I ordered 4 pies and two were gifts so I asked for two extra bags. She answered in an annoyed way that they're $.25 each. No problem I said and paid for them. This extra one minute really seemed to have bothered her and it's terrible that she made me feel unvalued in such a short amount of time. She seemed to be eager to help the party behind me, which is great but she had no finesse in her customer service. I believe she could've made my experience completely different and still acknowledge the people after me. She made it seem as if I'm less important of a customer than they were. She also didn't bag my 4th pie which was awkward because she gave me the bags there. I'll be back but I won't be in a hurry like I was before. These small personal nuances are what makes small businesses great. When you're client facing it's so important to know this. It doesn't take much to be kind or provide great service.

My 11 year old daughter and I came to the Ferry Building for a fun Mom and daughter morning. We hit the Rainbow Orchards stand first, for what was my first and sure to be last visit. We waited to the side while a customer who was there before us was helped, chatting about how much to get. That customer left, and he took the elderly guy who came after us first - no big deal. Then it was our turn and I asked him for 5 dollars worth and handed him a 20. I had 4 singles and a 20, and the choices were either 5 dollars worth, 8 dollars worth, or another amount I can't recall. He told my shy daughter snakily "Don't grow up to be a person who comes to the Farmer's Market and doesn't have exact change." It felt out of line for him to address her in that way. And, he's already complained about me not having exact change. Hey, either sell us the blueberries or don't, but were not here to be a sponge for your anger. So, I observed flatly, well, we don't have to buy anything. And he said, "yes, you do, because I already have your money." Okay, so another aggressive and weird response. I reached out to get the bag of blueberries, since evidently he was giving me no choice other than to buy them, and he backed up so they would be out of my reach. It was like the 4th rude thing he did that was unprovoked. I managed to get the bag and walk away, but he did ruin a chunk of our sweet trip to the Farmer's Market. I wonder how many shoppers had to deal with absorbing his hostility that day.

We always enjoy the stone fruits, different varieties of watermelon, corn, etc. However since it has transitioned to The Harvest Bend, the soul of the place isn't quite there any more. No longer are we greeted by familiar faces stocking peppers and tomatoes in the outside bins, rather those bins are generally empty and unwelcoming... the watermelons and corn that were always stocked in the entrance have been empty or sold out some days, as the volume of stock was seemingly not ready to out out (leaving gaps in availability that were not there before)... the prices seem to have gone up and additions of overpriced pies, popcorn, and soaps from outside the immediate area make it seem more like a new generation boutique rather than a reliable family farm stand. Most recently, at the farm stand we were buying about 10 pounds of stone fruit, assorted veggies, 24 ears of corn and 4 yellow watermelons. And as we have always done in the past, we simply informed the team member at the counter that we would also be grabbing four watermelons on our way out, as our hands were full with the rest of the produce. She informed us she couldn't ring them up until we brought them in because different sizes were different prices, despite their own signage saying they were one flat price ($7 per yellow watermelon) - almost as if we were going to steal them - because when we came back in (after holding up the line to quickly grab them), they were in fact all the same price after all (no difference based on size - just a flat price). I don't know, but this place has lost its soul, is overpriced, and is seemingly more focused on branding, buzz, and social reach/engagement rather than what matters to its patrons.

(Take highway 20 from I 5 towards Clearlake). They had such a great selection of fruits and vegetables at a reasonable price! Plus different flavors of pistachios.They also sell honey and even pies! Love that they also have olive oil and sauces! They have cold drinks in the frig and ice cream too. It is well organized and VERY clean inside ( air conditioning as well). It is cutely decorated and I bought some really fresh veggies! The 2 young ladies at the cash register who very friendly and helpful! I saw the word "Plums" on the sign and felt that I'd like to treat myself, so at the next corner, I turned around. I have significant dietary considerations, and plums fit right into my plan, for a few reasons. So I stopped and bought a bag of plums... $6. I tried to tip a buck (I only had $7 cash on me so "here... for the tip jar"). Nope! "Thank you, but put it in your tank". The two young ladies that helped me were delightful, and told me about their property and how it's been in the family since it was built in 1911. I love history! Such a beautiful property. But the plums!!! Oh man... so amazing, sweet and perfectly ripe. I was so lucky to just happen-by this gem on the last day of their plum-sales season. I can't wait to see what their next harvest is. I was inspired and created this for them (for you!) and expect to "happen-by" again fairly soon. THANK YOU for my most delicious and most healthy snack today!

We try to get a delivery every month, but when we are vacation or out of town, it's nice to know we don't have too.
