Since this one, Evergreen Beauty looks to be the first one coming from the east, on the north side of Spadina, I went inside, at this basement spot and was greeted by Jessica, hailing from Beijing, China. I opted for the usual combo, 30 min reflexology and 60 minutes shiatsu. Her technique was quite good and she was able to muster some decent pressure which is what I was after. At this point I have to admit that I'm getting a little confused about which one is which as they are all starting to look very similar. To add to the confusion, some of the staff move around so if you find someone you would like to use again, you need to ask for their card and contact. They sometimes work at one spa, and then move to a different one in the area so you need to ask for their availably and not assume anything. As well, their business cards may be from another spa, and not the one you were in. And since their technique and training vary widely, it helps to know what you're in for. The reflexology was done in the massage room, which wasn't quite as good since she skipped the soaking in hot water part, which is good in that there's more time for massage, but bad in that the soaking seems to help relax your feet and feels great! Ask about the soaking when you put in your order as you can choose to have the feet first, or vice versa. And ask if they include soaking in the procedure. Nice spot in the north strip of Chinatown!

There is a huge sign on the wall that says QUIET, the massage ladies talked the whole time, it was not relaxing at all listening to their chatter. The basement was in fact dark and dingy. The chairs we sat in were covered in towels, who knows if they were clean. My massage was just ok, My husband enjoyed his foot massage, he said actually "that was great" I was not keen on the rubber gloves and massage cream that kept drying up on my skin. However, today my legs do feel moisturized. I was recommended this place by my nail salon. Sadly I will not return.

Unfortunately, I had a very negative experience with the Chinese gentleman at the front desk, who I believe may be the owner. Before leaving my house, I carefully counted my cash and brought the exact amount needed for the massage. When I handed him the money, he did not count it in front of me. A few seconds later, he came back and claimed that I was $10 short. I am certain I gave the exact amount, so I believe I was unfairly charged an extra $10. The situation felt dishonest and very upsetting. In my opinion, he handled the payment in an unprofessional way, and I felt as though I had been taken advantage of. Guys be very careful when paying cash make sure to count in front of them before leaving the counter. On the other hand, the female receptionist I spoke with was kind, polite, and helpful. I hope that if I return for another massage with Jessica, I won't have to deal with the same gentleman again because this experience left a very bad impression.

Who does that! I've been going there for years and have given Vivian (an excellent foot masseuse) a generous tip... but this time I did not.... for 2 reasons: 1 - I arrived early to find front desk lady and Vivian right outside the front door both smoking. This was a shock and it is a disgusting habit, so during my 45 minute foot massage, I struggled with the idea of her hands on my feet right after she smoked. 2 - The front desk reception lady was rude, has been in the past, when I asked about the TV not working properly... she dismissed my request. Then it was her that called me after I left, asking for a bigger tip, but never asked me why such a small tip, then she said "never book Vivian again". I am very sensitive to smokers, others could be allergic, and it is a vile and bad health habit and should be kept private, and at least done outside their back door which I know other staff go to... I would never book Vivian again because of her unfortunate smoking habit then touching my feet or body, but mostly the front desk lady is rude, has an attitude, and I truly hope the owner reads this post and takes action to correct this staffing issue... There are other posts citing similar problem with her...all other staff have been nice over the years. I have shared this story with 4 other people that were clients at Warden, and they said they will not go back to this location. We found a few other decent places.

There's the requisite tent sign on the sidewalk highlighting foot massage (reflexology) as well as a couple being massaged (sounds fun!). More rich content visuals adorn the front of this place and the lobby is well lit with an oriental-looking backdrop of bamboo to give it a friendly organic look. There's also a giant "465" above the door so you know where you are, and I like this over-communication so there's no mistakes. Upon entering I was instantly greeted by a friendly person and when I asked about shiatsu massage she instantly said 60 minutes and I nodded, ok! After having previously tried 45 min and then 30 min, it seemed silly not to spend the extra $10 to level up the experience with the 60/60 deal. I was not disappointed with that decision! There was some cheesy instrumental music playing in the background, which could have been louder but overall a pleasant experience. Starting with my first experience with rmt with expert Angela (miss you!) I noticed that when a massage is done right, my head gets congested (light headed too) and I feel like I'm getting a cold temporarily. Some parts of the massage hurt like when she used her fingers and toes to lessen the tension in my back and neck but nothing was unbearable. She focused on my back, shoulders, and legs. The deep tissue massages through my sore muscles was very much needed! I particularly enjoyed when she'd distribute her body weight by stepping on my back and legs. If you've never had someone step on your back, here's a place you can try it! Sandy also used Thai oil and it made my skin feel and smell amazing. I love how comfortable the room was with great smells, a comfortable massage surface, and really relaxing music. In addition for massages, I prefer if there's minimal talking and we didn't speak at all which was a bonus. I was so relaxed I drooled and was drifting to sleep! Have been going here several times with different masseuse and enjoy most of their massages. Definitely a relaxing experience and they end up giving you a sweet camomille tea as you pay. Yes, they'll ask if you're okay with 15% for tip but I haven't had an incident where I wanted to change it.
