Hubs and I come here anytime we're event thinking about getting new shoes. The selection is huge and there's typically a sale. I highly recommend checking out the clearance section! I was considering buying new sneakers in the future, but I found a deeply discounted pair that I bought them early. I've taken them out a few times, but my older shoes still have some life in them. My new ones are comfy and great for all the walking I'll be doing in them. Service is great. Hubs had a gift card to use and there was some issue that wasn't letting him clear a certain purchase. I don't know all the details about it, but we were helped by three different people until a manager called in to her help desk and got us going. Despite this being incredibly frustrating each person handled it with patience and humor. At no point did we catch any attitude, but if we had I would've understood. This store has great shoe options but the customer service is not good. My daughter found some shoes online there and it showed they had her size in stock. We went in and they didn't have her size out so we tried for 5 min to get someone to help us. One guy was completely ignoring us. I finally got his attention and asked if you could check this shoe for a certain size. He says hold on and walks away. He then comes back a few minutes later and scans the box for a wide shoe and says we don't have her size. I said it shows online you do. He said well we don't and walked away. so my daughter and I ordered the shoe online while we were standing in the store for same day pick up. An hour later I got an email that my order was ready for pick up. So I went back and picked up my order. Just the fact that we were told they didn't have that size and had to make 2 trips is very annoying. read more

PROS: (1) Large selection (2) Friendly staff (3) Easy returns, $5 coupon (at least sometimes) when you return shoes CONS: (1) There are rarely stickers to indicate human-made materials. If this is important to you, you'll have to check lots and lots of labels. (2) Online return process requires that you tell it why you're returning, and "Uncomfortable" is not an option, and there's no "Other". They have a "too small" option, but the shoes were not too small, there were the right size, just uncomfortable. So, I was forced to lie in order to complete the form. Garbage in = garbage out (3) I visited a store to return some shoes I bought from their online store, and the cashier apologize and gave me a $5-off coupon as an apology for the experience of receiving shoes I didn't like. She didn't mention (and I didn't notice at first in the fine print) that the coupon expired IN FOUR HOURS(!). Had I not received a coupon at all, I probably would have rated 4 stars. But if you give a coupon with an amazingly early expiration time, you had better point it out to the customer. read more

Been buying shoes here for years, spend probably around $800-1,000 annually for me and my family, but won't be going back. Bought a $100 pair of Vans shoes earlier this month, they felt alright in the store, but I wore them ONE TIME and within an hour my feet began to hurt really bad. I tried to return the shoes and they won't take a return or exchange because "they were worn outside", because the sole had a small bit of dirt around the side. Buyer beware, they expect you to wear your shoes for hours in their store or inside your house if you want to make sure the shoes don't hurt you. Everyone is very friendly. They have a nice variety of shoes. It can be quite pricey, but quality of shoes is worth it.

It's true, shoes are definitely cheaper here. I don't always find what I'm looking for if I have something specific in mind but I always find something I like. I'm pretty specific about brands of fashionable & professional shoes- I do not sacrifice style for comfort and so I usually prefer Clark's or Dr. Scholls for which they have a modest selection. During busier/peak times it is difficult to find an attendant to look for the correct style/size if it isn't already one the floor. We ended up waiting in line with the incorrect size; we found out at the register that the correct size was out of stock but we got free 5-7 day shipping for shoes that are store-returnable if they don't work out. Also good to note that the DSW rewards are pretty impressive- this time I got $20 a $49.99+ purchase as well as a free weekender bag that was large and of solid quality. read more

EXTREMELY IMPORTANT-read this if you're considering buying shoes here: the 30 day guarantee is CONDITIONAL- basically it means you can't wear the shoes unless in the store or inside. They will refuse to take them back if they find they've been worn outside. So in essence the "30 days" is meaningless and total bs. My shoes didn't start causing my feet injury and pain until about 2 weeks in. It's impossible to know just how some shoes will break-in until much later and this ridiculous guarantee is simply a facade for these reasons. Go with amazon - you can get ALL THE SAME SHOES THERE at prices as good and NO ISSUES on return. Everything is not a bargain here but the selection is good and you can often order things online and have them shipped to the store if they don't have your size. The staff at DSW are great. They understand the logic that most cashiers / managers fight you about like when things go on sale and getting a swap or price match. Things like that keep me a loyal DSW shopper. Also, I like to try shoes on before buying them... so there's that. The DSW rewards program is also totes a program that works. After a couple weeks of phone tag with corporate relations people, I decided to try to bring the shoes in anyway to exchange them. Sadly, they'd gone on clearance and there were no longer any of the size I needed in the store. Long story short, I asked if I could at least get a price adjustment since I'd only bought them a week or two previously, which they happily granted. I just love those shoes too much to get rid of them. May bring them to the Shoe Hospital or something to get stretched out... time will tell. Anyway, I love this store. They have all types of shoes for both men and women. I have terrible luck with heels, but DSW keeps compelling me to buy (or at least try) them. Overall, the store is clean and well lit, sizes are amply stocked. There's usually several associates on the sales floor, but they're somewhat difficult to recognize because there's not a standard uniform, just name badges. And THE SALES! OMG, the SALES! There's an entire room in the back of the store with outdated shoes with awesome discounted prices! Different colored stickers mean different levels of discounts. Also, check out the DSW Rewards program. You get points towards future purchases and access to special deals throughout the year. Purchased a cute, comfortable pair of brown Sofft shoes with an architectural style heel marked down and discounted a second time at 30% off. I had not been here for years and was delighted at the addition of more comfortable shoe styles. Cute and comfy. Service can be spotty. There were several young men (boys) working here on a busy Friday. They were cute and comfy but did not know how to help me find the ideal shoe. Just a note: do not come here on Friday. Apparently, that is the day truck loads of ladies travel to Austin to shop at Sam Moon's. I regrettably took part in a monster traffic grid lock within the woefully inadequate parking lot. Unfortunately I made the mistake of taking up running as a hobby, and it's accelerated my shoe wear (ha! double entendre) quite a bit. Well, I was dragged into DSW not too long ago, and noticed they had a pretty good selection of men's running shoes. A quick check showed that the prices were competitive with Amazon, plus I get instant gratification. As a bonus, the women sales consultants are busy chasing the women customer, so men get largely ignored. Awesome. I have to deduct a star because I've found that it's pretty rare for them to carry multiple pairs of the same size....that throws quite a wrench in my plans. But pretty inexpensive, painless shoe shopping otherwise. read more

The customer service here is pretty hit or miss. Examples: waiting in line for over ten minutes to pick up an order is frustrating, and sometimes it's very difficult to find anyone in the aisles, and when you do, you're directed to the website for questions. But also, sometimes once you are being helped, the associate will stay with your 70something Mother in Law to answer all her questions and help her exchange our shoes to save $30. So there's that, as well. Very middling. I find the prices here to be about $60 a shoe, and their rewards program is pretty robust. I'd say give them a shot, but go on your lunch break. read more

I, for a number of reasons, hate shopping...especially shoe shopping. DSW is one of the very few places that doesn't send shockwaves of retail fear and loathing through my system. It's overwhelmingly large, but the low walls help to stave off the claustrophobia. The men's selection takes up about a quarter of the hangar sized store...which is great for me. I'm one of those types that in the face of too many options, chooses not to choose. There are a number of shoes of all sizes and styles. The prices can't be beat. Most of all...they have a great selection of boots. I was able to find almost exactly what i was looking for within minutes. I'm not saying that this is the beginning of a new found love of shopping, but I'd happily return when I need a new pair of kicks (that's what the kids say today...right?). read more

I have what my husband lovingly refers to as "Rupaul feet". That is to say, I have big feet for a lady (size 11). It can be very difficult for me to find not only shoes that fit, but cute shoes. DSW has always been a place I can count on to find both. The first place I go when I come here is the clearance racks in the back. They have really good deals back there. Today I found the most rockin pair of Betsey Johnson heels but at $90 (clearance price) couldn't justify it. Normally though you can find plenty of top designer heels in the $30-50 range if not cheaper. Today I wanted boots but none stood out to me. Everyone else had the same idea because there must have been 15 women crammed into the same aisle. The ones I bought here a few years ago were around $70 and lasted me for ages. They are more than heels and boots though. They have everything from flip flops, to sneakers, and ballet flats too. Check them out on social media and stay up to date on sales because they have good ones from time to time and also like to send out coupons. read more

Man, DSW seems like such a great concept on paper. That said, their selection is always just meh. I'm not saying they don't have cool shoes. I'm just saying that they don't have that many sizes of anything in particular. I love shoes! I love shoes! I love shoes! Is it any wonder that DSW is one of my favorite stores in the whole world? This store is the same as every other in layout (except those new modern layout stores that they briefly experimented with). But what makes it special is the helpfulness of the people who work there. They are very nice. And if they don't have a pair of shoes in your size, they will try their damnedest to find it for you at another store and arrange to put them on hold for you. Don't be afraid to ask! I promise that they will be nice about it! The parking lot is fine but finding the store can be a little hard if you are coming from the east down Braker Lane. You actually have to turn left before you get to the Home Depot. It's confusing. Trust me. I mean, I've been there and I still miss the turn sometimes. It seems too far before the mall to be right! But, hey, for shoes I'll always turn around! Even better, of course, is that they are located next to Marshall's! So you can pickup a new outfit to go with that new pair of shoes! Yay! read more

This place had a great selection for clearance and it was actually really organized and clean! The aisles were really neatly categorized so that you could literally walk through the store and skim through the shoes in categories with your eyes and know if they would have something that you are needing or looking for. The workers are quite friendly and helpful also. It is in a little shopping center right off the highway also so it's not hard to get to either. "Are you finding everything alright?" Are you kidding me? I'm standing in a frickin shoe WAREHOUSE. I have one of your handy shopping bags secured over my shoulder, already 3 pairs deep. If this place were to blow right now I'd go out happy, and if it doesn't I am probably going home with a pair of shoes on sale. It's a win-win. I get at least 2 $10 off coupons throughout the year. Your crazy little points system everytime I buy a pair gets me another $10 bucks whenever I reach X amount of points, and believe me, I'm going to reach that number a few times this year. Even with my now fragile foot I can still find a deal on some not-old-lady-looking Born or Sofft shoes built with steel shanks and other sturdy stuff that I can rely on. So it's almost dumb to ask me if I'm FINDING everything ok - the stuff about jumped in my pants when I walked in. The actual problem is I'm finding a lot of stuff, and it's pretty ok, and I can't decide, and your clearance ROOM where all of your sizes are on the right racks and in the right boxes really tickles me. This being my philosophy, I suppose it is no great wonder that I adore DSW. This store is my complete favorite! Ever! It has more space than the old location (just across 183) for an even better selection of strappy sandals, peep-toe pumps, & wicked wedges. Awesome! I rarely leave empty handed. DSW has great, low prices on designer shoes (and a small selection of handbags and accessories, too). At the rear of the store, you'll find the clearance section. The prices of these shoes are super cheap, often less than twenty-five dollars, which is a steal considering the quality of some pairs. The rest of the floor space at DSW is filled with rows upon rows of beautiful shoes. I usually have an idea of what I'm shopping for & find the store very easy to navigate. The staff is generally pleasant & helpful as well. Browsing among the cute slippers, trendy workout shoes, and devastating heels could definitely put a pinch on my pocketbook. They really do have everything here. The only thing better than actually shopping at DSW is going to the day spa for a pedicure before sporting your new purchase out on the town. And P.S. --- Whether you like shoes only a teeny bit, or almost as much as the Imeldas of the world, you should totally sign up for the DSW Rewards Program. They will give you gift certificates based on a points system when you buy shoes. That means you get to buy more shoes. I'd trade frequent flyer miles for DSW points. read more
