Amari and Madelynn are the absolute best! Not just photographers but people as well. We had them shoot our engagement photos as well as our wedding and we couldn't be happier with them! They are super easy to work with, not pushy, and very relaxed. Amari is always looking for a photo with the best lighting in it while Madelynn is cracking jokes and taking candid ones while you are unaware. They do such a great job at capturing the intended photos and my personal favorite, the ones that you don't know are being taken. Madelynn and Amari were incredible to work with: super relaxed, fun, non-stressful to be around and yet both clearly take the photography itself very seriously. I feel like we totally lucked out finding them. The way they take pictures is so natural, it almost looks like dancing. One of the favorite moments of the night was a bunch of my friends getting in a huge pile on the floor, and then looking up to see Amari right there snapping a picture, and everyone smiling for him. It was already a glorious moment, but when we realized we were being photographed, it extended the feeling exponentially. I should add that they're a breeze to work with. I interviewed several photographers before I found them, and ran into weird difficulties regarding the terms of the contracts. I didn't have unusual demands, but my parents are both lawyers and a little picky about those things. Madelynn and Amari were so refreshing in this regard. My parents found one small thing in the contract they wanted to change the wording on. Madelynn & Amari's response? "What a great suggestion, we'll build that into all our future contracts!" Amari and Madelynn are the amazing husband and wife duo behind Foot Candles. Hiring them to photograph our wedding last December was one of the best decisions we made. To start off, their photography is some of the best we've seen among professional wedding photographers. They're great at capturing both candid moments and arranged portraits. Their photos captured perfectly the feel of our wedding and I know we'll treasure those pictures for a lifetime. Besides their stunning artistry, Amari and Madelynn distinguished themselves by being all-around great people to work with. They were so nice in every communication. Months before the wedding, we had an intro session over lunch where they took care to learn all about our story, our families, and our vision for the wedding. They were never pushy. We just worked with Amari and Madelynn yesterday on an "aftershoot" and we are so happy with how our day went. We cant wait to see the pics, but just based on how the session was, I had to review! When looking for a photographer we talked to a couple others, but right when Madelynn called she asked what WE wanted. What look WE were going for, what location WE wanted to use. She made it very obvious from the start that this was going to be about us and capturing exactly what we were looking for, not her own agenda, which was so refreshing. Amari and Madelynn did an amazing job as our wedding photographers for our September 2014 wedding. Seriously, my husband and I both feel so lucky and grateful that we ended up with them! We were first drawn to them because we wanted a photographer who would really capture the moments of the day, rather than focusing on a bunch of posed, formal pictures, and who would give us beautiful photographs that we would enjoy looking at for the rest of our lives. If you have seen their portfolio on their website, you know that this is exactly their approach and we were so thrilled with the photos we ended up getting from them. In fact, it's been nine months later and we *still* can't narrow down which ones we want to print to put in an album -- there are just too many wonderful ones! The other thing that ended up being so valuable was having a duo of photographers, so that it felt like none of the important moments of the evening were lost. For example, my grandmother got sick just after the ceremony and had to leave before the reception started and either Amari or Madelynn surreptitiously came into the room where we were waiting with her for her cab and took a few shots of us as we spent some private moments with her; meanwhile, the other photographer was back in the reception area photographing all of the rest of our guests. It was also wonderful that they were able to spend the day with my husband and I as we were separately getting ready; one of my favorite post-wedding experiences was seeing all of the photos of my husband getting ready with his groomsmen while I had been elsewhere. Another thing we loved about working with Madelynn and Amari was how thoughtful and receptive they were towards what we wanted and what was important to us. Our wedding was relatively small (about 80 people) and many of the guests were from out of town, so it was really important that we be able to spend as much time with them as possible, rather than being off getting formal shots done for a long period of time. Did they deliver! Madelynn had all the efficiency of a military commander, getting my husband's and my formal shots taken, then some formal shots taken with our families. It was awesome! And Amari had come out to the venue the week before to figure out the best location for these shots, so we were really able to get them done with little or no downtime. On top of all this, they are just a lovely, friendly, easy-to-work with pair of people. They both have great people skills and the experience of spending our entire wedding day with them was, quite honestly, really special. We had so many guests comment to us throughout the night and afterwards how much they enjoyed chatting with Madelynn or Amari and, more than that even, how much they enjoyed seeing a married couple work together so lovingly and easily. It might sound crazy, but it added a note to the whole celebration that so many people felt and that we were richer for having. Seriously, we feel like we hit the wedding photographer jackpot and hope we have occasion to call on them again for something in the future! read more

From the beginning to end, our experience with Madelynn and Amari was been beyond excellent! We were incredibly fortunate to have been referred to them through a friend of ours who had seen their amazing work from another wedding. Our wedding was a destination wedding, so we held our first "meeting" over Skype... We instantly we felt comfortable with them and 3 hours later (they are that FUN to talk with) we knew we had not only found extremely TALENTED photographers who were passionate and professional, but AMAZING people who would only add to the great energy we wished for our wedding, and that they did! They are the type of people you want in your life and of course capturing your life's special moments. They far exceeded our expectations! Throughout the planning process we were extremely impressed with their responsiveness and expertise. They were attentive in responding to any and every little question we had, making us feel as though we were the only wedding they were shooting (which we knew was so far from the truth). They not only spent a great amount of time getting to know us, but also a great deal of energy familiarizing themselves with our wedding venue which was a playground of amazing scenery. Their dedication certainly showed as the shoots on the day of our wedding were seamless. The location selections and light source that they had planned was gorgeous, stylish and was expertly choreographed in so many ways. It was though they camped out for a several days, picked the most amazing spots and then noted the best time/ light to shoot there. We were blown away. Throughout the event they were smooth in maneuvering through the crowd. We've seen a lot of photographers, but none touch the essence of this dynamic team. Madelynn and Amari are the best. They were with us the entire day. We spent a great amount of time with Madelynn and Amari while getting ready, dressing, hair, makeup, snacking, and drinking to dancing it up on the dance floor. When they weren't discreetly capturing moments behind the corner (if you will) they were right there where the fun was going on. I don't know how at all possible, but it seemed like they were everywhere they needed to be at exactly the right moment. It makes a world of difference to be comfortable and also enjoy the company of your photographers. Their passion for the art is evident in their outstanding work. It's only a month after our wedding and we've already received a stunning slideshow of the most amazing shoots from our wedding, which we more than LOVE. I have been smiling ever since I laid eyes on them as I got to relive our wedding in even a greater way by being present in the moments I could not have been and being able to relive the moments I was in an entirely different way. They have such keen and artistic eyes. Not only did they capture so many special gems, our friends, family, and the subtle but rich details, but they also captured the essence and emotions of us and our special day. They are true artists. Simply put, Amari and Madelynn are awesome. When my wife and I got married a couple of years ago the one thing I insisted on for the wedding was a good wedding photographer. A few of our friends had used Amari and Madelynn for their weddings and all had great things to say, so, despite being a fairly picky person due to dabbling a bit in photography myself, I checked out their blog and portfolio and was instantly hooked. I loved, loved, loved their use of primes and the cinematic feel of the final product. When we contacted them I was slightly worried that they might be out of our price range, but they were surprisingly reasonably priced and were amazingly flexible to get us exactly what we wanted for a price we could afford. I've seen tons of other wedding photographers who charge approximately the same price as Amari and Madelynn and none of them have had comparable quality. Not only are their shots visually beautiful, but like any good cinematographer or photojournalist, Amari and Madelynn's shots tell a story. If you want to have wedding photos that you can look back on years later and still thoroughly enjoy, please, use these two. Highly, highly recommended. Since our wedding I think they've shot at least 4-5 of our friends' weddings. Besides being great at photography, the thing that I love about Amari and Madelynn is that they're incredibly personable, very nice, and overall just fun to be with--Madelynn even helped me out with the things on my tux that were foreign to me (thanks for the well-folded pocket handkerchief!). They made the after-ceremony shoot a blast. A few days ago for our second anniversary, my wife even got a text from Madelynn wishing us a happy anniversary... All that being said, If I had an opportunity to go back and decide on our wedding photographer again, I would choose Foot Candles again in a heartbeat. I can't say enough good things about Madelyn & Amari. When we first saw their style of photos we knew we wanted them to be our photographers and even more so after we met them for coffee and ended up chatting for over 2 hours. On our wedding day they truly couldn't have been better, I was a little all over the place morning of and putting lots of last minute things together and they just slowly followed me always offering to help or grab things for me. We didn't want a ton of posed pictures but of course had some that we wanted and they made them as quick and painless as possible. I have at least a 100 favorites that I'm still trying to narrow down and it seems impossible. You forget that you will spend your wedding day with not only your husband/wife, but you will also spend so much time trying to squeeze everyone in and it makes it so much better when every time you turn around one them was capturing the moment with a smile on their face.
