We've been to Napa, specific Calistoga, many times before and always wanted to stay at a B & B.  My husband being the most wonderful, thoughtful man he is, made our bucketlist & my bday wish come true. We stayed at the lovely Foothill Potter's Inn at the beginning of February in the Palisades Cottage which itself was the epitome of what we envisioned a private B & B would be.  Thanks to Lynn & Greg whom made our stay epic! My husband coordinated w/Lynn to set up bday surprises for me when we arrived. The cottage is secluded and so cozy and the BREAKFAST--Amazing! It was cutely delivered every morning (at an arranged hour) in a basket. From the dishware  to the home accents, all these details  made our stay so memorable. We definitely are spoiled and see no other way to stay in Calistoga after this!

My husband and I stayed at the Potter's Foothill House for 3 nights in March 2023 and were overwhelmed by the hospitality, the beautiful grounds, the delicious breakfasts and the stunning cottage complete with a full kitchen, dining table, sitting area, fireplace, sunken tub with a waterfall view - and yes, if needed, a washer & dryer. Yummy, homemade breakfasts were delivered at a time we selected - there was so much food we took leftovers with us when we explored Calistoga/Napa county. The bed & pillows were delightful! The B&B is very close to great wineries, less than 5 minutes to Tamber Bey & others, near a petrified forest, and less than 10 minutes to downtown Calistoga for a variety of one-off restaurants - delicious! Lynn is a phenomenal hostess - she is gracious, funny, full of wonderful suggestions of where to go, and her thoughtful treats she leaves in your room from flowers to chocolates are extra special! My husband and I will return to this wonderful place!!

This is a very nice cozy place. We came here for our 22nd anniversary and stayed for 2 nights. Lynn and Craig are super friendly owners. Our room is in the backside of the place, very spacious and quiet. We loved our breakfast and a little bit of afternoon appetizer before we headed out for our dinner.

    Wonderful breakfast spread

We packed our bags for an overnighter without having made any reservations and headed to beautiful quaint Calistoga, hoping we'd get lucky and find a nice place to stay, and we did! It was so enjoyable chatting with Lynn, who greeted us at check-in. She and her husband, Gregg, were great hosts. Our room was unexpectedly very spacious, nicely furnished, and clean. There were sweet treats left throughout the room to enjoy, a Keurig coffeemaker for morning coffee, and a very nice bottle of bubbly, which we used for mimosas in the morning. The bed was oh-so comfortable. I really wanted to enjoy the jacuzzi tub. It was so tempting, but in light of the current drought situation, ending up skipping it. There is a heat switch in the bathroom. A nice touch when stepping out of the shower and into a cozy robe, they also provided. Breakfast was brought to our private back patio area, and every part of it was soooo delicious. We shouldn't have, but did finish it all. Then, we walked the outdoor garden area, and sat in the gazebo listening to the birds and the frogs. This place was so lovely as were the owners. It's also a very quick drive to the main area in town. More than we'd hoped for, and such a nice find.

    Part of our amazing breakfast.

Lynn and Gregg were very friendly and accommodating. Lynn has done an amazing job decorating the property and rooms and her breakfasts were to die for! Highly recommend this B&B!

What a treat! This place is the sweetest thing. I stayed in the Palisades Suite. The owners do a wonderful job making you welcome. The room was spacious and had everything you need including a dining area, kitchenette, several outdoor sitting areas, large bathroom with a jet tub and the best part of all... the beautiful gourmet breakfast brought to your door every morning a picnic basket!! Lots of little extras like chocolates, a bottle of champagne, robes, and candles for your bath. This place is bright and open with lots of windows and natural light. The grounds that surround the suite are immaculately maintained, peaceful and serene. This suite is large enough for a couple and a small child but I traveled solo and felt like I had a nice sized place all to myself. It's a perfect spot to stay if your planning to pamper yourself at Indian Springs Spa and/or explore charming downtown Calistoga. It's a perfect weekend escape!

I am a AAA member and found this charming B&B in their travel book. I immediately noticed that they were the only recipient of a 4 AAA diamond rating in the area. When I called in for a rate, the owner Darla was very informative letting me know about all of the features in the room and on the premises. Upon arriving, we were provided with some great dinner coupons (which we used later that night) as well as lots of information on great things to do in the area. Our room was very charming and had everything that we could possibly need including a private jacuzzi tub for 2, fireplace, TV, DVD's, fresh cookies, toiletries, and a great atmosphere. We checked in just in time for Darla's appetizer and wine hour (5-6pm) and enjoyed some baguette, cheese, grapes, and tasty local wine as well as had the chance to speak with Darla a bit more about the neighborhood and the sites to see. In the morning, we were delivered our breakfast which was made up of french toast, fruit salad, turkey sausage, tea and orange juice. Everything was very tasty and was just what we needed to start our day. Upon checkout, Darla also provided us with 'travel cookies' which were great! Overall, this was an amazing place to stay and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone traveling to the Calistoga/Napa area. I will definitely be back. Thanks, Darla!

"Beautiful property and excellent stay! This B&B does not disappoint!" Best Bed & Breakfast we have had the pleasure of staying in. We've stayed in many up and down the California Coast and this was by far the best! Lynn & Gregg were very welcoming and friendly. They even upgraded our room in honor of us celebrating our birthdays! The property & the Castella room exceeded our expectations! Very relaxing and enjoyable stay. The appetizers & wine in the evening were lovely and the hot home cooked breakfast delivered to our room each morning was fabulous! The owners pay attention to the little details and take great pride in providing a memorable experience. We will definitely return!

Because of that history, I never expected to be treated this way. We experienced a genuine family emergency that forced us to leave early and requested a refund for our unused Sunday and Monday nights. These were weekday nights not a weekend or holiday, and the hotel kept 100% of the charges for both nights despite us not being there. What made the situation even worse was the amount of time we had to spend going back and forth during an already stressful family emergency. The front desk staff repeatedly told us they understood and agreed a refund was appropriate, but the owner instructed them not to issue one. For several days, staff members seemed confused about the situation, while the owner/manager refused to respond to phone calls or text messages. We were left waiting, following up repeatedly, and receiving no direct communication from the person making the decision. I understand businesses have cancellation policies, but there should also be room for compassion and reasonable discretion, especially for LOYAL, repeat guests who have spent thousands of dollars over the years and have personally referred many others to stay here. Unfortunately, this experience erased years of goodwill. Customer service is tested when something unexpected happens, and this hotel failed that test. We will NEVER stay here again, and after this experience, I can no longer recommend it to friends, family, or clients. What a HUGE disappointment Cottage Grove. Not the way you treat your loyal customers.

When we first arrived, we drove through a bridge and then we were surrounded by planted gardens and fruit trees with a few chairs and tables spaced apart. We called Kurt and he came right away to help us, directed us to a good parking spot, and then showed us around. We arrived around 10:00AM and it was still quiet with only one other couple by the pool. Kurt showed us where the switches for the hot tub jets were, the switch for the sauna, towels, bathroom, water, etc. The rest of the day was extremely relaxing. People slowly trickled in and seemed to hit peak occupancy around 1:00PM. There were beautiful views of the hillside and trees. Everything clean and neat. Plentiful umbrellas for shade. A quiet atmosphere with friendly conversations. There were always lounge chairs to choose from. I loved the layout of the place. The pool, hot tub, and sauna were all spacious and never felt crowded. Around 6:00PM the pool area starts emptying out, and weather quickly gets cooler. I'd recommend bringing a cooler with drinks and snacks to maximize your relaxation time. An amazing place to be and we'll definitely be back whenever we need to let go of any stress.

Despite property descriptions and their website, I did not witness anything luxury about this place, apart from the diner. I was at the property for only a couple of hours but that was more than enough. -Photos are a bit deceiving - everything in real life is a lot smaller, especially the pool and bathrooms. I sat down on the toilet and my knees were bumping against the bathroom door. Pool size was not fit for the amount of guests the property can accommodate and looks twice as big in the photos. -No sound isolation whatsoever. You can hear people sneeze/talk/get changed in the rooms next to yours, no sense of privacy whatsoever. To add to this disaster, each room is operated by a PIN code rather than a key. In our case, rather than showing or handing us the PIN, the host just said the PIN out loud for us to try out from the hallway - the implication being that other people probably heard it and our room was essentially unlocked for everybody. I had more privacy when I lived in student halls at uni than at this ''luxury'' chateau. -I had a query about our reservation where we initially wanted to stay an extra night at the property, however, it was near impossible to get hold of the property - 3 contact numbers, 2 email addresses and Booking messaging system later, we finally received a 1-sentence response via Booking messenger with the property completely misunderstanding our request and providing the wrong advice which completely paralysed our options when it came to our time in Napa valley. Their attempt to remedy the situation was a bottle of wine - which we explained we're unlikely to be able to accept as we're due to catch a flight back and our luggage was already full. No other offers or solutions to rectify the poor customer experience. Overall, not worth the money, especially considering the service.
