if it become neglected over time like Food 4 Less tends to be periodically. read more

Besides those, they offer products not found elsewhere, The store sports spacious aisles, bright lighting, an inviting center doorway. When Albertsons built the plaza, they aimed to have the best grocery store in Vallejo, as Lucky took over and ruined the vibe, the FoodMax conversion reedemed the store. read more

Terrible service. Long lines, rude employees, dirty store. Avoid like the plague because you'll probably get it if you go there.

Great retail merchandising. Bottled water is cheaper & occasionally there are reduced prices on shelf items. Chicken broth $.69, instead of $2.89 at Safeway. I bought all they had on the shelf. Self- checkout is great. Staff is friendly & knowledgeable. read more

FoodMaxx is a brand. In San Francisco and other places, the same investors own FoodMaxx and Food-4-Less. In Vallejo, the same investors owned Lucky, then changed the brand in their own store to FoodMaxx. Almost everything that was in Lucky is here in the rebranded store. The prices are different on lots of things, but it is the same company buying the same products from the same suppliers in the same size packages and selling them to the same customers, so how long the reduced prices are going to stay lower than Lucky is anybody's guess. During the "grand opening" phase the prices are lower which is nice. Before, Lucky was a store I shopped as a last resort, just because it was closest. I went to Food-4-Less, Smart & Final, and Grocery Outlet before shopping Lucky. Now I don't get to those other stores too much, although they each have some favorite items that I get the best deals on. The meat selection at FoodMaxx has been greatly reduced, but I was not a big meat buyer so that affects my roommate more than me. My roommate also misses the expanded wine selection they used to have at Lucky. I would say I save 20% over what the same items used to cost at Lucky, and even Food-4-Less feels expensive to shop now compared to FoodMaxx. I would like a much larger selection of "diet" and "sugar free" items, as I am diabetic, and no store in Vallejo really cares to serve that customer group. read more

When this store opened as a replacement to Lucky's (which was a replacement for Albertson's), the store was clean, the shelves, well-stocked, and, while the customer service was not everything one finds at a "service" supermarket, the low prices more than made up for it. Unfortunately, that is no longer the case. The store is frequently dirty, the items of the shelves are old or out-of-date, and some of the clerks are incredibly rude. read more
