Husband had seen Dr Yamada for a while. He had him on a low dose antibiotic due to him having to use a catheter. After getting a UTI and using the prescribed antibiotics it came back within 2 days, was put on another antibiotic and it came back again. Tried a third and sent in a culture and was told on a Monday he had an antibiotic resistant strain of bacteria UTI and it was quite serious. Mr Massey said he would make sure he put in a prescription for the antibiotic to cover him until home health IV antibiotics was set up. He said that would be either Wednesday or Thursday. Nothing was put through, daily we called their office, our pharmacy called twice and the receptionist at Dr Yamada's office said we needed to be patient. Well by Thursday his UTI got worse and he ended up in the hospital. They immediately screened his infection and put him on the correct IV antibiotic and had home health IVs for 10 days arranged for the following day. This office was nothing short of negligent in their care and follow through. read more

First time being at a urology center, and honestly, it was not a bad experience at all. Check in was easy, the lady that helped check me in was thorough and nice. At appointment time, a nurse guy brought me and gave me a cup to pee in for testing. Then checked my bladder for urine retention after. Then waited about close to 30 minutes to see the PA i was scheduled to see. He apologized for the wait and then asked about my history and symptoms. He was able to conclude that due to my negative tests and my posture, that i was most likely having on and off symptoms due to nerve related problems. He recommended me to see a physical therapist and try a standing desk to alleviate the symptoms. A lot better than doctors that would push antibiotics/meds despite negative results. Hopefully I don't have come back here again, but I would recommend this urology center if you are having urological problems! read more

My husband made an appt with PA Ben Massey he was great, patient and requested test to be run before seeing Dr. Yamaha. On our visit with Dr. Yamaha we waited over an hour which is not usual. Once we entered the exam room the male nurse said my husband needed a procedure done then in the office, my husband wanted to see results first before agreeing to procedure. The first thing Dr. Yamaha said when he entered the exam room was " so you chickened out" which was very unprofessional. My husband said he wanted to see the tests results first Dr. Yamaha handed him the written results and walked out!!! We were in there maybe 3 minutes at beat. He is the worst unprofessional doctor!! Worst Medical Experience of my life. And I work in the medical field. It took me over a week to post this review because I'm still distraught and to be honest traumatized at how I was treated by Lana the front desk. Keep in mind my experience with both Dr Yamada and the PA were great. I had visited the office at least 3 times. I should also mention that Candice at the front desk has always been polite curious and respectful. However, my bad experience was when I called before my appointment at 9:15 (15 min after office opened ) to reschedule because I had Covid. I spoke to Lana who clearly was not happy to answer phone. When I asked if I had a copay she replied "whatever you paid last visit ". I explained to her that I didn't pay during my last visit because it was a nurse visit. She got upset put me on hold and came to say I had to pay a fine for rescheduling. I told her I was sick and had rescheduled previously for being sick she laughed!!!!! She literally laughed letting me know she didn't believe me. I immediately asked to speak to a supervisor and she put me on hold for over 10 min. I called back asked to speak to a supervisor and was transferred to Nick the patient advocate (are you kidding me) who dared tell me that he heard all the conversations held that morning in the office and that no one laughed !! I couldn't believe as a patient advocate he was basically calling me a liar. And making a huge false statement that no one in his office had laughed that day . He dared asked if I wanted to reschedule. Why would someone that was laughed at and then basically called a liar by the patient advocate trust you with my personal care and health !!!!!! Office visits to the urologist can already be stressful and even embarrassing and to be laughed at by your front desk receptionist is appalling. Appalling. Office front desk is nice. Dr. Yamada will see you for 3 minutes and not listen to any of your concerns. His PA is nice enough but get this - he wrote a prescription but it never materialized. Nor did a followup appointment. I called again and said they'd re-send the rx to the compounding pharmacy. 6 weeks later, nothing. I called the doctor, they told me to call the pharmacy, pharmacy said they never received any fax from Yamada or Massey although they insist they sent it twice i.e. their word vs the pharmacy's word. Bull crap. Not sure what's going on in this office but it sure is a waste of money and time. read more

I want to update my review based on my actual appointment experience. I my previous review I shared my disappointment with how my intake process went and the customer experience advocate responded with a promise to ensure their folks would " do better" Well I'm happy to report that they followed through with their promise. Not only was I treated well by all of the staff I interacted with, but I really appreciate Dr Alan Yamadas respect, professionalism and demeanor. I felt listened to, and was very impressed with his knowledge of the latest developments in his field. So my experience was a total 180 degree turnaround from before. I acknowledge them for their efforts and for delivering on their promise. I deliberately did not let the advocate know I had showed up for the appt since I wanted to anonymously experience the atmosphere, you know, to make sure it wasn't just a manufactured "show" of patient care. It was a genuinely caring and compassionate office that I experienced. I'd say, pay them a visit! I was subjected to incredibly frustrating and inconsiderate front line staff experiences. As a new incoming patient, I waited over an hour late at my first appointment after passing kidney stones the week before. I had to leave the appointment before the examination, but the nurse took my kidney stones and a urine sample. They rescheduled the appointment virtually the following week. The day before that appointment, I received a call from a staff member saying that I would have to come in-person again and the appointment they made with me for virtual could not be honored. At that time, they were not very helpful in confirming that my kidney stones were received and sent to a lab, they were rude and inconsiderate. This is neither professional, nor sensitive to needs of patients. I have no interest in ever stepping foot in that office again and would caution anyone and everyone against doing so. The doctor might be great, but the office is horrible. read more

I'm never coming here again. I'm super dissatisfied and disappointed. I've had a great experience here when I came to visit Ben, the PA 2 years ago. I live 45 minutes away but I came back because I really had a great experience my first time here and they can do next day and same day appointments (call first). I went to see Dr. Yamada for the first time, instead of Ben. He seemed very professional and I left the office satisfied. However when I went to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription, the nightmare started. Like many people, I have an allergy to sulfa. This was listed at least twice on my paperwork. The paperwork he had right in front of him as he was diagnosing me and getting information. Did not think that would be an issue. I go to the pharmacy and pick up my prescription, guess what? It's Sulfamethoxazole. The very drug I've listed I was allergic to!! Luckily I recognized it and did not take it. I called the office at around 4. The office could not do anything about this because "the doctor has left the office." They close at 5... but the lady who answered the phone told me she'll either call me back today or Monday. (I was there on a Friday and they are closed for the weekend). So I was in discomfort for 3 more days because of a doctor's negligence. The did end up calling me on Monday telling me they sent a different prescription over and it should be able to be picked up now. Okay, great. I went to pick it up right away. ONLY I COULDN'T PICK IT UP. Why? The doctor sent in the prescription yes, but didn't authorize on how I'm supposed to take it. Pharmacies need to know how the patient is supposed to take medicine. So in other words, I still couldn't get my medication because of another negligent case.. So I called the office to ask about this. And they told me, the prescription was actually sent out FRIDAY NOT TODAY. So I could have gotten this over with Friday and got my medication. But the office did not let me know that they sent in medication for me until today. The office also said I should be able to pick my prescription up. I didn't have time to deal with the pharmacy and the office as I had somewhere to be. What was supposed to be a quick medication pick up turned into a nightmare. So I come back today to check again and tell the pharmacy what happened. The head pharmacist did let me get my medication without the authorization from the doctor as the directions to take the medication were the same as the medication I was previously given, the one I'm allergic to. Honestly, go somewhere else. I wouldn't bother coming here again, unless you wanted to see Ben. Highly recommend Ben over Dr. Yamada. read more

-Awful recording you have to navigate thru every time you call, you spend at least 2 minutes before you get a real person. Not sure why they make people go thru this, when I was physically there no one was really busy. -Waited over an HOUR and didn't even see the doctor. -They were supposed to have MRI/CT Scan results but not only did they not have them but no one even knew I had these exams. -Medical assistants were not friendly until they could see I was becoming irritated by their incompetence. I used to be able to ask to speak with a nurse or even Ben and then I would receive a call later in the day. Also, when you try to explain what is going on she will cut off, sometimes rudely! People having severe symptoms need to be seen. Horrible experience. Please don't go to this doctor. A family member was diagnosed with Cancer and wasn't provided much in terms of options and recommended tratment. When I went to an appt to follow up, this doctor was so rude throughout the entire appointment. He kept downplaying the situation because my family member is "older" and has almost reached the average life expectancy. These comments were made with a smirk and giggle at times. As I was asking questions, he abruptly got up and said he didn't have time for more questions because he had other patients. Mind you, he was only in the exam room for about 10 minutes. He then said, that he didn't have any more time for us and that if I had questions, I would need to call him. He then said, "your family member has known for a month that they have cancer and hasn't done the tests I ordered, and now you want to take it out on me? I don't have time for this." If you want to go to a doctor that is caring, compassionate, and cares about his patients, do not go to this doctor. Save yourself the time and heartache. read more

I cannot stress enough the damage this doctor and staffs incompetence and negligence has caused. The lack of answering phones or returning calls should have been enough warning to find another doctor. But instead I was prepped for a procedure (ie surgery) when I was not scheduled for surgery and then had very important, problematic labs simply ignored and never reported back. I may still file a malpractice suit or complain to the board for this man's incompetence and the terrible costs to my quality of life. read more

First visit It took well over 1 hour to see the Doc. 2nd visit saw his PA who prescribed Cipro for my simple UTI. The FDA has a black box warning that Cipro should never be given to anyone unless it's the only medication that would be effective. There are many antibiotics that could have been prescribed for my UTI. "(Cipro) -- shouldn't be prescribed for sinusitis, chronic bronchitis or simple urinary tract infections unless no other treatments options exist because the drugs can lead to disabling side effects, including long-term nerve damage and ruptured tendons." From the FDA! Dr Yamada disagreed and said it was OK for PA to give me Cipro. 3rd visit again with PA who wrote a prescription for an X-ray at the Imaging Center. But wrote it wrong causing me to have to wait almost a hour until the center could reach him. Dr is probably skilled but having an incompetent PA and saying no problem with him giving me a very dangerous medication is OK is reason enough to avoid this place like the plague. read more

I have had no interaction with Dr. Yamada though I've had three separate appointments to see him. I arrived for my consult on time and waited an hour before I was seen. This consult was handled by a physicians assistant who was very good. His bedside manner made up in part for the insulting wait. I scheduled an appointment for the procedure which was set out over a month from the initial consult. A week before the scheduled date, Dr. Yamada's staff called to reschedule citing an "emergency conference." Wasn't thrilled, especially given the wait for the first appointment, but things come up. Set another appointment, another month out. The Monday before that Friday appointment I get another and learn of another "emergency conference." I have no doubt that these conferences were or at least potentially could have been emergencies, but the way in which I was clear supposed to just accept it and wait another month for my appointment was just too much. I've since heard that Dr. Yamada is great. I can say that I will never be able to speak from personal experience. read more

I have been to see Dr. Yamada twice for the Mona Lisa treatment. I was very impressed with the staff and Dr. Yamada. We spoke in his office for over 15 minutes while he explained the procedure and answered my many questions. For me it has been life changing and has drastically reversed some of the symptoms of menopause/aging. I would highly recommend Dr. Yamada for this treatment, and the many treatments he specializes in. read more

I called the office to either speak to someone or get treatment for my discomfort, and I was told to go buy something at the drug store. This office obviously doesn't value their patients. Dr Yamada used the words "hardon" and "cum" during my examination. Then, he accused me of being "kind of a serious guy". He went on to completely flub my diagnosis. Finally, he had his tech perform an ultrasound ON THE WRONG PART OF MY ANATOMY. I'm leaving a crummy review here because all of those medical practitioner review sites are a joke, but honestly this doesn't feel like enough. I'm considering writing a report to the AMA. read more

Dr. Yamada and his staff are wonderful!! For years I was reluctant to go to the doctor, but from the first visit, they really set my mind at ease! They were very gentle and respectful, and tried to explain everything to me before I did it. The first time I was there, my appointment ran past closing, but nobody made me feel like an inconvenience. Much to my excitement and gratitude, after only 3 visits, I have noticed a change for the better! He's done what he could to help me save money, while treating me very well. I was having a rough day last time I came in, but Blanca, the receptionist, asked me how I was (with a lovely smile) and that really helped. Also, Amanda, one of the nurses, has been very kind to me. While I do not wish urological problems on anybody, I highly recommend Dr. Yamada and his lovely staff! He shares the office with Dr. Andrews, who I have heard is very good as well. read more

Dr Yamada has been my special needs daughter's urologist for over 20 years. Due to her disability she has needed multiple urology surgeries by Dr. Yamada. He has not only pulled my daughter through surgeries but also sepsis, renal failure and on going bladder/kidney infections. I can honestly say that if it wasn't for Dr. Yamada's expertise that my daughter would not be here today. Not only is he an excellent physician/surgeon he has a warm, caring and calming personality. His bedside manner is outstanding. We don't just consider Dr. Yamada as one of my daughter's physicians but an extended family member. read more

Dr. Yamada is awesome, I have been going to him for over 20 years, I travel 30-45 minutes to see him -His office staff needs some talking too- I should have got a clue when I had to call 3-4 times to follow up on my appointment for my procedure- very bad! Then I get a bill that say over 90 days- it was my first bill, apparently they didn't have the correct insurance information, Patrica had called me while I was out of the country for work- I called her back the following week and gave her the information- she acted a bit rude and said "I have never seen a insurance with that type of number" as if I were giving her false information, I asked that she return my call to make sure everything is okay and no call back, I finally e-mailed and asked if all is okay- Olivia responds "keep in contact with Patrica"! How can I keep contact with Patricia if she doesn't return calls! I thought I would try again and called- left a message but again no return call! AGAIN DR.Yamada is awesome unfortunately he has some people in the office that just Don't care. All will go good with his procedures but if there is any paperwork follow-up by the office --FORGET IT! I was very impressed with Dr. Yamada and his staff, they made me feel comfortable as I underwent my first Mona Lisa Touch Laser procedure.
