Having purchased new glasses on May 26th, I was cautiously impressed with the employee (A.) who carefully measured my eyes, and noted that one ear is slightly higher than the other. I was told it would be two weeks before the glasses would be ready. I waited until the 20th of June, hearing nothing and then called. A pleasant young woman informed me that I had been texted on June 1. I checked my texts; she checked the number. I had received no text. She said she would let the manager know. I go to pick up the glasses on June 23rd at 4:30 p.m. The store is closed with a sign on the door "Lunch break. Back in 30 minutes." I saw someone see me, and then bolt to the back. As I had walked a way to get to the store, I took a time stamped picture of the sign, and waited. The individual values their lunch break. At 5:02, they opened the door, and asked my business. I said I was here to pick up glasses. They apologized that their lunch break was late. Three minutes later, I had my glasses and was out the door that I had stood outside for 30 minutes. Everyone I dealt with in this store was super friendly. But there's more to good service than being perky and friendly. 1. The glasses weren't ready when promised. 2. When I finally got the glasses, I tried them for a few days. The progressive lens prescription was set too high in the frames so distance vision -- like driving -- was very difficult. 3. So I took them back. No problem, they said, they'll just have them redone. No charge. They'll be ready on Saturday or Monday at the latest. 4. I call on Monday. No glasses. But the tracker shows they'll arrive tomorrow and we promise to call you, they said. 5. No call on Tuesday. I call them. Turns out they weren't calling the number I had given the salesclerk, but a number that was changed in 2002. Time to retrain the staff, from the manager on down. Update: The manager called to apologize profusely. Outcome. She's refunding me part of the purchase price of the glasses. read more

I have gone to foreyes (in different locations) for a long time. The eye doctor associated with this foreyes is horrible. I was in the office for 2.5 hours, the doctor was seeing patients in between me trying contacts on, and in the end I found out he was trying to get me to purchase his proprietary 3D printed contacts for $1,200 that insurance would not cover. When I realized this and wanted to go the regular contact route, I was rushed out and now I'm stuck with a prescription that I am not even sure is right. The store itself may be fine to buy glasses but do not use this eye doctor. read more

Great customer service! I just ordered glasses and sunglasses at ForEyes, Falls Church, working with Maggie, the manager, who spent almost an hour advising me on frames and was incredibly patient as I wavered between one frame and another for the sunglasses. Even after I'd told her I'd made up my mind and she'd done all of the pricing, she didn't show a trace of annoyance when I changed my mind yet again. And, p.s., the estimate I was initially given without having my prescription in hand included "high index" lenses. BJs had given me a lower estimate, but, it turns out, their "cheap" estimate was doubled when the optometrist asked if I wanted high index lenses. OK I love this place, the service and the prices. My sales associate was great. Knowledgeable, helpful, kind and knew exactly what I wanted. The prices are amazing. Two pairs of very hip and cool glasses for $99. That is it. No gimicks or tricks. After getting my eye exam next door I decided to go to BJ's where I'm a member in Falls Church. I love BJ's and thought that I'd be getting a deal. I did not even shop around. Big mistake. BJ's was $130 ! I went ahead and ordered the glasses but they were not correct. So, I went back to the eye Doctor (Leonard) associated with this shop and told him that the BJ's glasses were not working. I had fantastic customer service last week at this Broad Street For Eyes! My daughter, who was out of state, had lost her only pair of glasses. Employee Leah was super helpful in not only getting my daughter's prior info but patiently helped my daughter, who was on FaceTime, to find a similar pair of frames. Leah then worked with the manager ( I believe her name was Mary? Spanish speaker and super nice) to find me a good deal on the total package and saved me 100 dollars through a discount they discovered. I have used For Eyes Fairfax for many many years with great success.... My prescription is complex since I need Verilux lenses as well as prisms. Staff has always been professional, supportive, as well as try hard to assure the customer is satisfied. Most of the staff I have dealt with over many years, have had excellent people skills. Fortunately when the Fairfax For Eyes closed, my records were still available at the Falls Church location. I do go to an ophthalmologist and take the prescription to For Eyes. I am writing this because my husband and I had similar experiences at two local For Eyes locations (Falls Church and Alexandria). They use the same lab for lenses in Florida, so this applies to every location. My husband took frames to For Eyes to have lenses made for them. His prescription came from the Dr. next store (whom he liked). For Eyes sent them away for almost 3 weeks and the lenses came back upside down (progressive on the top!). He left them for another 2 weeks and they were still wrong, so he has to take them back again or get his money back and take them somewhere else. Wow - I haven't had such a horrible experience at any retail business in a long time. Customer service at For Eyes is non-existent. I wouldn't recommend this store/company to anyone, and will be sure to tell everyone I know what a terrible store/company this is. A brief synopsis: glasses were ordered at this location, arrived in a different/wrong color than ordered, and it took six visits - yes, SIX - of rigmarole trips to For Eyes to try to rectify the situation. No apologies were made by staff or management. Finally just asked for money back. Sick and tired of dealing with incompetence by For Eyes staff, along with their flippant indifference to the fact that they not only made the errors but caused me the inconvenience of having to come to the store so many darn times to straighten out their mess. Sales people not trained very well at all. They appeared to not care about the problem and the fact that they lost a customer. Luckily, there is no shortage of competent glasses retailers for me to go to instead, since For Eyes has no concern for customer retention. read more

DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS STORE!!!!!! YOU WILL GET USED FRAMES AND POOR CUSTOMER SERVICES!!! I purchased two pair of frames over a month ago and not only were the sunglasses the wrong prescription, but the clear glasses were broken. To top it off, they tried to send me 3 pair of broken frames until I called them out! I have yet to receive my money for returning my glasses well before the 30 day guarantee. No one will answer my questions when I call they only give me the run around. I plan on going to that store every evening and telling people that try to go there to not do business with them. I think their plan is to take advantage of the elder customers by selling them used or blemished frames. I will never recommend doing business with this company and really hope you don't either! This was my first experience picking out glasses and it went great! The associate who assisted me, Gloria, was wonderful. She gave suggestions and answered all my questions while still giving me enough space to check out the selection. After I picked out my frames Gloria walked me through my options and set everything up quickly. My glasses were ready six days later and they look great. I didn't catch the names of the ladies there when I picked up my glasses but everything went smoothly. I was in and out, with my new glasses, in less than five minutes. There are plenty of frames to choose from and things went smoothly. I'll definitely come back for my next pair of glasses when the time comes. read more

Agree with Charles S. below. Friendly people but poor experience overall. They specifically asked me how I should be contacted when the glasses were ready, but then used an old phone number (not email as I had requested) to let me know they were in. Lost a day in figuring this out. This is also a common theme in negative reviews here. I gave For Eyes two different prescriptions (one for reading, one for distance) for two different frames. Discovered that the same prescription had been used in both frames. Then learned that it would take at least a week to fix the error because shipments only go out about once every 48 hours, and I had missed the previous shipment out. Why did I miss the previous shipment? Because they used an incorrect method to contact me! Why do orders not go out every day? No idea. Very frustrating to walk around squinting for two days knowing that the frames were just sitting in the Falls Church store. No one called me to let me know the frames with the correct prescription were finally in. Had to track that down myself. No one ever apologized for the error, offered a discount, or offered to ship the glasses directly to my home. I suppose I should've asked, but at this point just plan not to go back there again. This is unfortunate as the individuals who work there are nice and the location is close to my home. I have never written a negative review before; usually just prefer to leave no feedback at all. Just FYI. Seems like the management needs some training in communication and quality control. read more

Today I walked in for an adjustment of my glasses that I purchased in June 2014. The new sales associate, Patti examined my glasses very carefully while it was still on my face and she knew exactly what had to be done to fix the problems. I visited this store after getting my annual eye exam. I went into the store to look for glasses and overhead the sales associates talking badly about one of their customers. They definitely saw me browsing in the store and I even passed by them. It was very unprofessional and as someone who works in customer service I was not pleased. I accidentally stepped on my glasses and broke them in two places. I did a quick search for opticians that were decent, close, and reasonably priced and settled on For Eyes. They were able to redrill my frames (I thought I would need a new frames), straighten them out and replace the lenses. They spent about 15 or 20 minutes working on them. When I asked them how much, they said no charge! Maybe this is normal in the optician world, this is the first time I have damaged a pair before needing new ones. But I certainly appreciate their work especially at no charge. In an age where it seems like everyone is trying to squeeze every penny out of you (I'm talking to you, airlines!) Really great experience with the staff here. I was in town for a short period of time, and they put in a rush order to made sure that I got my prescription sunglasses before I left town. They called me as soon as the glasses got in, several days earlier than I had been expecting. In the past I've had a lot of bad luck getting prescription sunglasses (the lens is frequently a bit off), but these were great right out of the box. I would definitely come here again. read more

Ok, so I have been going to For Eyes since 1988, first in Boston area then in the DC area. They are inexpensive, friendly and professional. I have tried lots of other eye wear companies over the years, but For Eyes has the best value. Sure you may get a less than satisfactory retail experience from time to time at any retail store, but this is the store to come for for value. I take my whole family here. read more

I have had two negative experiences with the Falls Church retail location of Four Eyes Optical. The first pair of glasses were ordered and I waited a month for the phone call informing me that the glasses were ready. It was my first order of glasses and I did not know what to expect. When I called to inquire about the status, the clerk informed me that they "tried to call, but the number was no good." A postcard had been sent, she said, the glasses were ready and she had "no idea what happened." I confirmed my contact information right then and there and left to pick up my glasses. A few days later, a postcard arrived. However, I failed to notice what day it had been postmarked. Everyone has bad days. Everyone makes mistakes. So when I decided to have a second pair of glasses made I returned to this convenient location. This experience was a repeat of experience number one: waiting 4 weeks with no news, a call from me for an update, being told that my phone number was no good, etc., etc. When I countered about the postcard notification and the notification protocol the last Four Eyes representitive led me to believe was the standard, the representitive stated that the policy was to inform the customer according to thier preference. The inference here is that the failure to be contacted was somehow not thier responsibility, but mine in a fuzzy logic way. The information about my correcting the contact informration was sidestepped by the clerk. I hang up the phone. Time to get my glasses. On the second trip to Four Eyes, I must wait to pick up my glasses. A man is waiting patiently as the staff is looking through drawer after drawer for his order. After consulting another staff member the glasses are finally found as she is looking up the man's information on the computer. I hear her clearly and am annoyed by what I hear, a familiar voice saying "we tried to call you, but your number did not work." It seems to be the standard line to justify their organizational incompetence. But it gets better. I have both sets of glasses and was amused to open my mail and find a post card from Four Eyes Optical, Falls Church location informing me that my glasses are ready for pick up, Postmarked October 18. I've had my glasses for two days. Perhaps that post card was a way of covering the bases. However, this repeat performance of flat out disrespecful lying and incompence is not acecptable and I will not return to Four Eyes again. read more

I bought a pair of glasses at For Eyes that was poorly put together with plastic (not metal) brads. (All Optical places may be using these now) Every month after the purchase, I had to go back and have the brads replaced because they would break, and the lenses would loosen and rotate. Finally, they said they would give me another pair. I chose a pair with frames that go around the whole lens so there would be no brads. I appreciate that they replaced the glasses and will go back for another pair, but it was a hassle for several months. read more

Ordering glasses from ForEyes Falls Church was a profound disappointment from the start. The store clerks are rude and unhelpful. I was told that it would take one week to get my purchase back from the lab. It has been two weeks now and I still don't have anything to show for my money. They do not return phone calls to inquire about the status of my order. I also found the pricing associated with my vision plan to be misleading. There is one price that they charge if you are paying cash and another price that is charged if you are using insurance. This seems dishonest. I have reported this irregular practice to my insurance company. Beware of working with this shop. There surely must be other places with significantly better customer service. I had a great experience with the Falls Church For Eyes. I took my prescription from my personal optometrist to For Eyes to get an inexpensive pair of sunglasses. Nasima was the sales associate who helped me, and she took the time to compare different pricing options (insurance discounts vs. coupons) to come up with the optimal price for me. I needed my sunglasses quickly, and she put a rush on the order. I had the glasses in three days (rather than the 5 days she expected), and I am very happy with the result. read more

If they had presented me with the frames I selected when I came to pick up my glasses and given me a cloth to clean them with, I would have rated them 4-5 stars. I came in with a Groupon and selected a pair of dark pink plastic frames. What I got was a pair of dark brown metal frames with pink lining. I hate metal glasses, the make me look severe -- the last thing I want!!!! However, as I see it, the woman who sold the glasses wrote up the sale to sell me the brown frames. Even though we went over it 2-3X that I definitely wanted the pink ones (and no others), she still gave me the brown ones. She even went back to the cash register with the pink ones in her right hand and the the others we eliminated in her left hand. I would have refused them, but the are for home use only, so I really don't care what they look like. I didn't pay very much for them and they are only computer glasses and they got the prescription right (as far as I can tell). But I will probably not use them again and would caution you, if you do choose to use them to be sure to compare your glasses to the invoice they present you with to be sure you are getting the frames you ordered. read more
