About 4 years ago, I bought a pair of shoe inserts from Foot Solutions to help with my plantar fasciitis. They've worked perfectly and I haven't had a moment of foot pain. I'm so glad I didn't purchase expensive custom orthotics. Fast forward to today. My dog got hold of my boots and chewed up one of my inserts! When I arrived at Foot Solutions, there were a couple of people there in front of me and I was asked to wait safely in the lobby. When the person came out to escort back the elderly lady already waiting, he took my chewed up orthotic. Within minutes, he was back out with my new insert and even gave me a good sale price. Rick is the rudest customer service person I have ever dealt with. He actually yelled at me and threatened to cancel my case because I asked him to re-send the form that was need to fill my prescription. I was told "It's not my job to babysit you or your doctor". When I tried to speak, he just kept yelling. How am I supposed to know that Foot Solutions still needed a doctor's signature if he didn't notify me?! I wanted to verify that he had the correct fax number, since he kept referring to my male doctor as she, even though I corrected him several times. Rick was also rude and abrupt on my previous calls to Foot Solutions when I checked to see if he had my paperwork. Whatever you do, don't ask if your shoes are ready! So I found myself in feet misery. I'm usually on my feet a good nine hours at work and I gotta tell ya my feet were screaming for a divorce! Sometimes I was in so much feet misery I found it difficult to walk. What to do. What to do. I've bought several pair of Salomon's over the past several years and they just can't measure up. As I was surfing the internet I remembered Troy at Foot Solutions. Since my husband and I had a great experience with him a couple of years ago I went back. It was on a Tuesday. I pull up and go in only to realize that they are closed on Tuesdays! Oh no! No worries though as Troy was in the store doing whatever it is store owners do on their off days. He saw me and invited me in. I started explaining all my feet misery and Troy took control of the situation. Even though he was closed and had just stopped by his store to wrap up some loose ends he stopped what he was doing and focused all his attention on me and my feet misery. Troy took his time to explain everything in great detail including why my Salomon's weren't good for my feet and what would benefit me best. The Brooks that he recommended for me weren't in stock so he had to order them. In the mean time he gave me some free inserts to use with my Salomon's until the shoes came in! Cool! Although I did not find 100% relief from my feet misery, my feet are a whole lot happier and are no longer screaming for a divorce. Thank you Troy! I came in on Saturday morning, it was busy probably as the store has only limited weekend hours. Troy was very helpful - he saw the problems of my current minimalist-style shoe and provided an alternative which had everything I like and was needing. It feels great to walk, jog, and train in them! I have back problems so I am reflecting on all my choices, including shoes. He asked questions and assessed my feet, pronation, etc. He did not try to upsell me on anything at all, just sold me a nice pair of shoes, and took the time on a busy morning to measure and find the exact right size for me. I feel much more comfortable in them and I do like the one-to-one attention from a trained professional, I will come back when I wear these down and need a new pair. read more

Troy took care of me. I felt he really cared that my feet were hurting. He asked about what my doctor had recommended, and talked to me about my condition and some similar conditions. He recommended the same thing my doctor had recommended: This was news to me: Both my doctor and Troy recommended "metatarsal pads." I could have bought them over the internet, but wanted to give a local business a chance. Being kind of a cheap guy, I was glad that Troy's recommendation matched what I expected to pay over the internet. He also told me that if these didn't work for me, the next step would be custom shoes at $300 - $400. I'm glad that he recommended the lower cost solution. I tried this place once and have never had worse customer service. They do not return messages left on their voice mail, and the person who answered the phone has been extremely rude to me every time I have called. In addition, the quality of the work was terrible, and my inserts started curling up after the first time I wore them! I have worn my inserts for years and years, and walked all over Europe with them and never had a problem like this. I will never return. read more

I have had trouble with my feet for several years, and after visits to a podiatrist and physical therapy, with no relief, I found Foot Solutions. I was warned that they would just want to sell me expensive orthotics, but after visiting with Troy for a first visit, I was very impressed with his concern and his knowledge. He helped me to get into a pair of custom orthotics that were far better than what the podiatrist had given me. While they weren't cheap, they gave me significant and immediate relief. After about a year of using them, I went in again for new shoes, and for advice with feet that continue to hurt occasionally. Troy completely assessed my situation, adjusted the fit on my orthotics at no charge, and also recommended a high-quality pair of shoes. I am completely impressed with Foot solutions, and especially with Troy as a pedorthist. He is very knowledgeable, very caring, and has helped me immensely. I feel very welcome in the store, with no pressure at all to purchase anything, and I never feel that they are rushed in helping their customers. Sometimes, I feel like I have feet of gold or that they have an invisible million dollar price tag on them? Sometimes, I wonder why can't I have normal feet where I just go to Payless, and the first shoe I pick up off the shelf fits wonderfully. But no, my feet like designer Italian shoes and Israeli comfort shoes and other such nonsense, and I really don't have the pocketbook to keep up with their stupid appetite. My feet put up their noses to *normal* shoes. And that's what brought me to Foot Solutions. My feet were tired from their endless trek all over town (or several towns) trying to find shoes that actually worked for my finicky feet. But Ralph, the sage owner, and his helper saw my feet and knew what was up. I had (horns please) super high arches! Like such high arches that my feet scoff at the attempts of Chaco's and off the rack arch supports as utter nonsense. But Ralph had the perfect solution...a custom (expensive...cough) insert that was actually fit MY darn arches...made to fit my feet exactly . It sure has been an adjustment getting used to them...okay still an adjustment (after all Ralph pointed out, I've never, ever had that kind of support before). But I appreciate Ralph's expertise and knowing what to do with these silly feet. Disclaimer: Do expect to make "an investment", though, if you have finicky feet like mine. He does has cheaper options, but unfortunately, for my feet, there was nothing really cheaper that would make a big difference. Oh, but he does claim that the insert has a 10 year lifespan if I remember correctly. I sure hope so for that price... read more

I gave my daughter a gift certificate to replace a pair of her favorite nursing shoes that she had worn out. She had bought the shoes at a Foot Solutions store in Houston several years ago. Troy was the salesmen at the Austin store who helped her when she came to redeem the coupon. He sold her a similar shoe (a different brand, not as good a quality and not what she wanted) in a Size 8 and said that the company that manufactured her preferred. Her shoe size is 7 1/2. Troy told her that the shoe that she was buying was not manufactured in 1/2 sizes. After she left the store, she told me what had happened. The internet is a wonderful thing. We looked up what she purchased and they are made in 1/2 sizes (of course they are). The shoes that she wanted originally are available on line (although the manufacture has discontinued them). When he tried to return the shoes she was offered store credit, at a store that she will never buy anything else from again. The gift certificate was paid for with a debit card. Excellent customer service! I was referred to Foot Solutions by a friend whose husband needed custom orthotics. Ralph was extremely knowledgable and patient. He spent a good 30-45 minutes talking to me about my heel pain and suggesting a good insert to help correct the problem. He explained things in a super easy to understand way. I couldn't afford the custom inserts that were recommended to me but he had a non-custom alternative. I'll definitely be back and sending customers his way. If I could give more than five stars I would, and I'm a tough critic. I stand for at least eight hours a day, mostly standing in the same place, so my feet were definitely killing me. I did a lot of research and read several Yelp reviews before choosing this place because I knew how expensive orthotics could be, and I'm glad I did. When I walked in Troy immediately greeted me while he was with another customer and told me he'd be right with me. He took his time to study my feet and explain to me why my current orthotics weren't great, and the difference in materials and how that affects the quality of the orthotic. He fitted me for custom orthotics and I've been wearing them for three days and I already see a HUGE difference. He said if I had any problems to not hesitate to come back. It no longer hurts to walk, which is what prevented me from coming home and having to stand and cook. His store also has a wonderful personable family feel and his other employee was very helpful. It's evident that he truly cares about the comfort and well being of his patients. I will be recommending this place to my friends, thank you so much Troy! read more

I love Foot Solutions! Ralph was so knowledgeable and helpful - and a lot of fun too! I have very high arches and walk fairly long distances three to four days every week (from 5 -6 miles one day to 10-12 miles on other days). I recently purchased my second pair of Chung Shi's which are the perfect shoes for me because of the great arch support. One year ago I broke both of my ankles and my shin bone. Went in there yesterday and the guy was very professional. He made a recommendation on a shoe after taking some measurements and standing on a computer. Those shoes have made all of the difference in the world! I'm running with 0 pain now.
