The little store also has marmalade, honey and other already picked citrus like the grapefruits and Meyer lemons - these are off limits to visitors due to the BIG thorns. I picked up a bag Christmas Eve because her and her husband were coming to visit and it's become a family tradition to enjoy mandarins. However, this year within two days, they all started to turn moldy and have bad spots. So when my daughter was here, they were grossed out. I know business is tough and you got to sell things and make a living, but once you lose your quality control, people will never come back, I'm going to have to find them somewhere else in the future.

You can ask to sample a mandarin while you're there. He let me choose one from any crate. Currently, you can buy 5 lb for $10. The 10 lb bag for $22 isn't as good a deal, maybe because you are purchasing the cardboard box? You can also buy crates for $50, which is the best value. I think a crate contains 40 lb. This has been the only farm I have seen so far that allows you to purchase so huge a quantity, especially so early in the season. Mandarins are juicy. You may be able to buy other farm produce here, like persimmons and nuts. The Fuyu persimmons looked so perfect and beautiful that I bought a big bag for $10. You can pay by credit card. Mandarin Hill Orchards is off English Colony Way, part of the Mandarin Trail. Happy Dayz Vineyard is located on the same grounds. I like that you can see and drive through the scenic mandarin orange orchard when you shop here. Even the railroad crossing you have to drive over is pretty. This was the best mandarin farm experience and stop so far.

We've bought the Summer, Winter and the (new) Spring veggie shares, plus the fruit and bread. The weekly box really inspires us to eat more, and varied produce. Great for our health, and really fun to try new veggies! Every week there is a lettuce and herb, and then the rest of the box is stuffed full of a myriad of seasonal choices. A photo and description of the box items is posted on Facebook each week, and an email shares information about the crops, plus recipes. The farm itself is charming, with a stream and covered bridge. I love supporting the young family who runs this wonderful addition to our community. There are also weekly roadside Farm Stands which feature veggies from the farm. So worth the short lovely drive through Meadow Vista to the Foothill Roots Farm!

As of 11/19/25, which is early season, you can buy a 4 lb bag for $10. While I was there, one farmer was sorting the oranges out by size. Apparently, the medium ones are the most popular. You could buy small ones for $1.50 per pound. Mandarins were attractive and juicy. Update: It's the sweetest and easiest to peel of the three different bags I bought on 11/19/25. Blue Goose Produce is associated with Westview Growers. If I remember correctly, there are 1500 mandarin orange trees in their orchards, so you can buy mandarins there until April! Farmers are friendly and informative to chat with. In October 2025, I believe I spoke with the owner Mark about the Blue Goose decor. One antiquities specialist soon found him a large metallic goose after he requested it. He painted it dark blue himself. This goose gets outfit changes to match the holiday! His family has been collecting blue goose decor over many years, which you can find throughout the store. I learned that a female goose can just be called a goose. A male goose is a gander, and Gander Taphouse is in the same plaza. Yesterday I learned that mandarin oranges taste better a day or longer after they have been picked. It takes time for them to sweeten. You can find a variety of local farm goods here, such as honey, scented candles, Earth & Vine products, local Newcastle Mandarin Ranch products, and Petaluma Creamery cheeses. You can buy pies here. I might call ahead to ask about available flavors. You can find limited produce here. I've bought a large tomato, finger grapes, and a ruby grapefruit here. You just go to their website/meat buyers club and click on the order form. You choose what you want and how often, it is NOT DICTATED TO YOU like so many other wine, fruit, cheese and CSA baskets/ clubs operate. We try to get a delivery every month, but when we are vacation or out of town, it's nice to know we don't have too. It is very cloudy today, but they stay open as long as the weather isn't too terrible. I just happen to be picking up my client from the hospital when I saw all the yummy produce...aaaand since my client was taking quite a bit of time to come down, she told me to go enjoy myself... NUFF SAID! I am a sucker for farmers markets. Tastings is where they really get me. I was only going to get some fresh fruits, but here I am spicy hummus, an artichoke parmesan sauce, seasoned pita bread, and micro greens! I'm definitely going to be here every Thursday since it is on my way to work. Marcella works at the table with the micro greens. She was the one that gave me the most information. Thursdays! After giving me a sample of their lemon pesto, I couldn't help but purchase some lemon basil from her! Then she gave me her recipe for her lemon pesto, which I will be making later today. As I kept walking... how can you pass up the bread pudding! Today, I pick up cherry bread pudding to share with my client. I'm sure she'll enjoy some fruit with me as well. My fresh peaches and apricots are from Dhillions Farm. I just had him pick out a few of everything he had. All of my fruit was sweet & tasty to eat within a few days At Zena Foods, I got to sample all their sauces on their seasoned pita bread. They got me again! Here, just take my money, lol... I almost forgot that I bought jalapeno & cheese tamales out here. The flavor was ok, but these tamales either weren't cooked enough, or the masa was not hydrated enough. It was grainy and completely crumbled apart while I was eating it. Maybe the masa was in the freezer too long and that takes away from hydration... I would have to say I wouldn't buy these again. It is breezy today, but a light jacket will do you just fine. Everyone was very kind and it probably wasn't too crowded since it is chilly outside. So come check out one of Auburn's little secret Farmers Market, located on highway 49 and Education Street. I would've probably have bought some local honey, but here comes my client!!
