Unbelievably great!! We came for New Year's eve and stayed a second day. The room 'Palisades' is actually a small cottage, exquisitely furnished, super comfortable, quiet, nice views and a spacious spa tub. The breakfasts were superb. Lynn was very friendly and helpful, clearly, as owner manager she has paid close attention to detail. I highly recommend this place, it is not only superb but a great value. We've been to Napa, specific Calistoga, many times before and always wanted to stay at a B & B.  My husband being the most wonderful, thoughtful man he is, made our bucketlist & my bday wish come true. We stayed at the lovely Foothill Potter's Inn at the beginning of February in the Palisades Cottage which itself was the epitome of what we envisioned a private B & B would be.  Thanks to Lynn & Greg whom made our stay epic! My husband coordinated w/Lynn to set up bday surprises for me when we arrived. The cottage is secluded and so cozy and the BREAKFAST--Amazing! It was cutely delivered every morning (at an arranged hour) in a basket. From the dishware  to the home accents, all these details  made our stay so memorable. We definitely are spoiled and see no other way to stay in Calistoga after this! read more

My husband and I stayed at the Potter's Foothill House for 3 nights in March 2023 and were overwhelmed by the hospitality, the beautiful grounds, the delicious breakfasts and the stunning cottage complete with a full kitchen, dining table, sitting area, fireplace, sunken tub with a waterfall view - and yes, if needed, a washer & dryer. Yummy, homemade breakfasts were delivered at a time we selected - there was so much food we took leftovers with us when we explored Calistoga/Napa county. The bed & pillows were delightful! The B&B is very close to great wineries, less than 5 minutes to Tamber Bey & others, near a petrified forest, and less than 10 minutes to downtown Calistoga for a variety of one-off restaurants - delicious! Lynn is a phenomenal hostess - she is gracious, funny, full of wonderful suggestions of where to go, and her thoughtful treats she leaves in your room from flowers to chocolates are extra special! My husband and I will return to this wonderful place!! read more

We packed our bags for an overnighter without having made any reservations and headed to beautiful quaint Calistoga, hoping we'd get lucky and find a nice place to stay, and we did! It was so enjoyable chatting with Lynn, who greeted us at check-in. She and her husband, Gregg, were great hosts. Our room was unexpectedly very spacious, nicely furnished, and clean. There were sweet treats left throughout the room to enjoy, a Keurig coffeemaker for morning coffee, and a very nice bottle of bubbly, which we used for mimosas in the morning. The bed was oh-so comfortable. I really wanted to enjoy the jacuzzi tub. It was so tempting, but in light of the current drought situation, ending up skipping it. There is a heat switch in the bathroom. A nice touch when stepping out of the shower and into a cozy robe, they also provided. Breakfast was brought to our private back patio area, and every part of it was soooo delicious. We shouldn't have, but did finish it all. Then, we walked the outdoor garden area, and sat in the gazebo listening to the birds and the frogs. This place was so lovely as were the owners. It's also a very quick drive to the main area in town. More than we'd hoped for, and such a nice find. read more

I chose to spend my solo getaway at Potter's Foothill House in Calistoga for two nights. I was warmly greeted my Lynn. Lynn escorted me to the Castella Suite. When she opened the door, I felt like royalty. The Castella is lovingly and personally appointed by Lynn. All of my stress melted away when I heated my room with the wood-burning stove and lit the candles placed throughout the Castella. Lynn included bath bombs and Epsom salt. The Jacuzzi tub lit by candles was divine. Lynn and Gregg served a dinner that included Gregg's BBQ ribs. During dining hour, the selection of Napa Valley wines was heavenly. Lynn and Gregg are authentic kind souls. Before leaving, I booked another stay for my family. read more

What a treat! This place is the sweetest thing. I stayed in the Palisades Suite. The owners do a wonderful job making you welcome. The room was spacious and had everything you need including a dining area, kitchenette, several outdoor sitting areas, large bathroom with a jet tub and the best part of all... the beautiful gourmet breakfast brought to your door every morning a picnic basket!! Lots of little extras like chocolates, a bottle of champagne, robes, and candles for your bath. This place is bright and open with lots of windows and natural light. The grounds that surround the suite are immaculately maintained, peaceful and serene. This suite is large enough for a couple and a small child but I traveled solo and felt like I had a nice sized place all to myself. It's a perfect spot to stay if your planning to pamper yourself at Indian Springs Spa and/or explore charming downtown Calistoga. It's a perfect weekend escape! read more

I am a AAA member and found this charming B&B in their travel book. I immediately noticed that they were the only recipient of a 4 AAA diamond rating in the area. When I called in for a rate, the owner Darla was very informative letting me know about all of the features in the room and on the premises. Upon arriving, we were provided with some great dinner coupons (which we used later that night) as well as lots of information on great things to do in the area. Our room was very charming and had everything that we could possibly need including a private jacuzzi tub for 2, fireplace, TV, DVD's, fresh cookies, toiletries, and a great atmosphere. We checked in just in time for Darla's appetizer and wine hour (5-6pm) and enjoyed some baguette, cheese, grapes, and tasty local wine as well as had the chance to speak with Darla a bit more about the neighborhood and the sites to see. In the morning, we were delivered our breakfast which was made up of french toast, fruit salad, turkey sausage, tea and orange juice. Everything was very tasty and was just what we needed to start our day. Upon checkout, Darla also provided us with 'travel cookies' which were great! Overall, this was an amazing place to stay and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to the Calistoga/Napa area. I will definitely be back. Thanks, Darla! read more

My family and I stayed here in December of 2008 and had a great time. My family which includes myself, husband and two daughters stars in the Quail's Roost and were very comfortable. Everything that you would need was right there in the room..beautiful fireplace, huge comfortable bed and a beautiful waterfall right outside of the room. Unlike one of the other posters, I found the waterfall very relaxing. Breakfast was yummy and was brought to our room, the perfect start to a busy day exploring the cute town of Calistoga. Potter's Foothill House is a great getaway. We recently stayed here for Anniversary. We had to leave early due to bad wind, heat and no power. Darn Mother Nature. It was our second visit since our honeymoon 24 years ago. The same room was available with lots of changes and upgrades. The breakfast delivered was outstanding. Potter's Foothill House exceeded our expectations. Upon our arrival, Lynn chatted with us in the entry room, overlooking the beautiful backyard garden. She pointed out, with a detailed map of the area, and recommended points of interest, local wineries etc. Then Lynn immediately brought wine and appetizers to our Castella Room,with it's beautiful table that overlooks it's own private patio! We were in Heaven! The fabulous homemade hot breakfast in beautiful dishes, was delivered to our door,(she asked us what time we wanted breakfast the night before). It was in a pretty basket, along with her warm smile. Each day was a different basket too, and a different delicious menu. We look forward to a return visit! read more

Foothill House was a great long weekend B&B located about a mile from excellent Calistoga main street restaurants. We stayed in the Castella Room for three nights which has a large private patio deck and a private parking space. The room service breakfasts prepared by Lynn, the owner were "Bon Appetit" outstanding. Hot dishes, baked goods, yogurt parfaits, fresh juices were all served in a giant basket delivered each morning at the appointed time. My parents treated my S.O. and I to a night in the Redwood room on Sat. night, 2/7/2009, based on rave reviews from my sister and brother-in-law. Foothill House is in a beautiful setting, and it was exciting to drive up and see it stretched out before us. Darla, the proprietor, was incredibly friendly during our entire stay. She explained about the included cocktail hour, asked about any food preferences or allergies, and showed us to our rooms. She was extremely detailed in explaining how everything in the room works (including the jacuzzi tub and stove). While it was nice of her to do so, I could have done with a little less explaining, as it took awhile, and we wanted to relax in the room. The room itself was fairly rustic looking with a wood stove in the center of the room. The decorations were just not my style, since I tend to go for the more modern look, and the room was showered in flowers and a "country" motif. I wish the bed were a bit more comfortable, but I won't complain too much since we were only there for one night. The cocktail hour was a nice bonus, as we enjoyed some appetizers and a glass of wine, as well as chatted with Darla and another couple. Darla delivered breakfast bright and early the next morning: a french toast concoction, eggs with artichokes, cheese, and chicken sausage, a cinnabon, oj, coffee, etc. All was pretty tasty. And we LOVED the cookies in the room and to go. If you want a Napa get-away and enjoy rustic bed and breakfasts, then Foothill House is for you. read more

This was one of those times where my expectations were minimal, as I was just grateful to get a room for Valentine's weekend, but from the moment we arrived all I could do was keep saying "WOW"! We had the cottage house, and it alone is worth coming here for. Stunning in every way. The dual fireplace that both richly adorns the suite but also the bathroom, where you feel you are outdoors with glass wall view from the shower and spa tug of the waterfall and hillside. Total privacy, including the grounds around you. The owners have a true passion for details. Everything that decorates or needed for function and tastefully provided. And the food!!!! True works of art! I stumbled on this place and we now have a favorite get away. read more

This was so perfect to distance away from others, and the security knowing Lynn and Greg have the place deep cleaned as they aren't doing during the week bookings. We stayed in Castillo...Castelle? room, royal-themed with it's own patio. Amazing remodeled bathroom and the room had all the bells and whistles! Lynn went out of her way, making sure all our needs were met and had such thoughtful treats. The room and place was beyond perfect! Breakfast was exquisite, truly never been so well taken care of! My fiancee and I stayed at Foothill House for 2 nights last month to celebrate our recent engagement. The price is quite good for the area. I was so pleasantly surprised by the accommodations and the wonderful customer service and hospitality by Lynn and Gregg. I've stayed in lots of B&Bs over the years and this one is among the best. this is a cute little B&B that's a ways away from the hubbub of most of Napa. the breakfasts are served in your room and were pretty good. The innkeepers are really nice and will give you lots of winery and restaurant tips if you want 'em. Wasn't too crazy about the Laura Ashley decor, and our tub wasn't really big enough for two people, so I probably wouldn't return since the whole 4 poster bed-floral print thing isn't really my style. read more

For our second visit to Foothill House, we came with the kids. We were fortunate to get the Quails Roost room which is a 1000 sq foot mansion compared to most bed and breakfast inns. Sitting atop the entire Foothill House property the amenities are numerous- jacuzzi, kitchen, private patio etc. We had enjoyable memories during our first visit with the proprietor, Ms. Darla, and we were not disappointed this time around. We enjoyed such attention to detail from the delightful breakfast items at bedside to cookies at bedtime. The rooms are always immaculate. My family was there the end of April 2015. We chose to have our breakfast all together and they accommodated us with no problem. Lynn & Greg have taken it over and have done a terrific job! My boyfriend has stayed there 3 times before over the years and he says it is always great! It is close to town and very private. They serve great wine and appetizers at 5:00 pm. My wife and I stayed in the Quails Roost cottage for a night. It was wonderful inside and out. The jacuzzi, double-sided fireplace, and the furnishings were all wonderful. Now the reason we gave it only three stars is because of the service and the owner's miscommunication. We felt that we were being rushed in and out when we went to sign in, sign out, and meet for appetizers. Then the really annoying thing was we were told that we could use BedandBreakfast.com gift certificates we received, but when we got there she charged us extra for using them. read more

What can I say, our stay here was simply amazing. Lynn was very sweet and welcoming. She was so accommodating that when she found out we wouldn't be having breakfast there the next morning, she gave us a discount coupon to dine at one of her and Greg's favorite restaurants in town. We felt more like we were staying with family than a hotel. The Chateau room was very comfortable and clean and it was a bonus to have a jacuzzi tub in our room. The property is very quiet and we loved all the quirky and fun decor they've put up. We don't get a chance to visit our daughter and her SO on the West Coast that often, so we thought that in addition to just chillin' at their house and doing some touristy things, we'd spend an overnight in wine country with them (so they, too, could have a little time away from home). Our other daughter and her husband highly recommended the B&B Foothill House in Calistoga, which is located in a very picturesque setting away from the hubbub. The rooms were a little too girly/Laura Ashley for all of us, but the place was relaxing and enjoyable nevertheless...and the location was great. Darla, the owner, showed us around our large rooms (Redwood and Evergreen Suite), gave instructions about the fireplace and jacuzzi, and gave useful advice about dining, wineries, etc. I'm a very light sleeper (as in, hardly ever sleeps) so the little waterfall outside the room didn't help. Am sure that noise is relaxing to most people, but just as Carrie Bradshaw in Sex and the City found the frog/nature sounds annoying in one of the episodes with Berger, so, too, did I find the waterfall "noisy" and not conducive to sleeping. Since I'm vertically challenged, I also found it difficult to get onto the four-poster bed without a running start. I was careful, during my first "run," not to topple the yummy homemade cookies that were perched on the myriad pillows. Two glasses and a little container of sherry were on the bedside table (I drank the whole bottle by myself, thinking that that would help me sleep...but it didn't). A cocktail hour included a crab-rangoon type of appetizer, cheese, fruit, crackers, and cookies, and wine. We schmoozed with Darla and a lovely couple from Pleasanton, CA. Darla served us a satisfying breakfast in our room: It included fruit salad, French toast, bacon, juice, coffee, some kind of soufflé and a cinnabun, and she took pains up-front to see if we had food allergies, dietary restrictions, etc., which was very thoughtful. Cookies "for the ride home" was a nice touch. We had a pleasant experience and would recommend this place to others. read more

We stayed in this beautiful b&b for one night last weekend, August 16. The place is charming and the owners, Doris and Gaz are incredible! They both were so welcoming. We checked in around 5 pm and Doris met us in front of the house. She showed us around and took us to the room, which was very cozy and nicely decorated. It has a huge jacuzzi. Doris invited us to have some wine and cheese in the patio where her husband Gaz joined us. We had a very pleasant chat while siping a nice white and red wine. We had a dinner reservation in Calistoga Inn on that evening at 7 pm to celebrate our friend's birthday, who stayed in Another hotel, but we enjoyed our conversation with Doris and Gaz so much that we did not want to leave. We finally left at 10 minutes after 7 pm and we wished we could stay longer. When we came back, we had home made cookies in the jar waiting for us. The next morning, Gaz brought us a wonderful breakfast in the basket. We felt like we were honeymooners! I can't describe how delicious it was! My mouth is watery when I am writing about it now. Doris made us fresh croissants, which were placed on a hot stone to keep them warm. We had a baked dish (sorry I cant remember the name of it) made from potato, ham, eggs, green onion, and cheese, which melt in our mouthes. You should see how everything was served! Strawberries with whipped cream were piece of art! Even the butter was in a cute old fashion jar upside down, rested in the water to keep it cool. Everything was done with such a personal touch! Too bad, we only spend 1 night there. Gaz gave us recommendations what wineries to go. We followed his advise and ended up with buying 6 bottles of amazing Port in Vince Arrow vinery nearby. My husband and I were celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary and happened upon the Foothill House in Calistoga. I had called ahead to make a few special requests to maintain our anniversary traditions of pizza and champagne. Lynn and Gregg were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to make our wishes come true. Our rooms were comfortable and inviting. We enjoyed a delightful breakfast prepared by Lynn on the private patio outside our room. The setting was so quiet and peaceful that we couldn't believe we were just off of highway 29. We just recently returned from a trip to the wine country and spent five nights at the Foothill House. We were in the Lupine Suite (their least expensive suite) and found it to be a wonderful experience. It was very clean, we had plenty of space including a back porch, sitting room with a television and fireplace and a separate area for the bed. We really appreciate the extra space allowing us to spreadout a little. We also appreciated the many extra services greatly. Darla had made all our dinner reservations and had plenty of the little touches that made our lives much easier - bottled water each day, extra travel cookies, a picnic cooler with plenty of ice ready for us each morning. The breakfasts were outstanding and delievered to our room and each evening there were appetizers and area wines to sample in the large reception area. There is a special suite (Quail's Roost) that is very large and totally isolated from the other suites (perfect for that special romantic weekend) - it is so nice you never want to leave. We have been traveling to the Calistoga area for the past ten years and after trying many other inns always now return to the Foothill House. Darla makes sure our stay is special each time and she is always accommodating. My wife had a couple of special requests regarding the breakfasts and Darla quietly made the changes each morning. You can't beat the space, clean appearance, food, price, and feeling like you are special. It's a special place we love and will certainly return next year. read more
